For those wondering, in SEAL training the 4-mile is a timed evolution in boots and pants on sand. Minimum (emphasis on MINIMUM) standards: First phase - 32:00 Second phase - 30:00 Third phase - 28:00
@@terrorbilly4530 30 minutes seems like a more realistic target. 4 miles in 28 minutes in boots on sand sounded like a damn near elite athlete pace, especially if that is the minimum.
I could pull off a 32:00 and a 30:00 four mile run, even up until my forties. (And, I preferred to run on sand, as I live by the beach) I could do a two mile run in 14:00, but I don't think I could have ever pulled off a 28:00 four mile run. Especially in boots.
Started running back in April, ran 4 miles in about 34:30 this evening. Got a 4 mile race on Sunday and will update if I remember! I'm really amazed by that 26-and-change time, I think if I got under 30 I'd already be super happy about things...
I did it in 41min 52 sec. It had a hill in the middle. That was a good one. I think I can get it done faster on a track. No excuse. Felt good to accomplish, I'll sleep good tonight. LoL. Thanks for the motivation!
Man I’m wore out and I ain’t done nothin, but “sittin on my toilet eatin my beer” watchin y’all run 4 miles. Blew my knees and back out on deployment so my runnin days have been over. Y’all are built for endurance. God bless~
Love the mindset of the standard being run in all conditions. Tired, after you eat, etc. Because when you're prepared, that only means you'll do even better. I'm running for a PT test to lateral to another police agency that has stringent running standards. I've never been the best runner and this channel is motivating me to push myself so I know the PT portion out without worries. Thanks, and stay safe.
I did a 4X400 interval run yesterday, my 4 miles in this interval run was 29:25 thought about this video the whole time and wanted to make sure I got it in Uber 30 min!
My college cross country coach used to make the team run a 4-mile time trial on the track the first weekend of the semester to see what kind of shape everyone was in. I knew I was in over my head when the first guy ran 18:46, and the next four finished in 19:20.
Hey guys, we just started running again and our goal was 2 Miles in under 15 minutes that was our standard. Now our new standard 4 miles in 30 minutes. we’re gonna have to kick it up a notch we can do. We are definitely cut from the same mold. We are definitely training the same as y’all. Watching y’all makes us dig a little deeper.
You're a huge inspiration, man. Just found this channel a few days ago and it has motivated the hell out of me in more ways than just running. But since this video was about running, I decided to see what my 4 mile time is and I got it done in 29 min 20 sec.
Chad, I love the channel and the content. You can always spot ex military: Chad and Chili, laughing and grabassing, having a good time until Chad flips the switch and tone completely changes: "Three, two, ome, go." It was like a lightswitch, the mission began. Keep up the good work!
Keep it up brother. You'd be surprised how many folks throw in the towel and their standard becomes the lazy-boy recliner. My aunt was diagnosed with MS at 38. She passed away a several years ago just shy of 80. She did exactly what you're doing, something! anything but sitting around. She walked a lot. it's all about pushing yourself. My wife almost died in 2021 when we all got covid, none of us had any symptoms but when she developed pneumonia, it was bad. For weeks after she got home her standard was standing up and walking about 20 steps, then she was exhausted. As time moved on she progressed to walking around our wrap around porch, 1 time, then 3 times, then we moved to the yard. One lap around the house, slowly and hanging onto my arm. It took six months before she could walk any significant distance by herself. She is still not 100% but we manage to walk 3 miles a day now and she is still improving.
Great video. I'm 58 and my standard this year is the IDF infantry fitness test. I don't run over 2 miles anymore, but this gives me a time goal. Bless y'all and keep up the good work!
For what it’s worth, don’t just go out and run as hard as you can for the same distance every time you run. Some runs should be long (60-90 mins) and slow (Zone 2 heart rate) as that’s the optimum pace to develop the aerobic physiological changes (aerobic enzymes, increased mitochondria & capillaries, and heart stroke volume), some should be moderately hard (lactate threshold), and some should have fast repeats or intervals (cycling through 5K/3K/1 mile/800m paces). There’s a reason all of the top runners & running coaches build their programs around these elements. The key is to have the discipline to run the right pace for the desired physiological effect; harder/faster generally isn’t better except in races & time trials. Keep grinding!
I've just started running back in mid July. If someone would have asked before that if I run, I would have laughed. My 4 mile time is around 48 minutes. I love the content of your channel.
I have a regular 4 mile loop from my house I do a few times a week. They're usually what you'd call an easy run which is around 40 min for me. Last week, I turned one of those runs into more of a progression run and did it in 35:52. I'd imagine I maybe could do it in 30 but that would be a big push for me.
I run 3 miles @ 17:45, which by all accounts kills me. I've ran several marathons and even the Isthmus of Panama once. I prefer long distance as it feels more natural. I have to work harder to keep my speed up at shorter distances. Running is a good mental release for me. Helps me realize how the mind can tell the body how much pain to take even when the body refuses to listen. Keep on running.
39.32 for my 4-mile run. I have a 4-mile loop that starts and ends at my house and it has about 3 hills (and 4 areas of incline. currently working on beating my PR, which is 36.04. Thanks for the content! Very relatable!
Back in my thirties, we had a track throughs the woods, that was exactly one mile long, which was a fun way to mile times. I would run five miles three days a week, and usually my times were around 40:00 for five miles (I was shooting for 8 minute miles because where I worked tested us on a two mile run where the minimum was 16:50 and I wanted to be sure I could do it). On alternate days, I would run three miles on that track and usually I would do it in about 23:00. Later, I moved to the beach and I could still do those times, even at 50 y.o.a. with a caveat: I had to be running on the hard sand by the surf. Trying to run in the dry sand farther from the water was hard as hell. When I was 30, I ran a ten mile run in 89:00 which was my best medium distance ever. But, I never really trained for speed. I just wanted the conditioning. But, you pay the price in the end. I'm 65 now, and I had to either stop running or get a new hip (and I wouldn't have ben able to run after than anyway).

We did the goggins 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours last month. It's a lot harder than it sounds. At least for a non runner. Plus we still kept up with our regular training. Our first 4 miles took around 45 minutes. By the last 4 miles it was taking an hour and 15 minutes. My feet were pretty tore up by the last day, which didn't help. I was running in Chuck Taylor's.

Good work, thanks for reminding me that i'm weak AF
I run 30 minutes every day nose breathing only. Just to keep the ticker ticking. I tried to see the distance on maps but it's hard to tell. I think it's somewhere 3.5 to 4 miles. Feels good.
About 55 years ago, on my last day of basic training, I made myself a promise to NEVER AGAIN run anywhere unless it was absolutely necessary, like to escape being trampled by a bull and I'm proud to say, unto mine own self I 🐝 true.
Now, before you go on a rant, I'm 75, fit , skip rope, and ride mountain bike.
I just don't RUN !
Great time for being sore and worn out!
You're fast 😃
Tech guy rolled his ankle LOL LOL LOL !
Survival. Surviving the run is my standard.
I Had a 1SG at Ft. Drum that would take the Company on 9 mile runs out of the blue. I never fell out of his runs and he never forgot that.
What’s up 10thMTN!
