I use kodi with the emby add-on on the client PC (laptop connected to the TV). In the server (aka my desktop) I run emby for managing libraries, meta, subtitles and to stream to the clients.
For downloads I use sonarr, radarr, nzbhydra and nzbget. It's all automated.

I would use the Odroid-N2 with CoreElec over the Raspberry Pi 4 if you want a nice standalone kodi experience. You won't have to buy heatsink either or a case that acts like one as the whole bottom has a heatsink.

Just an extra tidbit: I'd recommend sticking to Raspberry Pi for these kind of projects for one simple reason: HDMI-CEC.
Being able to navigate Kodi with your own TV's remote is a far better experience than having to power up a controller. It also makes it more friendly for non-gamer family members.
I don't know about the NUC in particular but most PCs lack HDMI-CEC on the HDMI output so you'll have to either get something like a PC remote that works via usb dongle or bluetooth (i.e. logitech harmony?) or an adapter that goes between your PC and the HDMI and provides CEC capabilities.

Why am I not surprised at all that Chris is a movie/tv-show storage junkie? (I am one myself) How can I tell? Look in the upper-right corner which shows the movies, for the "a*" and "b*" alone there were a lot of titles. Of course he has most of the DC- and Marvel-movies and a the well known sf-movies. :) Now I want to know if he also has a lot of manga on it. I noticed that he also has Top Gun, I watched that movie again a few years ago, oddly it hasn't aged a bit, it doesn't feel old to me.
