My wife is now a dual citizen. It would be easier for her if something happened to me. She owns land and we are getting a condo. I understand me paying taxes to the US Government, but her, saying we rent our condo out to someone, if that is taxable. Seems like I need to visit the IRS for clarification, if what you said is true. Thank You for the great information you provide us. Mabuhay

Common sense is the least uncommon. If you become a naturalized US citizen, automatically your Philippine passport is VOID, even it is still valid in terms of issue date/expiry date. If you apply for dual citizenship, then you must apply for a NEW Philippine passport.

what if I apply to reacquire Philippines citizenship after naturalization to US citizen, can I use my unexpired Philippine passport when visiting the Philippines as it is a newly renewed passport?

good day if a naturalized filipino citizen not allow to apply for dual citizen?

PH dual citizenship is only given to naturally born PH citizens who acquired other foreign citizenship thru naturalization. They are given chance to re-acquire PH citizenship.

OK, I am confused. So between the time of application and taking the oath said Filipino citizen has no nationality? That doesn't make any sense.

To me it’s already a messed up situation to have a valid Philippine passport that you cannot use and not be considered a Philippine citizen. This problem stems from the fact that a Philippine law allows you to have dual citizenship but “makes you lose” your Philippine citizenship at the time of foreign naturalization only to allow you to re-acquire it for a fee. This is where the problem begins when you have a “valid Philippine passport” but it’s null and void at the same time immediately after foreign naturalization. THAT in itself is messed up and confusing a lot of citizens.

Hi, I am a dual citizen and I have both passport US and Philippines. Totoo ba na pagnag travel sa pinas ay philippine passport ang gagamitin at pagbalik dito sa US ay gamitin yong US passport? Yan ang narinig ko. Uuwi kasi ako sa November, at naku confuse ako. Sana masagot mo ito, thank you

First question is: did you get a new PH passport after reacquiring your PH citizenship?
Because when you became U.S. citizen, you lose your PH citizenship and as such your PH passport at that time becomes null and void. After reacquiring PH citizenship (hence becoming dual citizen), you have the option to get a new PH passport.

    What happens if:
    You acquired Canadian citizenship
Then you reapplied and reacquired Philippine citizenship after that.
Then you went to the US
Got naturalized in the US as a US citizen
Will you lose your Philippine citizenship AGAIN for the second time? Do you need to re-acquire it again?
I asked the Philippine consulate - they said:
    “Good question”
No answer. She said it’s best to send us an email.
