Thanks for helping me transfer more of my conga skills to the cajon! I've dabbled with it before but I'm planning on playing a lot more currently so this is very helpful.
Great tips, my cajon is supposed to be here in 3 days so I'll work my way through your stuff here and Patreon while learning. Thanks for all you do Kalani, we are all better for it!
This could be a great technique for playing the Purdie half time shuffle or Jeff Pacaro’s beat for Rosanna. However, for me it’s going to take a LOT of practice! Thanks for the very helpful video!
I love it! I've used the same triplet-technique just with my fingers, but it could be a lot more effective with the whole hand, especially on the cajon. Time to learn something new!
I need shoulder surgery, I have Tennis Elbo and Carpal Tunnel, all on the right side but.....I still managed to learn this after playing for a couple of hours. Now its time for a beer and advil. Thanks...Rocket
I first discovered I could do it with my non-dominant hand, I didn't even know it was a technique! I've been trying to practice it with my dominant hand but it's difficult!
Hello This guy @Juyal Beats posted an impossible cajon solo is it really impossible if not how hard is it?I am asking this question from some cajon players
Hi Kalani i saw you in NAMM 19. my dominant hand is the right one, if i do the double whit right is easier for me, in fact your dominant hand is the left one ?, have a nice day, thank you !
I'm in need of a sure answer.Do I loosen the head of my cajon to the point that the corners slap against the corners of the frame ? I heard different takes on this but I wanna know how your was set up in this video . Thanks so much...
I would not listen the screws on frontplate. ...I did once when a cajon was just about dead, until I got a new one...but, as far as I know, you don't do that. If they come loose, you may want to carefully tighten them. Tuning comes from the snare wires, inside, if there are any
Hey, this is the first video of yours I'm seeing. Amazing technique. I have a quick question, would like to see if you really answer it. When i tried to follow this, my fingers produce sort of a bouncy sound (going ta dum kinda iykwim) instead of the solid bass that i hear in yours. Am i doing something wrong?
Hi, Kalani! Two things: 1.- The correct name is "mano secreta", not "mano secreto" 2.- I suppose it's bad practice from me, but I learnt to make the first sound of the heel-toe just with the heel of my hand, not with the whole hand, as you seem to do... Do you think I should re-learn the technique or is it OK as well? Thanks and keep doing such fantastic videos!
Have you ever seen an Indian playing DHOLAK they use the same technique They have their left hand on the bass & index - rest of 3 fingers on the treble Most Indian hand drums use this .
@@linuskoe2693 use a more 'relaxed' sort of slap with your fingers instead of a tense poke, if that makes any type of sense. Sort of like tapping on a desk. If you find the right spot on the Cajon, you can get a nice loud snare sound with light finger taps
Tycoon sells looks rather than good sound and instrument quality. Horrible brand, I tried several of their instruments like bongo, shakers, djembe, etc and they were like chinese toys

Great tutorial & very well described and demonstrated 👏👍✌️

The cajon looks even more beautiful in the overhead view. that pattern is gorgeous
Great, will be working on this.
Love it ... gonna go practice this! Thanks!
Great lesson! Will apply, thank you.
I like this. I've been using it, but have not thought of switching to my non-dominant hand. I like the way that you do it with both hands.
Correction: I believe the wood is "Spalted Maple" (not curly)
Excellent. Thank you!!
Hi! Im your new subscriber of this pandemic covid19 in 3 days from now im still learning every single day thanks for the tips! Keep safe.
Amazing! Thanks for the lesson 😊
Hello Kalani from Colombia...thank you very much for sharing your teachings...

Wow, please teach more of cajon techniques.
Thanx a lot...... I’ve also booked a tycoon stk 29 cajon 🤗🤗🙏🏻
Sick beats, Kalani!
Thank you! I do my best.
Awesome, man u make it look so easy!
awesome video man ;)
and super cool cajon!
what's the top wood ?
Thank you 😊
Is there snare inside the box?
very cool. I didn't know I was doing that.
Oh this has a name.. i've been doing this on my chair hands. all my life.. need to buy a Cajon..
Reminds me of the "heel-toe" technique on pedals
I first discovered I could do it with my non-dominant hand, I didn't even know it was a technique!
I've been trying to practice it with my dominant hand but it's difficult!
I use "secret hand" since a long time....without knowing it. That's the proof that it's really secret :D
True statement! ♡

Amazing!

What do you think about "faking" the roll with the fingers?
awesome
thanks for time

I think the sound you're referring to is the snare mounted inside the cajon. I don't think you want to loosen anything.
I would not listen the screws on frontplate.

nice!
How on earth did you film that 2nd view with your chin though?
don't you notice this absolutely massive chin he have ? it's not a rock, it's a peak, no, a peninsula !
that's where leave a cameraman, named george.
The cam ain't perpendicular to the floor, but rather tilted to be a little bit upside down

You are correct! Thanks for the clarification. This is why I love our WORLD DRUM CLUB - because we help each other.
Respect.
Love it but makes me crazy how easy it looks when you do it lol
it sounds FUCKING AMAZING ♥
toma tu like buen hombre!
Gracias!
Love this! :-)
Mano secretA ("mano" is a feminine noun ending in O).
Have you ever seen an Indian playing DHOLAK they use the same technique
They have their left hand on the bass & index - rest of 3 fingers on the treble
Most Indian hand drums use this .
How to tune cajon?
You don't tune it; it's wood. On some cajons, you can tighten the snare inside the cajon, but I don't think this is referred to as "tuning".
lossen the screw around cajon make sound better
Not an expert but it sounds like half of a Brazilian rhythm: hand palm - finger tips-thumb-pinky, in a 1-2-3-4 pattern, on a tambourine/pandeiro.
그거 얼마에요
Gua kira Dedi corbuzier
Hey buddy you could have used your fingers for the triplet it would even have been faster. But never the less good technique
how do you avoid cramps in the lower part of your arm tho ? im dealing with those whenever i use finger rolls over alonger period of time ... :/

@@evmanbutts my desk actually is my main tool for practice ... i guess the way to go anyways would be simply not to overuse the technique ..
I’ll just say, I’ve tried. I prefer the use of the fingers on my right hand
IP man on cajon
Kevin Abat I wish! IP Man is the best!
@@WORLDDRUMCLUB haha ur like IP man when u hit the cajon, cool technique will def practice this 🤙 thanks for sharing!

Personally I prefer to see you beating on drum not a hunk of wood
No hair
