I am experimenting with digitizing a running stitch rectangle around projects like this, which only takes a couple of seconds in my software. I can line up the rectangle perfectly, and make it just the size I want, leaving the space I want around it for a seam allowance, if I need one. I stitch this box first, and then when my emb. design is done, I can use this sewing line for a cutting line, insuring that I cut out the actual fabric straight. One thing about floating is this: if you float something that must remain the same size, like a quilt block, you may find that the embroidery pulls it in and it will end up a little smaller. One way around this is to make the piece slightly bigger, and trim it down after the emb. I hope that makes sense! lol LOVE your videos!
I've made the snappy bags before using a video by gourmet quilter and the hardware that I use on the inside is from a metal measuring tape that you can buy at the dollar store
TheCraftyGemini I use blue painters tape to hold my floater in place. I don't like spraying the temporary spray glue. Blue painters tape holds it perfectly, but is easy to remove when finished.
I work at an Embroidery store and one tip I love is that if you are using nylon or poly threads, you can cut your thread as short as possible then run a lighter over it to seal the thread and make it less likely to unravel. I usually go over the entire design with a lighter just to be sure to get any loose threads. just takes a quick pass so you don't singe the fabric, but makes for a nice clean design.
Have you thought of using the pattern for sun glasses? Obviously they would need to be longer but do you think the hardware would open wide enough to fit them safely? Also, I LOVE your video's - don't ever change!
I love your tutorials! I am interested in Applique and machine embroidery. This video really inspired me! I would love to know what is the model of your Baby Lock in this video? Thanks!
I wish I could afford to just buy all of these machines and tools to make all of these projects! I have a BrotherSC9500. I'd love to try embroidery though.
I am also on a limited budget, but I just bought me a new se 400 brother embroidery & sewing machine. I only paid $299. I got this at KensSewingCenter.com Talk with Donna, She's Fantastic. They offer layaway too.
Improvise. There is always more than one way to do something crafty. Use what you have on hand. Figure out or seek out alternate ways to do a thing. For example, a bar of hand soap used down so that the sides are pencil thin can be used for a fabric marker. Another example, embroidery does not require a machine to be done, so one could take up learning the hobby of hand-embroidery. Modern tools and gadgets are just that ... modern. Before sewing machines were made, before new YET helpful gadgets/tools were made, how was it (whatever the project may be) done? Imagine yourself without the gadgets and say, "What can I use instead of this tool I do not have?" Also, thrift stores will often turn up things that you are wanting. The Dollar Tree store too! Get imaginative and improvise. Have fun and do it your way ... the way tjat you can with what you have! It's fun and satisfying to just make it happen yourself! These video instructionals are alot like recipes. A recipe gives you inspiration to make it, and you can follow it exactly with the exact ingredients or you can do substitute ingredients or simply just improvise with what you have to still come out with a great dish that you made happen.
I have old Ghee hardware I want to use to make large totes (17 inch) but it Needs a shoulder strap. Trying to decide at what point and how to attach a strap. Think they need to be quilted too. Any suggestions?
This may seem like a silly question...when cutting out the applique fabric with the paper-backed fusible web, should I use my sewing scissors or my scissors for paper?
I always go to you first when I have a a sewing or crafting question. You never disappoint! Thank you for all the energy and creativity you bring to this channel! 💖
depends on the application- I use both of these at different times: amzn.to/2kLu5Fq (I don't use these on dark fabrics) and amzn.to/2lh0ZuW. Hope that helps!
Thanks for your feedback. I'm blessed to have been born a quick thinker and fast talker. One of the perks of my FREE video tutorials is that you can always rewind and replay the video if you missed something. :)

I need to figure out how to put a lobster hook on the top to attach to a belt loop. To be used for dog treats during training! Any suggestions?
Hi Vanesa, Sulky now has a sticky stabilizer that you can use instead of temp spray.:}

Te felicito, un bonito trabajo y muy bien explicado, saludos desde Caracas-Venezuela
By chance do you sell these snap hinged items in larger sizes (13"-15")? If not, can you suggest where I might find them?
just noticed the way you've got the little grey spool cap holding the thread - did you know it goes round the other way and fits inside the spool?

You do great videos but I've always wondered how much coffee you have first. You should slow down a little bit. It would be easier to understand.
