I agree. I think it's a hilarious juxtaposition considering their sound is heavily and mostly inspired by Christmas music. Mostly Phil Spectors Christmas album. If you listen to the song Christmas by Darlene Love off the Phil Spector album, you can definitely hear it.

@@ChickenFriedDryEraseMarkers ... yes... Brian idolized Spector. Their music is heavily influenced by Chuck Berry and the Four Freshmen. It advanced far, far beyond any of those influences. They created a whole new sound. Iconic.

for ages to come. It feels like you enter this time portal and feel nostalgic even though you did not
exist at that time! I have no doubt their music will live on and on.

I actually did this song at an open mic one night. I usually do Folk or Folk/Rock songs. But when I did this song, most of the audience sang the chorus part along with me. Didn't really expect that but it was great and it just went to show how some music cuts through the genres and the ages. Great reaction.

My son was born in 1984 but alongside Nirvana and Slipknot he just loves anything from the late '60s and right through the '70s. He says it's because the musicianship is so much more interesting and varied. The bands from then, Beach Boys included weren't afraid of trying something new with chord progression and key choices in general. He's a bassist, so he does have a clue what he's talking about.

I grew up in that era where every kid picked up a guitar and tried to put together a garage band. I grew up about 5 miles from the Beach Boys (Hawthorne, CA). The brass ring in music seemed possible, and The Beatles in A Hard Days Night made it look so incredibly cool. And once in a while a genius appreared in a garage somewhere and magic happened. Case in point Brian Wilson.

The Brain of the group Brian would eventually stop touring and they brought in Bruce Johnston to feel the void. Brian Wilson would have many set backs mentally in his life which would be so serious he became bedridden but would ultimately find his way back to a somewhat normal life.🙏💙

The 3 Wilson brothers' dad Murry was involved in the production of this song. He thought that he was a genius musician and coached Al Jardine while he was singing it. Shortly after this... the band fired Murry and told him to stay away from the studio. Jardine was a high school friend on the football team with Brian. Loved folk music. He still performs some with his Endless Summer Band. He's about 84 and his voice still works ok.

I always knew when the Beach Boys was put in the tape deck we weren't going home for a while because he would drive for miles and miles. I remember at 13, him driving and I was sitting passenger, towards the end of this song we started talking about it. He said something I didn't understand for years later, "Mrs. Robinson's first name is Rhonda." After he passed I was driving around by myself and both songs came on the radio one after the other and I slammed on the brakes and let out an OH! SHIT! and started cracking up. Thanks, Pop.

I remember hearing a story about Brian Wilson writing material for a new album in the 60's. He'd almost finished when The Beatles released the White Album, which was such a new sound Wilson tore up what he'd produced.

It’s as if Brian Wilson found the mathematical formula to create the catchiest tune ever. It’s incredible

Lex is adorable. Perhaps it's the sense of simple times that draws her in...
Love the contrast between her be-bopping to the Beach Boys while sport a Megadeath tee! 😆 #genrefluid #innocence #rebound #librarian

I feel exactly how you did about going back to the 50's and 60's. I feel like I was born too late.

There's just something about the Beach Boys. I remember a school trip back in '94. Someone had a cassette tape with their greatest hits and persuaded the bus driver to put it on. And a whole bus full of 14 year old's were singing along with the whole album.
