I am re-doing the reading nook and making it even better this time around! A lot of you suggested I add a bookshelf, so that's exactly what we're doing today and also adding in a custom bench with a DIY no-sew bench cushion. And now, I am just 100% happier with the new reading nook! What do you guys think?

Okay, not gonna lie, the first makeover of this space didn’t feel quite right. This is much better! I totally love it!
I definitely love the new nook. Personally speaking, the leather armchairs would definitely complement the place and I'd put them there as well for extra seatings, plus the tall lamp as well.
I agree 100%
I was thinking this too
And a rug! Would make it super cozy as I reckon with the other chairs and the lamp 😍
Haha, was thinking the same!
Thinking the same thing; just in front of the nook, facing the wall, etc...
I could see the two chairs and table across from the bench, creating a little conversation area when you are entertaining. Just a thought. It turned out very well. Tina. Love what you are doing to the basement so far.
That's a great idea.
I'm thinking if she put the chairs across from the bench, she could sit in a chair and put her feet up on the bench while reading. 😁
I like this idea!!!!!
This version look much more cozy and functional. I would like to make only one suggestion.
A small table/ plantstand (just large enough for a cup and snack) to give you a place to place a cup of tea while you are reading and snuggling in.
To be honest I hated that marble table but loved the leather armchairs. I like it better now but would like to see the chairs back 😀. In any case enjoy reading 😀
i personally liked the first makeover better because i feel like it would be awkward to sit on the bench and read?? but the first one was missing the bookshelf!! either way, they look nice. happy reading!
I love the DIY chairs but honestly I think they would be a good seating area near the bar. Version 2 is by far the vibe for a reading nook.
The new reading nook is absolutely beautiful! The bench looks comfortable and has plenty of room to curl up and read a good book. Thank you for sharing all your great projects with us, looking forward to your next video.
You did a great job! This last version is my favorite. I would bring back at least one of the chairs from before and maybe both.
The best Mother’s Day gift set 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I loved the first one but this one is more you and I like it better. With every challenge you encounter your solution always seems to turn out better than if it had gone according to the original plan! 🌻
Love the improvements! It definitely feels more intentional and thoughtful
What will you do with the painted chairs? I kept waiting for them to come back into this space in a conversation area across from the bench. Either way, your nook is great!
I'm lowkey so glad for this update! I love being all cozied up when I read and the previous nook looked so rigid and formal. The bench feels like such a better option for cozy times 😊
Loving version 2. It feels complete. First version was beautiful but this is more my style. Great job Tina
I really liked the chairs you DIYed but this does feel a lot cosier and the bookcase is awesome, a definite win 🤩 I bet you’re more comfy having a little read on that bench than you were sat on those chairs ☺️ Thanks for keeping it real and showing that you can change your mind and create something more suitable for the space and for yourself ✨💜
Now that's pretty looking. The chairs and the table would also complement I think. Cozy book it looks ❤️ loved it tina 🎉
I think if you put the two painted chairs back in, facing towards your bench and bookshelf, it could be totally a cosy little spot that both you and Brian could enjoy at the same time. The DIY shelf and bench turned out great, just think having the chairs facing this, would be more seating and cozy.
I love how this can be adapted to fit any space. Mushroom, entry way, laundry room, bedroom, office
I love the way this turned out. It feels quaint and cozy for reading.
I love the way this reading nook came out. I loved the first layout but this one is cozier. Love it!!!!!!!! You always outdo yourself Tina!
Can always guarantee to see Brian in his trusty blue shirt....love how it came out...great job you two
Love this new version Tina. The space is much more functional. Great job!
Wow Tina ! I’m so impressed with your decor looks absolutely beautiful & so elegant ! Wow it looks like one of those beautiful staged showrooms at ikea !
You inspire me so much because you make these diy's look easy and complete them in short timeframe. Looks absolutely stunning!!
I love this nook a lot better however I would put your table and an arm chair with a light on the wall next to the bookshelf , which I love btw to really complete the look. Great job Tina
Love version two it’s so cozy and a great place to sit and read!!! Great job 👏
I love this so much more than the first version. It's so good!
This fits the vibe so much better!!! Love this refresh ❤
I think this could be my favourite makeover you've done, could be because I'm a book nerd and would love a reading nook but I also just think it shows a lot of growth in your style, design and confidence in your skills! SO GOOD!
Awww, thank you, Nikki! 💛
Love version 2, you have a great eye for design. You are inspiring.
Love this, so inspired to do my own reading nook project! Can't wait to see more!
Love this. Can’t wait to see what rug you put in here!
I think they’re both beautiful but the last one is definitely high end
This looks great Tina!!! Side note - Just finished The Midnight Library and it’s an amazing book! Glad to see it on your shelf ☺️
So cute and definitely an upgrade! Beautiful work as always. I feel like you could totally bring those faux leather chairs and stone table back in, then add a rug to create a little reading corner & conversation area. The styles totally go together!
Definitely the 2nd look! You did a beautiful job with everything. I love the picture with the light over it.
Hi Tina. I’m new to your channel but absolutely love the basement project. You are such an inspiration for someone who has a design background but is new to DIY woodworking. I enjoy your videos so much. Keep up the good work!
What a cute and cozy space! I've been on a reading spree lately, here are some I enjoyed: Convenience Store Woman, The House in the Cerulean Sea, It Happened One Summer (it's a steamyyyy one), The Song of Achilles, Invisible Girl, The Silent Patient, Anxious People, The Vanishing Half.
Versión 2! For sure such a cozy feel of it! Awesome Job 🙂
Love the changes😍and looking forward to your next project😊
LOVE! This is such an improvement on the first makeover, honestly looked like a waiting room and now looks so cozy! Only yhing I would change is the bookshelf, I think it would look so much more cozy with a warm wood tone rather than navy. But still looks really cool!
Totally agree. Even though the global look is much better than the first version, the shelf and the bench look like 2 separate unmaching pieces. It would probably make the space feel bigger and more cohesive if they were in similar colors.
You are so very talented! All of your rooms are beautiful. I love this new look and am looking forward to what you do with those chairs and table next!!
I can’t wait to see where you use the chairs because I loved that makeover!
Love love love! So amazing!!! I love them both, but the 2nd looks more relaxing 🥰
The new nook is so cute I love version two. Blue is my favorite color and your nook wall color is what i am drawn too. And that bench what can I say it’s lovely and so well done
It looks nice! You are so talented and creative.
I loved the chairs and table and kept waiting for them to be added along with the bench and shelf in that nook!
I think this is my favorite make over!! Love it!!
Version 2 is beautiful!!! I love it!
Love it! That wall color is chef’s kiss
Absolutely love this design a lot better than the first. The first was lovely but I adore this one.
The reading nook 2.0 is definitely better. Was lacking in the first version, but you nailed it this time.
You always come through with great ideas 💡. Very nice Tina.
I definitely like this redo it looks more comfy💕
This looks really nice, good job!
Have you read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" Millennium Series? I know it's about 17 years old, but this series is truly the best I have ever read. (You may need to skip about the first 70 pages or so, if I remember correctly, before the story really gets rolling)
I absolutely loved that series. 📚
This turned out gorgeous,I love it !👍😊❤️
This nook is amazing!!! Just when I think you couldn't improve a perfect nook (1st one) you up and did it! (2nd one). Great job!
Luv It!! Another awesome job, like always. 👍🏼😄
love the colour palette!
This looks much much better than the previous makeover ❤️❤️❤️
This definitely feels more like a book nook with the shelves! Very cozy. Also, my book club just read Portrait of a Thief by Grace Li and we enjoyed it! We're moving on to The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and I'm looking forward to that one, too.
Yes, you are pros are building Ikea furniture 😁The built-in bookshelf looks really good. Yaaaay, I'm so glad you picked up Pachinko 💃🏽😊I must say I prefer this makeover to the first one because it looks and works better as a reading nook. Well done, Tina!
Must say Tina I.love this blue you've chosen for your colour scheme 💙 and your reading 📚 nook is more cosier now,I do love the orange chairs still and think you could still put one back in with the lamp from before over it over and a cost rug on the floor
Xxx
way better than before
This came really beautiful and really you!!
Version 2 🤩
It looks great, I love it! You could probably incorporate one of your chairs and marble table by extending the reading nook down the wall to the left of the bookcase. I love the redo! 📚
The improvements are much better and you could still use chairs to make cozy conversation space as well.
It turned out great, I love the 2nd look. the looks more cozy. Good job, flexing those DIY skills on the book case. LOL
#2 so much cozier and comfortable for reading.
I really loved the chairs from the first option but I this the new version is really nice! I’m sure you can use the chairs in the space somewhere else.
Hi Tina, as always you did an outstanding job. Undoubtedly, the 2.0 version has a very cohesive design. Love it.❤❤❤ May God bless you with more creativity.🙏
Thank you for all the great ideas!! I’m moving into a new place soon and can’t wait to put them into action 😃
Omgsh, congrats on your new place!! Glad these videos can give you some inspo 😇💛
@@tinalemac Thank you! I’ve always decorated, fitted tiles etc but never tried power tools, I’m plucking up the courage ❤️
My favorite of all books is Memoirs of a Geisha. GREAT book!!
Love this remake, very cozy
I like this so much more than the first attempt! As for reading recommendations, anything by Shakespeare and all of the classic literature you can find!
Love the redo! The plants totally changed that window
Great job, always inspiring.
Love it 🥰 version 2 is perfect ❤️
I really love what you did in the reading nook I truly love it the only thing that I would of done also was to paint the front of the draws that beautiful blue but that's me put it truly is a lovely area thankyou always for your wonderful videos I really injoy them🥰
Super cute!
Version 2 looks Beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Looks so cute Tina! Would def read here ☺️
Yes!!! Now its perfect!
Like the first one but oh my God love ❤ love ❤ this new make over.
Catherine Sadman - Something in the water. Such an excellent story and keep you in the edge! 🤗😍
Wow that's incredible! I already loved it before, but you exceed yourself 😍
Version #2 for sure!
Version 2 is giving me life!😊
Could you also put the two chairs across from the bench? That way, when you need more seating for the bar area, you can just move them in.
Before I go to sleep is a really good book!
I really liked what you did with the leather chairs but they didn't look very comfy. This bench looks so comfy, especially for autumn! Have fun reading!
As usual, great job!
Muuuuuch more cozier! The other chairs opposit this space with a rug and the side table and the lamp would make it cozy cozy
100% better and more cozy ❤😍
I like this version better, it's custom, more your style. You can always use the chairs somewhere else in the basement since the space is so huge, plenty of room for a sitting area elsewhere. Nicely done!
You are so talented. I’m nervous with the tools but you are helping me with those nerves 😄
And love yours and Brian’s relationship and his darn blue shirt hahaha
Totally awesome!!!!👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I think you could probably have cut the top of the bench a little and the front and bottom of the drawer to fit in. Then put everything together. 😊 Maybe it would be less work and less money? Idk just a suggestion. Love everything as always!
