It’s funny, when they were searching for a boat the whole thing revolved around accomodating a future family. One of the reasons they claim for quitting is the boat is not suitable for their family because there’s no room for crew/family 😂

I see too many people playing the keep up with the Jones game. Everyone thinks they need a larger boat then find they can not afford it.
They turned me off very quickly with their crying and begging for money.
They will find it difficult to sell her due to a crashing economy wherein most will be struggling to maintain basic necessities. They should realize since they got the boat for free, they should sell it to a sponsor for a very low price. Or at teh very least give back the money Tha paid for that boat.

  • @BillJohnston-y7o

If I were the owner of that boat, I'd take 100k off that price. In life everyone takes losses, once in a while. Don't wait till the economy tanks and it sits for years. It's coming folks, sad to say.

I wish nothing but prosperity for Atticus. Sunk cost is a real thing, but sounds bad when referencing a sailboat. Bottom line is if I have that much cash, I have a lot of options. Cut and run Jordan, sell quickly before the market tanks.

Sorry but this sounds crazy to sell your house to live on the boat full time. With millions of people fighting to get into a home along with rising housing prices and interest rates, it will be even more difficult to get back into a house once you get tired of this lifestyle. Most people quit this boating lifestyle after a few years for many reasons. Just remember that every year your boat is depreciating in value while real estate continues to go up in value. For example, say your house is worth 700K and you sell it now. Years down the road when you get sick of this lifestyle and want to go back into a house again, an equivalent house that you want to live in may cost you $1.2M and with an even higher interest rate! On top of that, you now have to pay an even higher property tax just to live in the same kind of house that you lived in before. So unless you got $10M in the bank, this lifestyle is not practical.

I have no intentions of ever sailing a boat I'm kinda scared of the ocean but I would in a heart beat go stay on zingro or Atticus for a week in the Bahamas especially if it was like a curse with all inclusive meals and entertainment I'd probably go at least twice to get to stay on each boat. I'm not a big fan of their boat but do appreciate all the work and improvements they've done. I would look at their channel off and on. It is a bit sad that they spent all that effort and money only to sell it. Even worse imho is that they spent 99% of their 10 years island and coastal hopping (only 1 ocean crossing - right?) cramped up on boats ill suited for that type of adventure and living. Last but not least I do have to wonder (and I am just wondering) how much of their decision about having a stable life etc. is an income based one. I have some friends with a channel and they budgeted based on projected income from RUclips, merch and (especially!) Patreon during covid. Donations etc. have dropped and stabilized at about half their highest earlier level and now with supplies and maintenance they are, for the time being, more or less slightly above the sustenance level. The topic of moving to shore has come up several times but they're young-ish, don't have children, enjoy what they are doing and have decided to continue for now. Anyway enough of that - here is to hoping that Sailing Atticus has some luck and find a buyer in the near future.
