      I know you’re most likely joking, but I absolute loved my visit to this pretty and historic city. How could you not appreciate its beauty and architectural significance?
      Having many highlights including the gothic masterpiece that is Lincoln Cathedral; the world’s tallest building from 1311 - 1548 (when spire collapsed) - the first building to hold that title since the Great Pyramid of Giza. Only one cathedral (so far) has ever managed to surpass its height - Ulm Minster in Germany. One of the highlights inside are the exquisitely carved 14th century choir stalls.
      Lincoln not only contains a world class cathedral, but charming medieval streets such as “Steep Hill” and “The Strait”; lined with historic buildings - including two extremely early houses built in 1150 (Jew’s House), 1170 (Norman House) and 1157 (St Mary’s Guildhall) *an extremely rare thing throughout Europe. There’s even one in a tiny village (close to Lincoln) called “Boothby Pagnell”, known as “Norman Manor House” - built between 1190-1200. There are some other early buildings from around 1200 also in Lincoln.
      Then it has the medieval Lincoln castle, “High Bridge” built in 1160 (with 16th century shops above), and the Roman city trail including the nearly 2000 year old Newport Arch, many medieval city gates etc. Loads of history!
      If that’s not something to be proud of... then I don’t know what is. Outside of the “Old Town” will undoubtably be less attractive, but this is the norm for most European cities. Overall a great city - hope that you can see where you live in a different light.

    • @shelbycasha
      @shelbycasha 4 года назад

      Tamara Carter hi I understand where you’re coming from, and it is a beautiful city! Especially the bailgate (where I actually have a 3 story Victorian house) it’s a really pretty and historical place. However I was mostly referring to everything outside of the historical town which is only a small section of Lincoln. There’s a lot outside of the city centre. E.g. north hykeham, birchwood. The people are actually quite rude and despite the historical factors there’s not a lot in Lincoln. The schools are not the greatest and there is a lot of rough areas which abuse the beauty of Lincoln and that’s what I don’t like about it. If the city was inhabited by people who appreciate it, it’d be beautiful. But it’s really glum. Hope this gives you an insight. You’ve visited Lincoln but I doubt you’ve visited the housing areas or the different places in Lincoln, like st. Giles, or Ermine. And if you did you’d then probably see what I meant by my comment. These videos don’t include everything and people who visit, have a different perspective to people who live here, due to having experienced different things x

    • @tamaracarter1836
      @tamaracarter1836 4 года назад

      I completely understand what you are saying, however I was giving my opinion on the city from a “tourists perspective”. Therefore even if the outer parts are “rough” it really wouldn’t be of any consequence; because we just wouldn’t visit them. Plus, the reason I (and probably most other people), decide to travel to Lincoln would be for the *history* ; most notably the Cathedral. So there’s actually a great deal in Lincoln (as previously listed) to see.
      I live in a house built in the early 1400’s; in a well preserved medieval village in Suffolk. Some may say there is “nothing to do here”, which there isn’t in terms of pubs, shops, museums etc. The true attraction would be wandering around appreciating the brightly coloured half-timbered buildings, exploring the 12th century church, walks in the countryside etc - that’s what makes a place “interesting” to me.
      But yes, I get what you’re saying - I just thought I should give you my take on the city (that might make you appreciate it more).

    • @shelbycasha
      @shelbycasha 4 года назад

      Tamara Carter yes of course I understand you. And by the sounds of it, your house seems beautiful, I’d love to visit Suffolk. And I see from a tourists perspective how lovely Lincoln could be, with its history. However I think, yes the people who live here do ruin it. One thing that is a shame, at the top of Lincoln there are some beautiful, grand houses. Very old aswell I assume, and they’ve been abandoned and taken for granted, they’ve been boarded up and left in a mess which is quite saddening. Most of the inhabitants of Lincoln do just take advantage of these beautiful houses that could potentially make lovely homes, or even turned into a hotel, or even a homeless shelter! But a common thing I’ve noticed about Lincoln is that the people aren’t as friendly as you would imagine.

      Is it that the video didnt meet your original expectations of sarcasm and you thus feel cheated by a potentially misleading title (which isnt anything unusual on RUclips these days), or is it because you're just butt hurt?

    Lincoln is a city not a town sir

      +Inactive FIFA RUclipsr I'm less interested in explaining to you that it is both a city and a town, and more interested in asking you why you feel so compelled to take your time to affirm it as being a city and not a town. Does thinking of it as a city provide it with greater value?

    • @fabe24
      @fabe24 8 лет назад

      +Mark Christensen no I was just correcting you as Lincoln is a city not a town

    • @korbanman
      @korbanman  8 лет назад +2

      It's both a cathedral city and a country town

    • @fabe24
      @fabe24 8 лет назад

      +Mark Christensen *county town. And all that means is that it is the administrative capital of Lincolnshire. Nottingham and Derby are county towns, but are definitely cities. It's the same with Lincoln, it's a city.

      @korbanman  8 лет назад +3

      Very well, if you want to make that the distinction. If the Queen says it's a city, it's a city. Still, you know i called it a town in the video to mess with you ;)

      The next video I'll dumb it down for you then. Because all i want in the world is for you to laugh.

      Oh, and perhaps i should note that I care very little about this video and I haven't made, nor am i making any money from it. I only made it because it was fun to make at the time. I couldn't care less about this video or Lincoln or entertaining any random stranger who happens upon watching this. I do think its amusing how people react to negatively though.
