Hi, I have been struggling with driving since I started playing golf a few years ago. I really dreaded it the most among all the clubs. Even with some expensive golf pro lessons, I really couldnt fix my swing but after I stumbled upon your video I improved greatly. I was so surprised after trying your advice that I enjoy driving now. It felt so natural and so much easier now. I just want to say that you have the simplest and yet the Best advice in the whole of RUclips. Thank you Coach Paul! from the Philippines 🇵🇭
A couple of years ago I started doing the drill to loosen the wrists. It clearly works. But I was not using it on the course. I went back and watched another video of yours to understand the significance of the drill and viola! I admire your teaching method. As an aside, I'm a 6.8 factor (index) and I'm in no way capable of a lesson beyond 60 minutes. I have 5 sessions/year and most are strategy on course. I salute your stamina with one client for 4 hours. Well done Paul.
Very good. I love it when it clicks for people. Sometimes they just have to hear it a different way or try something different. Once they have that moment they get to a whole new level. 99% of my students are from out of town so 4 hours is pretty standard. Keep in mind the first part of it I am explaining a lot of different things. The working grip and set up which takes time. Then we are doing practice swings for a while. So they are not hitting for 4 straight hours. I taught a gentleman in 40 degree weather last year for 4 hours and another 2.5 the next day. He was 87 wearing only a light windbreaker over a golf shirt. I was frozen and just kept going. Every time it's cold I think of him.
That was pretty impressive Paul. Getting Richard going from 160-180 yds carry to 210-220 + yds. Centre striking also makes a significant difference, as verified by the people at Trackman, so you can swing slower but hit it further.
I am a true believer! After taking a break from playing (family) I really struggled with making quality golf shots. Your drills have been a game changer for me and have really gotten me passionate about playing golf again!
What an improvement after 4 hours of lessons. He stated with hitting his driver 178 yards and improved to 224 yards with simple changes. Excellent job Paul Wilson. Taki khan
man you're method is amazing, I'm in Spain and I've tried to apply some of your technique at the range, and saw immediately how efficient it is, also my back was relieved. If i go to vegas next year I'll try to book you for a lesson! cheers!
Thanks. I appreciate it and loving hearing about people improving. It never gets old. Glad I could help. Look me up if you get to town. Be great to meet and work with you.
The visual instruction was very good and helpful to watch. I noticed Richard has not yet optimized using his legs and hips, however it is clear that once he becomes accustom to that technique his game will be much improved. Richard did markedly improve as a result of your lesson and his continued integration of your instruction will help him achieve his desired distance. Great lesson and instruction. If you ever do a demonstration in Southern California please advise as I would love to attend. Thanks again Paul
Congratulations Paul. Your loose wrists are magic. So little is ever said of this in golf. I first heard it from you. Loose wrists and turn Oh man what a game.
Hi . Ive been watching ur vids for ages. How do you use more rotation and body with out coming over the top. My coach reckons i should start the swing with my right hand. If i try to start with the body turn i come over the top. How do you use the body and still swing in to out and hit the inside of the ball. Any help much appricated. Cheers orlando . Gold coast austrila.
Very interesting video. At 8:00 I was amazed to see some better rhythm in his swing already. Very difficult to get your student to loosen up - thanks to him for letting us watch his lesson! Probably difficult to be in control all the time in your life except when you swing your club at the golf course!
Thanks. One of the hard things is for people to hit on a launch monitor and keep it smooth. I am guilty of it too. I couldn't believe he said yes, to shoot it when I asked. I'm glad he did. I think others can see that they can do it too.
He was actually hitting longer when not on camera. He started to swing harder. It was a great improvement though. Glad you are doing well. You should never be in pain swinging. If you are you are doing it wrong.
Thanks. My students come from out of town so they typically do 2-4 hours. He was getting tired at the end. We hit a lot of drivers. Keep in mind I have to explain different things and I get them doing practice swings etc. so they aren't hitting 4 hours straight. I like where we ended up. In no time he will get used to it then he can get even more in the future.
I think it all has to do with the face at the top of the backswing, if you look at the beginning the face was way open at 7:29 and at then as he started to close the face a little at 7:54 and at 9:35 (215 carry) his shots were better, if he were to close the face (square the face in line with this spine angle) even more he would hit even further. I think the body reacts to the position you make. Good job Paul!
Thanks, I could only do so much. I was more concerned with him getting to my follow through position and loosening up. Give the person too much and sometimes they get nothing. I thought he could have gotten even looser but it was a good start.
definitely did a great job, it just amazes me how the body reacts, in order to do all those good positions, the only way was to slightly close the face at the top of his backswing, no one told him that, his body just reacted to it in order to do the rest.
We did this release drill tons of times throughout the day so he new how to square the face. Just wish he could have loosened up a little more. He would have done even better. I think he will get it to mid 90's in no time.
I've been following your effortless golf swing videos for a couple years now. I'm 59 and have an index of 4.5. I carry the driver 250 to 270, so happy with distance that I am acheving with your method. I do feel that I should be scoring better but for some reason I can't zone in at 140 yards. The effortless method does not seem to carry through to shorter distances. I wondering if you can make a couple video's for shorter distance clubs?
Glad you are doing well. Thank you for your support. Short shots don't have you firing the lower body hard and fast. So what is going to turn your body? You have to do this manually by turning your belt buckle. I typically say 8 iron and down. Use that as your trigger and you should be hitting great shorter shots. This is what I do. ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html
@@paulwilsongolf Thanks so much for getting back to me. will be trying that out today. On a side bar, there are a couple of guys from my club looking at the possibility of doing a golf camp, (i.e. lessons in morning and playing in afternoon), is that something you offer. Being from Canada we like to head south to escape the cold. 🙂
Well I am teaching until Dec 15th then I will be off until March 15. Although it we do have some warm days here over the winter we also have freezing cold days so I now take winters off. We can look to mid March if that makes sense. I won't know my schedule until Dec. You can contact me through my website paulwilsongolf.com Thanks.
I started the golf school at Angus Glen. Haven't been back in years. I can actually work with anyone, anywhere in the world now with my new app. It is live, video coaching. You can find out more here: bodyswing.com/coachlink People who have used it are loving it because now they know what to work on. This is not swing analysis. This is live video coaching. Take a look.
Thank you for the inside of a pro golfer practice routine - please consider a video on practice for weekend golfers - I’m interested in driving range practice & driving net practice - I practice more then I play golf - I also practice with ( the hanger ) and a indoor mat called ( Acu-Strike ) thank you once again keith from San Francisco-
Hi Paul I tried doing that 2/3 distance with pitching wedge and turning off my hands, ball still went 90 ish yards than added more speed with body keeping hands off and was hitting wedge 110 yds. hope I can carry this over to other longer clubs in time. by the way all the balls were with in 30 ft of each other. I know this works and want to thank you !
Paul...I’m trying your swing method because I feel like I’m swinging 200mph but in reality it’s like 90mph. My question is...are you supposed to feel as though you are just “dropping” your arms when you start the downswing? I’m just not clear on this. Thx
Thanks so much. Pleased to meet you. I have a big following in Germany for some reason. Please email me and we will talk. I can't post a url in here so you will have to search for me in google. just type in paul wilson golf and my site will come up. Then email me.
@@paulwilsongolf I'd be camera intimidated myself. As for me, after 3 weeks of watching your "tips" and inconsistent hitting at the driving range, I'm finally internalizing hips and legs, slow swing (without arms) and loose wrists. I'm not hitting as far, but much more control and consistency.... which feels much better and easier. I'll do this for a few practice days, and then hope to progress to speed and then distance. Thank you for all your efforts.
If you are now hooking the golf ball that is correct, now you would just have to slowly start to add some body to straighten the shot out. If you are still slicing the ball then you have not rolled your wrists over enough...still too tight.
I feel I'm doing well with your system at IG. Since starting two weeks ago I've developed a blister on my upper right index finger. Is this a sign of something I'm doing right/wrong ? also, I can't hold that finish yet, it's a strain to touch the shaft to my neck. I'm a 55 year old former competitive weight lifter.
Glad you are doing well and glad you are part of the team. You should post these questions on there so I can email you links to different tips. Easier that way. I would think you don't have the V formed properly on the right hand. If it is not together it may wiggle as you get to the top. This rubbing would make it sore as well as contacting the ball off center. Off center hits create shock that need to be absorbed. If your wrists are tight it will wiggle in your hands too. Just search the grip tips on IG and trigger finger. I have a tip on it on there.
He still looks like he's swinging with his arms. That left arm is crossing his chest right away. You normally talk about the body being the engine and getting a good body turn but he doesn't seem to be letting that happen. He seems so stiff.
Yeah, he was but vs. when he started he was much better. I can only explain and show people what to do. It is up to them to do it and keep doing it. He now knows what to work on. I would think he will get looser and looser. About 30mins before we shot again, he was looser. When you put a launch monitor in front of people they always want to swing harder.
Launch monitors can do that. You need to use the monitor to see what affect your swing changes are having on your swing not to see how high you can get it. Keep in mind he was on camera under pressure. He did hit it even better off camera.
He knows that and what to work on into the future. Put that monitor down and people want to hit hard. About 30 mins before that he was hitting it even better.

You can give your student all the golf lessons you want, but the fact is he has very limited golf talent. Will probably play off 16-24 handicap for the rest of his life
Well I just have to get them to do practice swings at home which seems to be like pulling teeth. No ball means you can make changes undisturbed. Make the changes. Build the swing. Easily doable but the person has to want it.

4 hours!! ...couldn't last through a 4 hour lesson...liked the results..
Well, it is not 4 hours of straight hitting balls. We do go over things and we do lots of practice swings. Flies by pretty quick.
1.44 smash factor is good ...
Not great. You want closer to 1.50. The one he hit 224 yards was 1.49 smash factor. This swing showed how a better strike got the best results.
funny how he seems to be swinging easier and then at the end in front of the monitor he is swinging hard again
Launch monitors can do that. You need to use the monitor to see what affect your swing changes are having on your swing not to see how high you can get it. Keep in mind he was on camera under pressure. He did hit it even better off camera.
Is that measuring carry distance?
Yes, carry distance.
