duprattcarol hey there! You’re absolutely right. Yes I play the tabla and bongos too. But I have another video for which u can view and carry out the exercises. Your fingers will slowly get stronger. I think the video is entitled Frosses or something. It’s on my channel. Let me know if u need anything else! Cheers!
John Fredrickson this is a good question. For me, I place it on my dominant hand’s side, simply because it works better for me and I also enjoy playing the bass note with my non-dominant hand at times. My advise would be, for a start, place it at ur dominant hand side. That way u can play the heck stick on all ur 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th quavers for a typical rock beat. In other words, all the n’s of 1n, 2n, etc
@@KamalBensra I've already velcro'd it to my non-dominant side. :( My reasoning is because I have a better sense of touch dynamics on my dominant hand to play soft or hard accented beats. That setup has worked well for me with 1/4 and 1/8 notes on the heck stick, but it has been tough to develop the coordination required to use this technique.
@@johnfredrickson7215 ok at this moment, as I have not seen you play, I'm really unable to comment on whether it's a good idea for you to continue playing the cajon with the heck stick on your non-dominant, or to change. If I could see a video of yourself playing, I'd be able to provide you with a more valuable comment =)
Very helpful video! Thanks for the technique! Question for you @Kamal Bensra: it looks like you customized you Heck75 with rubber sheaths of some sort. Can you explain what/how/why you've done here?
Joshua Rudolph thanks for the love! Ok what I’ve done is I’ve basically placed extra velcro. I did this because I didnt want the small finger cymbals to ring too loudly, and overpower the sound of the cajon. I wanted the cymbals too sound soft and as a compliment to the main cajon sound. Hence. Hope this helps Joshua!!
It is realy great technik.. I hope I can learn that. Happy with your video. Tnx
Glad you like it!!! Have a beautiful day!
Check out my video with a new way of playing the heckstick!

Sorry noob question but why alternating between ring and middle finger?
It helps with speed
Very good ! :)
Thank you! 😊
Your fingers are so strong! Have you played tabla or other percussion instruments requiring finger hits?

Georgi Rakov yes u can attach it to any cajon using Velcro strips
@@KamalBensra Thank you :)
Should this be done with the dominant or non-dominant hand?

Hey what do you think of La Rosa Blackie cajon ? is it have better choice for that price range ?
Hi Georgi, unfortunately I haven't had the chance to play that cajon. Hence, I'm not able to provide a justified comment.
