Just before the fall of the USSR 1.6 million people there just to enjoy life. Ending the cold war with a big middle finger to government power. The citizens of each country just wanted to live and let live.
Greetings from Florida!! You have a beautiful smile. Loved your reaction, one thing I wanted to say... We love Russian people!! DONT like the leaders. I'm sure you all feel the same way about us Lol. HOPEFULLY!!!!!! Music knows NO nationality, I don't know why.. But I LOVE watching Russian people reacting to american music!!! Hope it brings us together!!!!!
The headline band for this concert was ACDC. They came on later in the evening. This was a free concert and the local authorities had only estimated about 300,000 would turn up. In the end there were 1.3-1.6 million! Sadly, 700 were crushed and had to be taken to hospital with, even more sadly, 52 dying. They had never experienced this type of concert and just hadn't prepared for it.
Thanks John for the info, I knew how many people were expected/estimated but the rest I didn't know. Tragic re:the deaths 😢 but at least they were all having the time of their lives until that point. Back then as u know there were far worse ways to go. Still very sad. Also shocking 😲that Ac/dc were the headline act? Must check that out ! Cheers mate 👍
I remember watching this on MTV on a Saturday morning with a group of friends. We were 17 and love was great. This was part of the Monster of Rock music festival. It was all great.
As a young lady you may not realize but this is at the collapse of the USSR. Makes it even more iconic. First time in the lives of these 1.6 million people that they've seen anything like this.
Your ancestors were so oppressed! When the Soviet Union collapsed, this is the good stuff that they were exposed to! Get rid of that assclown Putin and rediscover the good stuff! I don’t trust Zalensky either!! 2 ticks on the same dog. I am American and so frustrated with my country trying to imitate the failure of the 80’s USSR!!
We are all human and have free will! The question is our intentions and moral compass. If we truly love people, it will always work!! If not; then the current status quo; there, and in America, what we have to put up with! Rise against crap and take your life back!! In America, we are going to get our assclown leader out of office!!
This concert was insane. I watched Metallica in Seattle in 1989. Two years before this concert. Best concert I had ever been too, but I think this one definitely overtakes it. 1.6 million Russians going crazy. Even the Russian soldiers were going crazy during this concert. This was epic. Joe Rogan podcast brought me back here today.
Así es ese concierto fue en tu tierra, uno de los más memorables de Metallica y cuando en oxidente nos dimos cuentas que los jóvenes rusos eran como nosotros, de sangre caliente. Saludos de Chile 🇨🇱
Just lads that wanted to see the rock gods just like us in the west , they are the same ,thats what music can do no matter what kind of music you like , i'm sure they want to see Taylor Swift to etc ,
You are so cute!! I love your demeanor!! I hate that the American government is at odds with the Russian government! It’s not the people! We want peace!! Know that about us!!
I wrote a bachelor diploma about concerts and that i definitelly the biggest, loudest and wildest concert in history, estimated average from 1 to 1,6 million and 10000 soldats. They will eat them if they want. Heaven. I was nine and only a thousand kilometers away...
It looks like America needs to send Metallica back to Russia to calm their asses down this war bullshit sucks , war is not the answer , live and let live.✌️2022.. Freedom...!
Was isnt the answer.. never is.. but isnt the rest a bit ironic? America always starting wars and have them tell other countries they have to stop? #freedom
One of my favorite videos. Why couldn't they sing the chorus in Russian once? My only complaint. But wouldn't that be even more epic than this? I give it 99% but it could've been 100 if I was there.

Very sweet Russian girl enjoying one of the best Rock concert from Westerners that took place in her country way before she was born.
This video never gets old. Never fails to give me chills either.

Legend has it that there are still people leaving that concert for home.
Shout out to the camermen and their work. Along with the editors of the video...seriously. they are the real hidden heros of this video
It's nice to know we can still love each other through music. Beautiful reaction. Thank You.

”All ones or tens….”
Great reaction video, you seem very genuine!
The biggest attendance was Rod Stewart New Year's celebration at Copacabana Beach, 1994. There was estimated between 4.2 to 4.5 million people.
Now that's world peace right there 🙏
I love Metallica. Enter Sandman is one of their best songs 🤘🤘

This is a part of your country's history. Cherish it!
It’s kind of heartbreaking to watch in 2023. Russians free and hopeful for only a moment in time.

The helicopters were there to cool down the crowd.

You need headphones.

So sad that Russia turned their back against all this optimism, voted back in a Tsar that brings ruin to a whole generation and their neigbours.
