Story behind this song is really sad. :( Tony had a friend who was an amazing artist. He once draw a portrait of his father, and just a few days after it was finished, he passed away. Months later his friend asked him to draw a portrait of him and so he did. A few days later, also he died. He hasn't drawn anything ever since.
You mean Tony had a friend, who's father died after Tony's friend made a portrait of him, and then the friend asked Tony "Tony, make a portrait of me!" And Tony did...and the friend passed away so Tony hasn't made a drawing again? Or was it a third friend that asked Tony's friend for a portrait?
This song, White Pearl, Black Oceans, and his guest appearance on Epica's White Waters are the three songs that showcase his true vocal potential. It's too bad that we'll probably never get a Tony Kakko-Roy Khan duet.
Tony knew a very talented painter, this painter decided one day to draw a portrait of his brother, sadly his brother passed away very shortly after he painted the picture The painter painted a portrait of his father a few years later and his dad passed away a short week after The painter now refuses to ever paint again this is the story behind the great song
talk about a nostalgic moment............well this song is great and i love it! ...when i have found a song that makes me cry...ill let ya know...................and im letting you know, this song made me cry
i am happy that after 20 years many people discovered sonata arctica and finally they get the attention they deserve but i am lucky to have enjoyed their music since year 2000 to this day...and they are a completely different band but still rock those were the days
@Wolkenkotze Dude... He said it at a concert right before playing this song. He also said he thought that it was terrible waist of talent that he stopped drawing. I've got a feeling that this is a true story... Unless you tell me that you heard from Tony that it's not true.
yes but replica and don't say a word were great to :D I also enjoyed the drum game with we will rock you. you know I even got a plectrum :D but I still don't know from who he is. but I'm happy having one
@biscoitosss i assume you're trying to say "i don't have this video anymore so i can't edit it" there's something on youtube called "annotations" you can place over it ;)
haha that's funny. you have lady fortuna by your side. I looked at the ground after they played but I couldn't find anything. I thought maybe there was one still on the ground.
@RobedBassist Sonata Arctica always has a genius texts...somethimes all song is just normal and then one text and its starting to be amazing song...that's why I love Sonata so much.Tony has amazing voice, music is good and text r incredible.like..." U cast a perfect shadow on my paper, I fear the way U know me, love can leave a strain" and many more...I love song Don't say a word by them, and I love song by apocaliptyca where Tony is singing-Don't care...
@thelivingbrain123 me too:0 It's the most beautifull song by Sonata...Tony Kakko is amazing and Sonata always have great words...almost poetic in their songs:)
i love this song...i really like drawing... and i'd be really sad if i had to give up drawing because it'd kill the people i care about... so the lyrics have real meaning to me... Sonata Arctica is my favorite band since i'm a metalhead (3 years) and i hope it'll still be when i die of old age :)
Sodeska, this is my favorite song of Sonata Arctica and the more beautiful. I dedicate this song for my love, cain-sama, ofthe anime Trinity Blood, becuase I love...
now this is just beautiful song, why ppl down it well all are titlet to their opinion ofc. just a gr8 tune :) sadly sonata did fall afar from these songs in thier newer songs:)
I WAS THERE!!!! My friend and i drove from NE pennsylvania to see nightwish at ramshead live. we were an hour outside baltimore when we got the call. it wasn't nightwish, but sonata arctica did a hell of a job making it up to us. this was my favorite song they sung.
The song is made after a rumour or a fairytale: An artist who stopped painting living things because every single person he painted died shortly after, of unknown reasons. Great Tony himself said it on a concert.
I saw them live last night... they played this... it was utter bliss for the ears.. I CANNOT believe it was a live performance even though I was there.... they sound SO perfect live
@demnsdaSo your telling me to look up information posted by other people from the internet for facts? This guy who made this vid can't even spell failed. It does tie in to the lyrics and I can see it being true, but I don't take everything I read on the internet as fact; especially if its from other sources and not Tony. I would just ask Tony where he got the idea for the lyrics in person next time I catch them on tour. I already met the man twice; he's very accessible.
I can't believe my ears when this guy sings. He is amazing
powerful voice indeed yes
Indeed
Tony kakko is only one

Can't forget the misery
khan kakko and allen. i don't think life would be the same if the three came together.

Not fair, Anette was sick on the night of their concert in MD, so Nightwish wasn't there. But it was still an amazing concert.
@nsskid Essentially, a very old man on his deathbed reflects on a long-lost lover he had a very long time ago. He realizes his life was a failure.
same happend after 'good enough is good enough'.
I didn't really see the use for that either, but I don't really mind.
anyways, love this song :D
i saw them on like september 21 and when they opened for Nightwish best concert EVER!! but thats my opinion
@thelivingbrain123 My best friend had said the same thing. When he died in an accident I gave him this gift by putting this song at his funeral....

"Morning's here, i must have...... Failed......"
Tony is probably one of the most powerful male singers out there in my opinion. Also a great writer.
Beautiful song *-*
