Old Railway Related Photos Around Lincoln

- My last collection of old photos in a video was so well received that I decided to make another one. But instead of general old photos of Lincoln, this collection is all related to railways in some way around the city.
There are many shots of old trains, the long lost Lincoln St. Marks railway station, bridges that were demolished when the avoiding line was closed, the old Lincoln to Grantham line, various old photos of the High Street level crossings, and one or two general oddities.
After the first collection video a few people said they would have liked longer to see individual photos, and pausing the video caused a dark shadow across part of the images. So for this video I have roughly doubled the time individual images are on screen. If you require additional info on photos please mention it in the comments, with the time of the photo, and I'll try to answer any queries.
Excellent video, its nice to see some pics of things i remember but have never been able to find on the internet
Wow, the Ladybird Shop - that took be back to being a child - thanks for including that it delighted a several members of the family 👍
Haven't been around much the last couple of weeks after a bit of surgery but nice to see a few that relate to the family history from many moons ago and my own not so dim and distant past too. Opened up with the very gates that a relative erected at the goods yard and almost cost him his life. That would have been amongst the strangest railway fatalities to ever make the newspapers.
Lovely ❤
Thank-you :)
Its quite amazing how in a relatively short space of time most of what is in the photos has just been bulldozed. thanks for going to the trouble of uploading the film. Very interesting, why did the Great Northern Hotel dissappear?
I think the hotel had got in a very bad state
These photos are brilliant, the closest we can come to a Time Machine.
Thanks Steve, I wish I could take credit for taking them :)
What is the location of 1:35 please ?? it feels familiar but not....... ?? Feels like it could be Canwick Rd looking up towards the south common and Canwick Hill, Travellers Rest and Ripon St on the right ? If so I lived on the end of those terraces houses in 1991 (number 53) almost opposite the old Office World.
You are correct :)
@@lightanddreamsphotography7140 Alex Buchannan used to own a lot of that property on Canwick Rd, he had quite a few down Ripon St as well, he went on to run that Strip Club up near the Theatre Royal.
You forgot about the old skellingthorpe train station
I didn't forget about it, just didn't have a photo of it :)
Some fantastic photographs there, I would love to know how the Tram & Mainline crossing worked at the high street crossing? A few really nice pictures of the avoiding (High Line). Would you mind if I added them to a video I created a few years ago? as per this link! studio.ruclips.net/user/videoQPm14T0xAKc/edit Credit and link to this excellent piece included of course.
Thank-you so much David. Yes by all means add whichever photos you like to your already excellent video :)
