    Airoh is the best period, that's why all top European riders are using !!!

    Nice job Brian. I been running a 2.2 Airoh aviator for 5 years now. The 2.2 has been a great helmet and the light weight is what made me buy it. I'm in the market for new safety features and the 2.3 seems to have addressed that. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

    Great review, I tested this helmet today and it feels much smaller in size than the 2.2. I believe I need a size L instead of M as for the 2.2. Will the foam reshape after a while? The 2.2 Medium was on display and the 2.3 Medium was out of the box

      I think it will shape a little but it shouldn't hurt to wear!

    The cheek pads will break in after a few rides. Until then, they will be a little snug. Be glad that the Airoh helmets are not DOT or Snell certified. DOT/Snell standards are outdated and force the manufacturers to make the shell of their helmets too hard in order to comply with those standards. Because of that, more of the force from an impact is transferred to your head. The European ECE standard is much more up to date and allows the helmet to absorb more of the impact. The only downside is that your Airoh helmet will likely be toast after one substantial impact. I'm okay with that because I value my head over my helmet.

      So I compressed the pads under some weights overnight and they were still painfully tight the next day. I think over time it would have broken in somemore but I couldn't keep it on for 20 minutes without conceding to the headache. I think I would need a large, then buy the bigger cheek pad. unfortunately for me- this one didn't fit but it fit my buddy like a glove so he bought it from me. I have another few helmets to try out before I consider buying another Airoh in size LG

      What size is your head? Im size 58cm but medium is so tight for me

      @themoneypitgarage  5 лет назад

      7.25 inches, in a Kali and Arai I'm a medium, turns out I'm a large in Airoh, bell and Leatt.

      @@themoneypitgarage it wont get smaller just because you put a bible on it. Need body warm, may some swear to wear in helmet. You should be more experienced then what you said...

    I've got a bulging disk in my neck, but refuse to give up riding! I was between the Bell, Leatt and this one. Was leaning Bell just because of costs (Can find the Moto 9 for low 300, Aviators are 550-570). Aside from the cheek pads, which would you go with? We ride almost exclusively whopped out single tracks (If we avg 8-9mph, we're flying). I'm a 7 5/8 hat, so usually a L is to tight, and a XL is just a bit loose (I tend to the XL for comfort). Is the Aviator 2.3 as light as they say? We did 18 miles today, and the only thing sore is my neck.

    • @themoneypitgarage
      @themoneypitgarage  4 года назад

      hands down the Airoh ( ithink they run a hair small so XL for you). The bell is much heavier and hot. real hot. Leatt would be second, but I recommend tring one on first. Alternatively, Kali makes a carbon helmet that might be a bit cheaper and its right around 1000g. I still have a 9 year old Kali that I like to wear at night (rigged up for lights) and when its super hot.

    Update: Six Races in and I'm a little disappointed in the cooling of the Bell Moto 9 helmet. the last three races have been hot and the helmet isn't cooling me nearly as good as expected. My old Kali was significantly cooler. I'm going to do some goggle foam trimming to see if that helps but this might become a winter helmet here soon.

    I read their measurement guide online and I come in at 58CM which puts me at the top of the range for a Medium. Based on your fit experience would you go with a Medium or a Large? Thanks

    • @themoneypitgarage
      @themoneypitgarage  4 года назад

      A large. I was on the bubble, and went medium which was too tight. you should have confidence knowing that if you order and don't like it, you'll find a buyer on FB or CL in a day or less.

    how is quality comparing to shoei vfx-wr? you said shoei feels much bigger?

    • @themoneypitgarage
      @themoneypitgarage  5 лет назад

      Shoei shell is larger, at least it feels larger, I don't have side by side measurements. I'd be a Med shell, large pads in Shoei and I'd be a large Airoh shell. I think the quality is high. fabric feels great, stitching is good. these are very nice helmets.
