- After reviewing some known media players, I thought it was time to take things a step further and build an HTPC that could potentially be more powerful than the Nvidia Shield for $100+ more.
In this latest review, I put this build to the test just to see how far this budget HTPC can go and you definitely don't want to miss the results!!

Hey all im a noob at this but i have always wanted an all in one simplified htpc for maxed Resolution for emu 4k gaming 4k movies 4k streaming and vr with an easy use interface like xbmc kodi launchbox
I wanna use
Amd ryzen 5 3600
Msi gef rtx 3080
Pioneer bdr 209
On a asus rog b550 f gaming mb
Storage and case im still trying to figure out not sure what to do
idk still pretty new any tips or suggestions for me
The biggest hurdle I'm finding for a complete experience comes with HDR. I'm not quite sure if the next version of KODI will have HDR support. A lot of people have been using MadVr as an external player inside KODI.
As for apps I did a tutorial on using Advanced Emulator Launcher to launch windows 10 apps. Launch boxs has a Kodi app so that was an easy setup.
If anything else, I recommend going to the htpc reddit community. You'll definitely get more suggestions there.
I also forgot, get a keyboard remote as using regular controller for navigation or just a pc remote is not always going to be feasible
why a 3400G if you are going to give it a GPU?
Ryan F the 3200g should be enough.
Is it a bad idea to buy a used pc to make a media player in 2022
Not at all. It all comes down to what you want in that used pc. For example, there are certain requirements for HDR and 4K support. Then you have certain games or emulator that only support a 64bit CPU. So you just want make sure that used PC checks all your boxes.
Sorry I am looking for what the title described, An htpc, not low range gaming pc
