  • A couple of people suggested that I made a video of just old photos of Lincoln, without the time shift element of the new photos, so here it is...
    I've done over 350 time shifts now so these are just a selection of old photos, many of which I haven't got round to putting in time shift videos yet. Huge thank-yous go to the people that originally posted these on social media, mainly in local Facebook history groups, and also the amateur historians and writers who helped me with background information for the time shifts. I haven't annotated the photos with descriptions of where they are, I think most are fairly obvious if you know Lincoln, but if you have any queries about them please don't hesitate to ask in the comments and I'll try to help out.

    Lived in this great city for 30 year's, seen some changes. Especially the new bus station and the exchange square.. So much has gone, sometimes it's sad to see what it use to be. A part of history taken away. I certainly miss the 90's Lincoln for me. I use to go out club's and nightclubs. Thanks for sharing your photos! Fantastic.🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

    Just wow, awesome, seeing Stokes High Bridge @0:23 !! was this a renovation or something ?? amazing pics, any idea when that one was taken in particular, looks early 1900s ?
    I remember going to watch something in the Cannon Cinema in the mid 80s, before they built waterside ? wow...never seen a pic of it like that before !!! @1:25
    Can't thank you enough for these vids, breathtaking to look back and recognise some of these places, we have imo modernised Lincoln far too much, just in my short life time, let alone compared to the duration of this vid (I am 49 and moved to Lincoln when I was 16)

      Thanks for the kind words, I love doing these so it isn't like it is hard work really, only when the lap-top is running slow and crashing the video editor :)

    Thanks for sharing your photos, like so many people have said it’s a shame so much history has been destroyed due to new buildings. The town is ruined without the markets , Lincoln is trying to hard to be upmarket

    • @lightanddreamsphotography7140
      @lightanddreamsphotography7140  Год назад

      I'm not sure about the markets. I really don't think they were used as much as people think they were, or they'd have been more profitable. For decades I remember locals moaning about Lincoln shops, and travelling to Nottingham, or Peterborough etc. The Central Market is being revamped again now, it will be interesting to see what happens with it...

    Incredible photos. I have been trying to get some images of the ellis mill area. Recently bought a house and we can't figure out when it was built.

    Excellent, fantastic selection of images. I'd have liked to have seen the photographs lingered over longer so that I could have a better look before they meld into the next one. Pausing them sends them dark and with the RUclips task bar obscuring some details. Thank you for another brilliant selection.

      Thanks Dean I did wonder about putting each individual photo on for longer, and I take your point about pausing so future ones like this will be longer I think. The same happened with the time shift videos, they started off too quickly for some people so I've stretched them out more and more over the last year and I think they work better.

      The amount of work that goes into these pieces must be phenomenal and I really appreciate that you're doing them. I can, and do, watch them for hours.

      @@deanbrown9454 Cheers. The hardest thing is getting the new photos to match up properly with the old ones. I try to get it right first time,and take several new photos from slightly different positions to try and cover all bases, but sometimes they never work and I have to go back a second or third time.
