Out of all the setup videos I enjoy yours the most
i've been following david and i think his current one is his best one yet. besides the awkward placement of his pc, i think everything has purpose and not for the sake of "minimalism". he docks his laptop like such because he doesn't have a separate webcam during video calls, as his laptop is the one he brings to his office.

It looks like he’s using the iMac on top as a secondary screen for his MacBook, the older iMacs supported being used as a secondary monitor but only like a certain year model

That MX Master is a really nice mouse. I'm also left handed, but I'm a bit ambidextrous so I don't mind a right hand mouse. In fact I prefer a right mouse. Anyway, the MX just feels really comfortable, and that scroll wheel is probably the most satisfying thing ever. I've been a fan of Logitech mice for a long time, they really have some great ergonomics and perform well.
That Logitech MX Master 3 Mouse is great one. Im lefty too, but my old lefty mouse died and no other ergonomic mouse to left hand on market, which fits my needs. So I bought that MX Master 3 and trying to use mouse in right hand. For chill and work use, it is fine. For gaming I keeping G903

I like the laptop on the desk instead of trying to put everything on 1 monitor you could have 2 lets for example you have your work on your primary display you could have emails on the laptop display..

Matt I have a question. On the right side of my labtop. There is a small port with a symbol that has a lock with a k in it and I’m curious what that’s for.
It's a Kensington Lock it's used to lock it to a desk using a special cable

Do you guys leave your laptop lid open when you are done using it for the day?
Laptop trays are terrible for ventilation, especially if you're not running an M1 or ARM chip. Having the laptop fully or partially open might not look as good but the device will last longer because the internals and battery won't overheat.

I guess the reason why some people choose to have their laptops out on their desk is so that they can use the webcam for zoom/video calls.
Laptop tray isn't going to help when you have like 3 laptops, Mac Mini, and Digital Storm like I have.
My desks are for working. I need the laptop on the desk because I am using the screen.

Be open minded on people who needs Dual screens regardless of the size of your external display due to the nature of their work. SO don't keep on recommending to put the laptop on a tray or something.
ikr like they may actually use it or idk lets say a video on the side or discord,spotify like its annoying sometimes i use my 17 inch gaming laptops display sometimes while using my 55 inch 4k tv on my laptop tv at 1080p for better peformance but dual screens help not easy for the tv being too large but if it was a monitor id have 2 displays over my thunderbolt 4 port and then the laptop screen for 3 even if i may not use the laptop screen often or if it makes my setup that much cleaner

It sounded like you're just hating on David for the sake of saying something. That desk didn't look remotely claustrophobic. When you edited this video, you didn't even realize you put the clip of WHY his laptop is accessible like that as you were saying he doesn't need it there? Slipped over your head on that one lol.
I am probably in the minority on this one, but for me people who try to hide their PC/computer like the dude in the ikea shelf, just aren't worth of owning one. Are you ashamed of having it? Of showing it? Meh. But the fake plants, sure show them on the desk. Show that you can't be bothered to actually have some life on your desk, but you are willing to place something which pretends to be something that isn't...hmm, interesting.
*half joking. I don't really care or mind what he does with his system, it's his to do as he pleases.
About monitor risers. I always liked the idea of them, but I find that perhaps due to my size/chair shize, I don't need them for the monitor. In fact my monitors on the own stands are already high enough. I don't want to turn my head upwards. Perhaps it's just me. I have an IKEA desk (mechanical standing desk) and I have it at the lowest possible height and still wouldn't mind if I could lower it like 3cm more or so.
Having said that, the last setup is probably my favorite too, even though it's too dark for my taste. I like bright colors. Still, for some reason it reminds me of my first couple desks when I was a kid in the 80s with my computers there. Though probably my desks were far cheaper lol.
