- UPDATED The 2024 version of the best settings to provide you a tactical advantage in Escape from Tarkov.. This is not a guide specifically to increase your FPS, though most of the settings I'll be adjusting will increase your performance... the main goal here is to improve visibility and provide a tactical advantage.

00:26 what's the difference between performance and good fps ?
hey just a quick question would you be able to list your spec in the disctription of the video just like cpu gpu so people can estimate what there lod qulity and texture quality should be?

how to make image sharp and clear - Step 1) Enables TAA 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for this. I’ve only recently started messing with the nvidea settings after watching one of your previous vids. Game changer. The short description on each setting you’re tweaking is great too, helps a lot!
The military teaches look right to left if you want to spot things moving, so if your playing and want to spot someone moving in a treeline scan from the right to the left. Opposite of reading.
Does that actualkly make a difference? Would it stick out more since you are accustomed to seeing left to right? Interesting
@@spoolinsvt6489 yeah it does, idk how to explain it in words but when youre looking from right to left your eyes spot irregular things easier and things that stand out really pop if that makes sense
@@vishi7628 yeah that makes sense. Thanks, I’ll give it a try. Half the time I might as well be blind it feels like
@@spoolinsvt6489 in real life, it’s a bro science placebo. In videos and video games, it doesn’t matter. If you need someone to tell you it works so that you can start using your brain to recognize irregularities then do what it takes.
For those who cant use their brains; the best way is to do multiple quick scans like you’re speed reading a book. Then clap your hands twice and spin in your gamer chair. You’ll always spot them this way.
@@spoolinsvt6489 yeah fr tho
Holy shit, and i was bumbeling around in the dark and wondered for years why so many of my firefights at night were totally onesided...
Yeah it helps not having to run nv
Adjusted my settings and now I am the best videogame gamer out there on the internet. Thanks Lew

Finally a settings video! Been asking for this one for a while
For lack of color in tarkov especially if you use HDR, make sure High-Quality Color is enabled then go to postfx tab and select boost as your grading set it to 100. You can mess with the rest of the sliders yourself. I run this top to bottom: 100, 100, -100, 100, 100, 100. Change these if you ever do night raids theres a couple that make nvg so clear
I'm looking at building my 1st pc specifically to play this game (yes I hate myself). But this was very helpful for me to understand what parts I'm going to need to get the best settings I'll be wanting. Thank you
Did you build your rig yet?
Some corrections:
LoD ( Level of Detail ) Quality will determine how high or low poly the objects are in distance. It won't affect at what range PMC/Objects render in, the lower the settings the lower poly/detail the objects will be in distance.
Overall visibility will do what it says, in long range maps like Shoreline, Woods, etc you would ideally want higher visibility since it affects at what range objects render, 1500-2000 should be fine for most cases. Both LoD and Visibility also has significant performance impact and they somewhat work together e.g. Low visibility and high LoD should give about same performance as High Visibility and low LoD.
For AMD users - go to custom colour in radeon settings to adjust contrast/brightness/saturation.. then open "Display Colour Calibration" from the start menu, when it is open pin it to the taskbar, then when in game alt tab and open the Display Colour Calibration app and press next a few times till you see gamma and increase it using the slider, then DONT close the Display Colour Calibration app, just minimise it and there you go! you can keep it on the gamma setting (minimized of course) and when done playing tarkov you can lower the gamma to default (reset button on app) then you don't have blown out gamma when using pc as well.. a pc xD (i copied my response to another person on this comment thread)
Where is the display color calibration is it in amd?

This was the clearest guide I’ve seen on this subject.
Your last vid of this is what got me hooked onto your channel, now there's another one!? 😭Man how time flies💯
Glad to see you making these videos, because when I first started this game, I never thought to change my monitor settings. The game was pitch black in dark areas and I didn’t understand how anybody could play like that. Took me forever to just turn up the gamma lmao.
yes me too I felt just recently like i barley saw two pmc's before they shot me I stood still both times to take a double take one was a rat in a bush cust ruaf extract the other was cresting a wooded and bushy hill on shorline.
A recommendation following the color blind segment (5:08), instead of turning Tritanopia up, I would recommend turning your colorfulness up. It makes the greens more greener, but keeps blue things blue instead of turning them purple.. Tritanopia also makes your gun look more purple, while colorfulness makes it look more blue. I am also not going into the Nvidia settings because I don't like what it does outside for Tarkov. If you do change you're Nvidia settings what I say might not apply.
Is there a way to change between two profile of Nvidia control panel ? Or I have to tweak the setting everytime I launch and quit the game ?
Dude. I have said it before, but I'm gonna say it again; you make the cleanest and best videos!
11700k , 64gb ram, rtx 4070 ti
It doesnt matter if I put high or low, in streets, I hace the same FPS all games… gpu and cpu in high are working at 43% and 45%… this game is really really optimized by a monkey :(
I dont know what else I can adjust to have more fps on streets. 1200hours in this game, and no improvement.
Ohh Anyway, thanks for the video! 👍🏻 nice explained
Man has the best video edits ever ! Keep up the good work buddy
Tarkov players explaining why you need to go into the settings on your PC and Tarkov to make the game not look fucking terrible. Tarkov players explaining how realistic the game is when everyone jacks the brightness up on Night raids instead of using NODs.
All the best players do this, and unfortunately if you don’t use tactical advantages like this… another player will… and they’ll likely kill you.
Unless you want to keep dying to other people doing this, you might as well join them until BSG fix lighting so you can’t do this, like Rust has.
Whilst you might not be mentioning me when you said this, I also hate the whole realism tarkov conversation, it’s a video game, screw realism just make it a good game!
i can tell you are a TERRIBLE pvp player 😂
Wow this dude just said lew is bad at pvp, he must be a tard. Add the re.
2:37 you have the anistropic filter off, then 5:30 min is selected in the options. First you say turn it off and after a few minutes of the videos you have this option turned on? I think I'm missing something here. First something turned on, then turned off, it's hard to take what you say seriously, but it looked interesting.
Good edit and video Lew!
Something quite important if you like using lasers, due to the way TAA works, it makes the laser very hard to see while moving. Using no AA with 0 sharpening will keep the noisiness down while having a clear visible laser. I wouldn't recommend this on resolutions below 1440p as not having any anti aliasing looks quite bad on lower resolutions.
The eft color management filter that you make default seems to do this outside of nvidia. I can see farther into the dark hallways ect
great vid lew, love the vids. favorite tarkov streamer.
Awesome another great job. I am sure I will watch this 10 to 15 times too
the most entertaining tarkov player and the only tarkov content i can sit through 👍😂
Thanks man. Appreciate the deep explanations
thanks. I was copy of some setting and this is IT. Big thanks mate.
Thanks for the tips. I did most of this except for the nvidia control panel stuff... I play too many games that aren't Tarkov to bother with changing that every time I hop on, and with Tarkov I only mess with SPT these days so it's all good.
If you change the individual R, G, B in Nvidia settings you basically can emulate the PostFX without losing frames.

2. Work tirelessly for months and do a design overhaul of the entire lighting system.
3. Will release in the next unity engine update as a patch (in 3 years)

03:57 How did you do that? The PostFX controls and the current game in one screen???
Still just tryna figure out why sometimes getting less than 60 fps with a 14600kf and 7900 xt
can you explain why you would use full screen over borderless if you have dual monitors. I seriously doubt that is the better option when on dual. if its for single absolutely. But when on dual monitor, having full screen actually doubles the work your PC has to do anytime you alt tab. so you would be stuck not alt tabbing at all.
Sorry bro. I've don't understand. You use post fx or not ? Thank you
For sure have to try some of these. Honestly, it doesn't even look that bad considering what I expected.
This is so helpful! Thanks Lew! 💜
this video has changed tarkov from a stuttering pile of junk to a smooth youtube looking beast factory. first raid with new settings took a 2 man squad as a scav down and filled stash. thank you
Helped me clean my game up a ton❤
Dop vid! This gamma thing helps so much! Cheers!
will need to try tweaking my settings, been meaning to do it for a while appreciate the video 💜
What ever happened to the postfx follow up?!?!
Anything over 65 FOV the zoomed scopes are off. you can shoot at something and the bullet hits lower than where the reticle is set at. Its been a bug since they added 75 fov
Very helpful video. Thanks a lot !
My computer is a laptop and the nvdia setting is not visible, where can I find it?
AH- Look. I agree. It will help you see, but my eyes physically started hurting upon you turning up that gamma.
I get it, but damn, I wish stuff like the fog and darkness was different so you wouldn't need to compromise between tactical and eye hurt.
why fullscreen? while in fullscreen mouse in stash feels insalely laggy and slow because of 60fps lock in lobby, while borderless allows your mouse to work on 144hz or whatever you have
less actual delay during raids
game typically runs better as well
Placebo @@sharkscanplay2890
great video!
Wow, I tried adjusting my monitor settings and it makes everything look...weird. it's almost like there's a film grain effect being applies when i crank the gamma and contrast up. looks kinda awful.
Interested to see if you use process lasso or the RAM cleaner. I’ve recently started using these and my game feels much smoother.
Do we have to reset them every wipe/update? Also can you do a video of popular controls for inventory/all controls + the ones you use?
Didn't think a concise settings video was possible at all, never mind one that actually informs you on how it all works instead of just rambling for 8 minutes before showing you a postfx screen for 10 seconds. Great job.
im struggling to not run into a group as a solo, past 10 games i played 7 of them i saw other pmc and out of 7 were all groups most of which were 3+. groups of 2s aren't too bad because after u get the first guy its just a 1v1
Great video just what I needed.
trying to get dark areas to look clearer is not working for me, even on night raids i cant get it to look like yours, when i put gamma all the way up and then adjust contrast it just ends up with a red tinge and not clear :( not sure what elsse to do but awesome vid
There's is also the ICC profile trick, IMO it looks a bit better, avoids using insane brightness and postfx settings that can take a few fps
Ive never seen more than like 5 fps difference, i7 10700k + 4070 + 32gb ram
dude the game looks way better and fun to play thanks for the setting ❤
can you make one of these on audio as well?
I just wished they would optimize the damn game. With my exact setup most brand new triple A games even games like arma/DayZ I hit 240 fps with minor settings reductions. Tarkov I could only hit that @ 1080p rock bottom settings with dlss assuming I had a 4090.
Can you include your nvidia control panel settings?
YEASS KEEP THE VIDEO COMING
no more high quality color? is there a reason?
Do you have the settings for amd from a friend by any chance?
What kind of monitor do you use as main?
i dont have the display tab in my nvidia control panel. anyone know why?
so is there a way to automaticaly switch profiles in the control panel?
Big W for seeing how we see what you see.
Is there any possibilty to make shorcut for gamma to switch on with one button? Messing with it all the time is pain in the ass. Got stream deck. Anyone?
Unfortunately not, there are some 3rd party apps on GitHub that do that but would need to make scripts I think do put it on streamdeck specifically
Its crazy how i only have a 1660 super before i tweaked my settings i wouldn't even hit 60fps and now that ive tweaked all my settings and overclocked my cpu my game runs over 100fps easy unless i play streets 😊
Adjust gamma on amd adrenaline?
object LOD has nothing to do with render distance tho... its for the models in the game. higher LOD quality means higher quality props. Its about the poly count used for an prop/object
LOD in Tarkov directly effects render distance of PMCs, if you don’t believe me check it for yourself
Thanks Lew!
I tough i see when i put my glasses on, but then i found this video!
anyone have tips for night lighting with AMD adrenaline?
I have 4060 and 5800x3d textures high or medium?
So why does it HAVE to be full screen I’ve seen many streamers and RUclipsrs suggest borderless for tarkov because it gives them the most consistent frames…
Borderless forces vsync enabled, more input latency. Some people can’t feel it I guess. Fullscreen has much better latency /frame times
@@2Lew This is not true since Optimization for windowed games was implemented in Windows 11. There is no difference between exclusive fullscreen, fullscreen running with Full Screen Optimization enabled or borderless/windowed with Optimization for windowed games enabled. Earlier, Tarkov had some performance issues with Fullscreen Optimizations and got increased FPS when disabling FSO (under the compatibilty tab, properties for EscapeFromTarkov.exe) but I cant see any difference with later eft patches and more recent windows updates.
people keep saying hbao helps player silhouettes pop out in dark areas. anything true about that?
yeah there is an element of truth to that as HBAO does tend to outline things with shadow, so it could help. its preference to be honest.. but with that being said I will test this out in offline for next time :)
@@2Lew I did not expect an answer and so quick too. I am positively surprised, thank you!
I must be honest, the fact that ppl can tune settings to the point where they don't even need Nvg's is sad :( The game is suppost to be dark at night, like Stalker Gamma for example, whats the point if you can just avoid it? Completely breaks the game Imo :(
I always find your tips interesting but i think this kind of thing is very system dependant in some cases. Like TAA will make it harder to spot things the lower your resolution is. Sometimes it's best to have no anti alliasing and lower sharpness.
very good one!!
So you made that vid, just to say at the end "its up to you" and "personal preference"?
me when i have an AMD gpu 😭😭😭
SETTINGS FOR AMD AS WELL?
I'm supprised BSG doesn't add in a skill for viewing distance so when your a timmy you are blind then when you get higher seeing skill level you get a huge advantage lmao.
Never released the postfx vid I see...almost sub'd.
monitor sets?
good sir what if you have AMD - how do i use settings there
You cant. There are some graphic settings in adrenaline software, but you cant adjust brightness/contrast the way you do with nvidia software.
@@1cocolemonsyes you can lol
how then good sir. Can you post some proof. I have messed with adrenaline software quite a bit and I am not able to achieve this?@@Solid_Dude

Good job
It’s kinda sad that one can just override the game like that, and pretty much remove the night element. Ruins the intention of having a night/day cycle, and nvgs…
