Thing is, AI can't replace my favorite genre of youtube video: Nerds being passionate about their special interests. The sort of video where some dude talks for 20 minutes about this one thing that they can't stop thinking about, someone out in a field pointing out the neat things they found, skits that wrap up a million in jokes from a subsection of the population into 3 minutes of perfection. AI can only remix what already exists and has no personality. The heck is the fun in that?
Exactly. True passion coming from a nerd info dumping about a my little pony lost episode has more love, care will always trump entertainment made by AI. It can't manufacture the same love and care. AI can be used in ways to benefit society but the lazy grifters who want quick cash have ruined it for the rest of us.

I've watched a few videos from Emplemons talking about NASCAR and normally I'm not into that sport, but him being really passionate about it made me invested in it. The idea of getting rid of RUclipsrs who are passionate about subjects for AI generated content sounds terrifying

AI could free us from the most menial and tedious work we suffer through, and instead we're first using it to flood every creative medium possible and grind artists into dust.

Work that involves human connection or direct results or results you realizing that are happening but maybe aren't obvious, produce meaning.

The thing about that is, it‘s actually just easier to replace creatives than it is to make infrastructure changes for menial labor. Either an automated jean-hole-drill press catches on something, failing mechanically, or the community can‘t afford to loose the nickles it makes from sanding holes in jeans, so its refused despite being the better, humanist, well-intended option. To clarify, those communities are wrong for insisting the work is necessary, but the point remains. A machine takes different effort, and I‘d argue more effort. So it‘s progression is slower. There are arguably more difficulties, regarding materials, getting things built, shipping them, etc.
It‘s easier and cheaper to make an algorythm reading the internet, on a single laptop than it is to weld and manufacture a maid/construction-robot that doesn‘t need oversight to do everything a human arm can. Prosthetics and designs exist and are replicatable, but it takes materials. Anyways, have a good one.

I’ve already discussed AI art with my younger siblings (11 and 9) since my little sister is an artist. I refuse to let any companies brainwash my siblings just because they’re young.
I can see it. Just astroturf a culture of apathy around artists not being able to work the same way "Wagies taking Ls" treated food service. Convince the toddlers that workers needing jobs is "boomer" and "cringe".
You know I'm gonna be straight if despite all the extensive litterature/movies/papers that came out pointing out the dangers about A.I, we STILL have jackasses who will readily abuse it to get money or whatever then humanity deserves the fall, I'm sorry but at that point we would truely be hopeless as a specie and objectively deserve the worse to happen to us lol

Not just AI, RUclips is too. Every time I open a channel and go to “videos” on RUclips it’s set to “for you” NOT “latest” and I’m so done with it. I hope they revert this change or make it an option to default sort by latest, popular and for you.
Only way to ever find something new is to somehow know about something you've never heard of. The algorithm only recommends what I already watch. It sucks.
I have that option and the default is most recent? Maybe its a country thing?
I've gotten that on some channels, but not all of them. I think it's the largest ones who have that feature at the moment
@@SharpShooter700 my algorithm constantly presents me with new creators. Also the fact that most views come from recommendations and non-subscribers indicates that in general the algorithm does a good job

The most depressing thing about the Bloo channel is how little regard people have for the intelligence of children when farming nonsensical content for them so they can make vast profits. The UK has a legacy of superb children's programming, where the content was created with great love and care, particularly people like Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate who made Bagpus, the Clangers and Ivor the Engine, or the great children's programming hosts like Neil Buchanan or Dave Benson Phillips, they all took pride and care when creating content for children and there were so many wonderful role models for a generation. Say what you will about TV but for children it's heavily regulated (at least in the UK), to make sure what they watch is appropriate. Now, children being thrown in front of RUclips instead are being given absolute brain rot, they don't learn anything, it's not healthy for them, its just obnoxious noise, giving kids what they want, rather than what they need. It's an absolute tragedy and a lost art.
I feel sad for kids growing up with youtube as their only source of entertainment. I'm only 24 but I can watch any show I watched when growing up and they have substance I watch them and I see yes I understand why I liked as a kid. A lot of them have actually love put into them they never underestimated the intellect of kids and put thought provoking things in their shows.
I miss between the lions, it unironically taught a spanish speaking kid a few things about the english language, there was also the usual values found in other shows of its time but I preferred this one over sesame street for some reason
if lazy parents didn't just shove a tablet in their kid's hands as soon as they're able to blink it wouldn't be such a problem
The worst thing is the parents of these kids. They’ll just throw their kids in front of RUclips so that they don’t cry or scream. What are they watching? Who cares? Will there be consequences later down the line? Probably, but why worry? They probably didn’t even want children, they just thought it was expected of them or parenting wasn’t that hard or something. It’s a disgrace

I already know AI will implode on itself, at least here on RUclips. Audiences HATE content farms with a burning passion, be it ElsaGate, Spill, SunnyV2, JakeTran, Illuminaughtii, etc. When faced with the choice of art with personality or the Uncanny Valley, people are going to choose their fellow humans. I can already see the "This channel is just a content farm" or "This person is just an AI voice" accusations on all the tea/drama channels now.
The people who care are probably not the majority of the population. It still gets views, and the dangers of AI goes far beyond art and RUclips. Big corporations have probably already discovered ways to market products or brainwash people into thinking certain ways. News organizations could use it to completely dominate a certain narrative. We opened the box and there is no closing it

I think the fear of writers being pushed out by AI comes not from the idea that writers are replaceable, but the idea that AI is infinite, and writers are limited, and capitalism will always choose infinite growth. Always. To quote James Stephanie Sterling, they don't just want money, they want all of the money forever. RUclips will become flooded with these generated videos faster than humans can put them out, and search results will be dominated by them to the point where human channels will only be reachable at all by word of mouth. That's a danger present in a lot of industries right now. The WGA is correct to nip it in the bud, and everyone else should do the same. It's not that AI doesn't have a purpose and place. But it shouldn't be even allowed comparison with what it's trying to replace.

I've found a channel cloning a youtubers voice to narrate reddit stuff, checked their shorts, dozens and dozens of ones just like it, no views, it's f**king automated
Sounds like the causing factors of the video game crash of the early 80s. Horrible content shoveled out en masse, which eventually damaged the perception of video games so badly that the market died for years. Maybe a similar thing will happen with current media and AI content.

It's not that AI content is as "good" as content made by people. It's that odds are most viewers won't care and will just consume farmed AI content happily, driving out real creators.

This is exactly what I'm scared of with AI taking jobs. It's irrelevant how low quality or boring AI content is, I'm afraid people have such poor taste they won't notice the difference.

That's the current reality but the future reality, the one you'll be dragged kicking and screaming into, is that in a few years time you won't be able to differentiate between the two either. AI isn't going to statically remain as it is; it's getting better exponentially and will continue to do so. It won't be boring, low-quality uncanny valley content for very much longer. Dystopian? Absolutely. True? That too.
Yep. This has already been happening. Just look at the size of channels like 5 Minute Crafts. The content varies from straight-up garbage to "this might very well kill you". Then compare the subscriber number to Ann Reardon's How to Cook That channel. She actually tries the hacks from the content farms, and has a fraction of the subscribers (although her channel is sizeable, so that's hopeful.)
I think a good example from a while ago now was soothouse. Though it was before the whole AI mess we have going on today, they said they shut down partially because they were getting outperformed by reddit TTS channels. As someone who has consumed a lot of their content, and a decent amount of reddit TTS at times, I think it should be immediately obvious which has more value, but you can also see why TTS channels pumping out 2/3 videos a day do as well as they do.
I miss soothouse, they actually added funny jokes and personality to their videos. Meanwhile the tts bullshit hurts my ears and adds nothing. It’s so sad.

Lol Im close friends with most of the soothouse guys we all live next to eachother, I think part of it was also just the hassle of operating a channel with so many people on it
6:53 the snake in the top frame looks like a ball python, which is one of the most harmless snake species in the world. i have one as a pet and the craziest thing she does is knock over the plants in her enclosure at night. truly a dangerous beast.
Okay, but, I do want to point out, one of the funniest and kinda saddest things about that “20 most dangerous animals” thing is that tarantulas aren’t that dangerous? I know they put a spider first and foremost because, well, spiders, but that just sorta highlights how little they actually care…tarantulas are generally docile and low-activity, and while they do have a venomous bite, it’s no worse than a bee sting to us humans (unless you happen to be allergic). Your biggest risk is probably handling your tarantula, then forgetting to wash your hands before rubbing your eyes or something, since the fuzz can cause irritation, but as always, do your research, and don’t just pick up wild animals!
Goddamnit. I've literally minimized this video, clicked on a YT Short and immediately realized I was watching AI generated content. It was a soul-less explanation of an anime related symbolism, but the fact that no-one in the comments caught on the blatant AI voice, script and editing made me next level of sad.

I came back here from a allen tsai short (you know that guy who does "did you know in X") and his opening was very different. Instead of opening with a clip from the movie he usually talks about he opened with a blatantly obvious AI generated clip of him or some other rando jogging. I checked his channel and sadly he is now switched over to the AI generated opening it seems. And the worst part, nobody in the comment section seemed to know how it was obviously created by an AI.

i feel like when it comes to shorts, it's more difficult to notice, especially with how the algo is trying to push random content. i personally havent encoutered such content, or at the very least i don't THINK i have (ok there was one video but everyone complained about it so there's that).

I'd have to disagree with "Virtual influencers can't be cancelled"- I have seen automated novelty channels being taken down because the computer generated something that got it reported to the moderators.
I think it's meant more in a "permanent cancellation" sense. But yeah, "Nothing, Forever" (the Seinfeld-inspired thing) and Neuro sama did get suspended. I guess Tay got fully cancelled though.
BTW it's kinda crazy how something that only big corporations could afford 7 years ago is now seemingly being done by ordinary people
Being cancelled doesn't mean being banned, being cancelled means you did something that made Extremely Online people hate you, and can result from anything from sending inappropriate messages to underage teens on Discord, to cheating on your wife, to (checks notes) tweeting the mildest take on a children's movie that everybody forgot about in 5 minutes.
Virtual influencers don't have Discord accounts, wives to cheat on (or mistresses to cheat with), or opinions on forgettable movies to tweet. If it can't be traced to a person who could do those things, then it can't be canceled.

The whole trick is, the grift isn't setting up the channels, it's selling people the "secret" to setting up the channels. Very few people are making money on actual content farming by the time the "gurus" come in. Folding ideas did a good video on it about audible audiobooks.
Ai isn’t going away anytime soon (it may never will) but amidst the chaos let’s hope we don’t lose ourselves in the insincerity of it all.
Art is about connecting. Any type of entertainment isn’t there to fill the void, it’s about sharing your passion and it’s something to uplift and inspire yourself and others.
I love seeing the passion other people have for their art form and I’d hate to see that go away
Unfortunately art education isn't robust everywhere so there's a lot of people that don't appreciate the process and connection to the creators.

Content farms were already a blight on RUclips, and now AI is making the problem a billion times worse. I have an older version of Chromecast plugged into my TV, so I can't log into my account to see my own feed of recommended videos. What I do see there has made me feel actual rage from time to time... videos with millions of views that are clearly content farm BS. You can often tell by the video title and channel name alone. And the infuriating part is knowing that while they do bot views and engagement, there are still a bunch of dumb clueless people watching.
Tons of "content automation" companies out there
I just avoid videos and shorts that look like they’re made by ai or belong to a garbage content farm channel. RUclips really needs to fix their algorithm…
Solution: platforms that limit user content for quality and scarcity that use no automation.

An actual genuine issue with generated stuff is flooding sites and places that drown out actual artists and creatives. On DeviantArt, after they welcomed the stuff, its become so much harder to find other actual artists. I've blocked everything related to it, but that doesn't work because these people don't want to admit they used it! Or are too lazy to properly tag it.
I dont think its gonna replace genuine artists, theres so much that a machine cannot replace... (Plus its trained on billions of stolen peices of art and writing). There's more to the creative process then just a final image.But for the lazy and greedy? Its a perfect tool for churning out meaningless stuff.
Recently I went to Etsy because I wanted to commission an artist to draw my dnd character.
Etsy is FLOODED with AI "artists" to the point where it was nearly impossible to find a real artist. And these AI users often try to skirt around it by burying the disclaimer deep in the description, or they say something like "we use AI technology along with Photoshop and digital editing" as if that makes it better. It's infuriating.
DeviantArt welcomed that crap with open arms to the dismay of artists

I made the mistake of looking into doing freelancing illustration for extra money since I'm moving and it's just a complete cesspool with all the "artists" selling AI generated illustrations as their own and being next to impossible to find anyone who isn't doing it

What I hate most about ai generated content is that I see people say that it's liberating art. It's giving everyone freedom to create. But they don't create, and the art they make might only look somewhat good because the machine was fed art of actual people, who made it themselves. Nothing is stopping them from learning to draw, to write, to create. Because it's not a talent you're born with, it's a skill that takes time. And by taking hard work of amazing artists, you're not liberating art, you're actively harming the ones who make it. It's terrifying to see, in the credits of a short animated film, as the background artist be "ai + human". Not even a name. There a thousands of artists who could be working instead of that ai. Ai makes lifeless recreations of what it was fed. No thought behind it, no hard work, no nuance or humanity. And I don't want to believe that that's all art is to people.
Despite being pro a.i the concept of a.i. Art confuses me like we could make a irl Pokédex real life Jarvis but we have this instead

How is that different to what you are doing though? You see what other people make, mimic it. Learn from it and combine it with your previous knowledge. You might come up with something that you didn't see before but I can guarantee you that it has been done before. Humanity as its entirety in all its history is incredibly vast.
I think most people don't think at the right scope when it comes to AI. They aren't just fed pictures of one artist or remember a certain set of images that they can mimic. They are being fed massive amounts of data. So much that thousands of people couldn't look at all of it before their life is finished and through deeplearning adjust a massive practically non deconstructible neural network that can create an output that nobody can understand anymore where it came from. It does not function like a copycat program like most people believe.
If you see an AI image and think: "I have seen something just like this before it must have copied it from someone else." That is complete nonsense. That is not how deep learning AI operates. The only reason it seems like that is because an unholy amount of art has been created in the history of humans and the likelyhood of you having seen something very similar before is incredibly high. You can feel the exact same way about any human created artwork given the right bias. This is simply due to the fact that pretty much everything that humans find appealing has already been discovered by the billions and billions of human lifetimes that have passed so far. AI will have the ability to have access to a lot of it, so there is no reason why AI wouldn't be able to create something indiscernable from human art in the future. I simply believe we have to regulate it. Noone stopped watching sports just because there are robots out there that can run faster or be stronger than humans. The fact that something is being done by humans has value to humans.

What freaks me out the most is that they don't understand that such picture shitters will _never_ be able to make blueprints. Blueprint needs math, physics, ergonomics, etc, _understanding,_ but look, it spews out 10 000 megapixels and soon will 100 000, what else do we need?

someone else compared these content farms to shovelware and I think that's 100% accurate. as kids, how much times did our parents bring home awful shovelware games, and how many times did we happily play them despite them being awful? not many people knew at the time, but as years went on the term gained traction and people learned to stay away, and learned the difference. I think we're going through those growing pains with AI farms, because it's so new, that if they use a good text to speech or have an actual person voice it, many people won't even catch it if they're not actively paying attention to the video. RUclips being popular is, in the grand scheme of things, still new. I really don't think as many people will consume that AI content a few years from now, just like how we as a society grew out of the horrible phase of piles and piles of Nintendo Wii and CD rom shovelware. I wonder how much of the fear is of how new it is and just how people have to learn. Those thumbnails and titles look enticing NOW, but what about in the future?
I’ve definitely seen so much rage against and fear towards AI on RUclips on Twitter, at least regarding art and how it’s being used to try and replace human artists or writers.
Some people have been trying to use AI to replace artists, but such a modicum is pretty detrimental and dangerous since it would take away from the human touch and spirit that people can put into their artwork with their own styles or ideas. Plus, there’s the issue of AI stealing components from existing art. It’s gotten to a point where even art websites and conventions are taking a hardline stance to ban AI artwork (which I wholeheartedly support).
And in regards to writing for stuff like movies or shows, having AI replace humans for writing would remove a lot of the unique human elements for scripts, etc and just turn things into churned out stories based on algorithms rather than stories people crafted themselves. I’ve also seen one or two toxic anti-SJWs claiming that AI is “good” as a means to replace “woke Hollywood writing,” but that just feels more tone-deaf and ignorant to the dangers of AI and more like pushing some bad narratives regarding “culture wars.”
(I’ll also add voice acting as another major concern too. Lots of VAs, from more freelance like Gianni or in the industry for games or shows, are concerned about AI basically “stealing” their voice likenesses.)
Exactly, it's basically an advanced search engine that steals art. The problem is that because it steals from so many different sources, it's hard to find who exactly it stole from which will lead to people claiming that "it's no different from inspiration"
@@randomusername1735 that is not how deep learning works. You could call taking taking terabytes of training data without artists' consent stealing, but the AI itself doesn't steal anything. It's a huge neural network that was trained to recognize patterns in the training data and then use them to output something with the same patterns

My concern about AI isnt about replacing writers/artists/programmers etc. Its about how it can be used to supercharge creating fake news, amplifying messages, fortify echochambers...
The apparent hard limit AI is running into is that it needs good original data to be trained on. The addage "garbage in garbage out" holds very true. AI models trained on the output of other AI models turns into conplete unintelligible gibberish in just 3 generations. We can already see this with clever trolling like the fake posts on reddit leading to an article referencesing a made up thing and making a fool of the publisher.
I'm not saying that AI isn't a potential threat to original works and creative expression. But AI maximalists are exaggerating it's potential in the foreseeable future.
„Dribble daily“ would be a rather fitting name for a channel putting out three videos of such „ultra high quality“ per day
I watched an Eliot Sang vid earlier exploring the concept of attention as a commodity which we produce.
Viewing consumption of media as labour throws a different shade on AI-generated content - we're working for the AI so that they can get paid by a corporation, who's earning funds by re-selling our attention to other corporations, who then try to convince us to spend money earned through other labour, on products we didn't know we wanted.
I just watched that video yesterday. Very insightful.
AI is also making so much content impossible for me to watch. The robovoices are horrible, they mispronounce so much and put the emphases on the sentence so that they distract you from what theyre saying. As someone who went through all of the same emotions whilst watching "Why do short films look like that" a few weeks ago, having finally clicked on it after 3 weeks of it appearing in my recommended videos, this is genuinely the most relatable video I've seen in a while.
Automation was supposed to decrease the time we have to spend working so we can spend more time making and enjoying art but corporations are hellbent on making sure the inverse happens
Also honestly I pity the grasp of the world of people who will rally for AI to replace everything. How sad their hearts must be...

The subtlety in the way a human acts and makes content compared to a perfect cut, is something that even tho most people can't pinpoint at first, they can all tell that something is wrong when that feeling of passion isn't there, I do feel like a piece of content made by an AI is no different to a human making a piece of content that they just don't care for, the big difference at least for now between the two imo is that the AI makes content that it was told, while the human counterpart makes the content because it is something they themselves felt passionate to do and you can definitely feel that in the video

That's how I feel tbh. When a person makes content they don't care for, it's not like they're putting any sense of creativity into it, they turn their brains on autopilot and practically become AI themselves. Pinely's original reaction to kwebblecop felt like a sentiment I had when the original surge of fear came around towards artists, that if you felt like you can be replaced your content probably isn't quality or filled with passion in the first place. I know the nuance behind it now, obviously, but at the same time I wonder if this would lead people to realize how passionless their work is and maybe strive to do what they personally want.
My kids were watching one of the nature ones one day and I had to keep telling them, "that part isn't true, neither is that, y'all it's better to just read a book about it or watch the BBC version" 😳
To believe AI in its current form can replace content creators, is to think it is possible to write a story without comprehending the concept of story. AI can write paragraphs of things happening but is fundamentally incapable of telling a story.
I suggest you don't underestimate AI like that. Yes, AI can't "understand" the fundamentals but I can assure you that replicating such understanding is possible and that many people won't be able to differentiate the illusion AI can produce and the actual quality content creators. You shouldn't forget that kids and impressionable people are on the internet. Not to mention half of these people have their brains melted by short videos. They literally can't focus on anything if it's longer than a minute. Just the numbers that these kinds of people will generate can drive the gears of youtube algorithm to promote AI content. Sad but that's the truth. Unless RUclips does something about it before it happens

AI doesn't have to write a story, it just has to sound vaguely entertaining. A lot of people just don't care, so as long as you pump out a _lot_ (which is incredibly easy with AI) you're pretty much guaranteed success.
For what it’s worth, one reason short films “look like that” is aspect ratio and fps. The cinematic ratio with black bars has been studied to be perceived as more professional than aspect ratios that better fit modern tvs computers and phone screens. Additionally, pretty much all cinematic films are filmed in 24fps for pretty much the exact same reason. Some movies, for example the Hobbit movies, tried filming in 48 fps and again were perceived as cheap, even though their budget was very high. Most affordable cameras film in higher fps and a more convenient aspect ratio, and many short films we see are made for RUclips, so have these features that have been studied to be seen as distinct and cheaper than feature films. Its difficult to pinpoint so it’s more of a vibe than an obvious choice, which is why the visual style is distinct
Imo all platforms should incorporate a mandatory disclaimer whether something is human made or ai generated. It's becoming ever so slightly harder to distinguish between the two.

In all seriousness as an artist who is finally at a stable place to start getting my work out there, I really couldn't hate AI more. And we have a word for the kinds of people that rely on it to the point of sacrificing their creativity and passion: "sellouts."
I find it really tempting to throw morals and creativity out the window when I spend hours editing a video that get 5 views and then got 250k for one I I basically just screenshoted a cutscene with no VO

I am so glad someone has made a video on this. I work hard on every aspect of my videos, research, writing, editing, all of it. And I have been copied my a different ai/ fiver channel so many times! A new channel pops up everyday completely copying my video, sometimes reuploading a complete copy .. it’s an absolute pain and so demoralising! I think I’m gonna have into face reveal and work that way as a way to seperate myself from them.. Great video man.

Being an artist, I used to love watching two minute papers but then AI quickly took off and I learned that it is trained with bilions of pictures, with no credit given and no copyright/licenses respected. Then my favorite art plattform, Artstation got flooded with flooded with this slob and when everyone called them out on it, Tim Sweeney (owner of epic games and Artstation) just talked down to artists and tried to looks like one of those AI clowns are one of us.
Now we have images with thousands of of likes on the frontpages and those people have never drawn in their lives, dont respect artists, try to pretend to be artists and live of off artists content.

I recently clicked on a recap of a movie and it didn't take long to see it was just an AI script being read by an AI voice because the script was soulless and the pronunciation of common words was robotic. But the people in the comment section LOVED it. And on top of that, I started being recommended other channels with similar names and they were also AI scripts being read by an AI voice (and likely made by the same people). It was kinda sad to see because I was looking for someone to give an interpretation of the movie but I just got the bare bones plot with an odd pronunciation of words.

I'm not going to lie, the idea of $65,000 a month is extremely appealing to me for obvious reasons. At the same time, I'm not sure how I'd live with myself knowing the only contribution I'll ever make is the video equivalent of shovelware. I'd be ashamed of myself knowing that I had wasted countless hours of strangers time with a video that equates to basically a Wikipedia article or loud pointless distractions for small children that gives them literally nothing of value.

ai tech ppl love to assume that AI means effort free. it doesn't. we're just in a period where AI content isn't oversaturated yet (but we're already hitting that point). once it becomes too mainstream, u'll quickly see how the Cool Hip Thing will turn to the most excruciating effort-filled ways.
look what happened when we were able to make clothes with machines. ppl had to discover how to make their clothes stand out, and there's a constant vibe of something being Better or Higher Quality if it's handmade.
i don't know why ppl think AI will just. dominate and smother out the options. it won't. the human brain wants variance, and the main driving force of the internet (teens and young adults) will probably always be one of rebelliousness and of wanting to explore new things. the real wonder is if we're going to start getting really "random" bizarre incomprehensible content when that AI saturation hits, as ppl try to be as anti-AI as possible to the point of being.. well, something entirely new.
Art is pretty cool because you don't just discover things about yourself in the process you also are conversation with your audience and move and grow with them. I think thats whats so awesome about you asking your brother to edit. His choices were artistic and that gave you a new perspective you wouldn't have otherwise. I was very touched by that. Its pretty apocalyptic being an artist trying to make your living off your art. But I know what I make matters for myself. And hopefully one day it will matter to other people as well.

It's really easy to write AI off as incapable of making something of high quality. I'm an artist, and for the first few months that AI was part of the conversation in the art world, it wasn't that good. Artists could look at AI art and say "that's cool, but it can't draw hands correctly". Then AI learned how to draw hands correctly. Artists looked for other insufficiencies in AI art. Every time artists found something to criticize AI art for, it was revised, and eventually it overcame every obstacle to creating "good art". Now I can confidently say that AI is able to make art that is better from a technical standpoint than anything I've ever made, and it is only going to get better from here.
Basically, what I'm saying is that even though AI content farms aren't currently able to make videos as interesting or well produced as yours, you can't really bank on that being the case in the future. AI art is now capable of creating paintings that look as if they were made by a passionate artist, and someday AI-generated videos may follow suit. Rather than putting all our stock in the quality of our work, which can be replicated, it should be placed in the essential difference between AI and human art. And that is the fact that it was created to reflect the person who created it. AI can create art that is identical to ours, but it can't create to express itself.

I had to reference in my critical reflection on my filmmaking project at university recently. In the library I found a journal article about how a company was training AI to select the best takes, basically do shot reverse shot and colour grade. Quite scary

Thank you for mentioning the editor in the "automation" process. I'm sure if people can get their way the editor will be thrown out the window as well, but as a video editor I still feel safe to a degree from robots taking my job.
Under your last video I mentioned making my own unhinged video essay so I'll mention it in here again. On top of the conception of a topic so niche no robot can hallucinate the depth of, the editing and the underlying human understanding behind the veil of context is the most important part of the visuals - the visual flow that brings one frame to the next, the memes that makes the narration relatable, and the composition that gives a deeper meaning to the words being spoken, they are all important not only in online videos, but film in general.
There is an emotional layer in the editing process that makes a video truly unique, even when everything else lacks it. Not that I'm advocating for this type of automation; some videos I've edited makes me wanna puke from how boring they are, but when the editor is emotionally invested in the subject, it will come across the screen and impact the viewer as well.
Even with channels that are focused on reading content, i don't think ai will replace them. If i click into a video and hear ai i click off pretty immediately, the creators i do watch always add their own personal input and opinions and personal experiences that make them way more worth my time. This ai craze really made me appreciate the human aspect of content creation a lot more
Very good video but I can’t blame these people who make these videos. There is formula on RUclips that can be mastered and it’s mainly driven by mainstream trends. Add on a safe/socially acceptable theme to the video the end result becomes extremely soulless but extremely lucrative. I love that you brought attention to this topic though as I’ve been becoming older I thought the content I was digesting primarily was becoming a bit more brain dead. You kind of have to actually look for content creators now because if you let the algorithm completely drive your interest on the app there’s really nothing to it anymore.

All the breathless commentary about how AGI is about to be here, that fancy autocomplete is right on the brink of reaching the creative power of human beings, speaking as an AI researcher, comes off as kind of absurd to me. But then, notions of generality and intelligence aren't super well defined in the literature anyway, so it can really mean whatever you want it to mean.
The topic of AI became mainstream very quickly and is being actively hyped, most people don't know how AI works or its history. For example, GPT-4 came out 3 years after GPT-3, but only 4 months after ChatGPT. The first fact isn't well known, the second is, so the development speed seems much higher than it is

you touched on it in the video but it’s crazy to me that people say that ai creates things independently, as if it isn’t just stealing from different human creators and mashing it all together to create what you asked for. it’s definitely an interesting technology, but it only knows what we put into it. it “learns” from sources on the internet. i think ai use in any professional setting would become a nightmare of copyright laws and companies getting sued.

People have probably heard this 100 times from old people like me but I think the idea of AI has already happened over & over again. I think of music & how a trend will catch & it will be copied until people can't stand it but they still listen. Then an artist comes out that is so new & interesting that it throws the "content machine" off. If you were alive in the early 90s you got to witness that when Nirvana was released on to the world. The "content machine" got completely remixed by the popularity of that band. It will happen again as long as people are free to create things.
You know life is cruel and unfair when you remember Pinely doesn't have 1 million+ subscribers.

@16:19 That's absolutely BS. AI models can't be guaranteed scandal-free. Of course, they don't have personal life and then can't be accused of domestic violence, psychological harassment, etc. However, personal life isn't the sole source of scandal. The AI model could generate offensive content that causes scandal. There are well-known cases of machine-learning models that turned racist or sexist.
The scandal may also concern the client or the provider.
Those exaggerations about AI are at least as dangerous as AI itself.
