The average Ruck pack in Vietnam weighed roughly 80lbs. Everyone carried 12 dozen pairs of OD Green shocks and foot powder. Temperatures under the Jungle canopy can get to 105°. The humidity is off the scale. My uniform was always wet from sweating. Everyone carried 2 bandoliers of 5.56 and as many Frags they wanted. 12 to 15 mile day Ambush patrols were exhausting.
Because of you Chadd I'm gonna take the leap of faith and Start a you tube channel to speak life to people. I studied to become a pastor for a while before I let life break me and I got away from teaching the word of God. Watching your videos, I am inspired to just do it and say screw my fear. Thank you bud. I hope this works out haha.
Chili, why are you making my boy do an extra lap? For that, I'm going to have to buy more merchandise and keep you in the dungeon son! Lol Love you guys!
That was entertaining! Haha! Chadd, let's get your pack fit and technique refined and then you'll be crushing Chili. If you guys want to chat more about load-hauling, we're always game.
I have rucked daily with a heavy pack for 2.5 years. I assumed it would keep my core and legs strong, but I honestly think that those aspects of rucking are overrated. It is good for cardio, building mental toughness, and really tightening up the area around the hip socket, but don’t look to rucking to be a one stop shop for physical health. You still do need to train with weights.
Yeah, get healthy to be able to do it, but don’t do it too much because it wears the body down when you’re older when your recovery times are longer. Everyone’s different though.
This was hilarious. Lovely to read the comments as well. I recall my dad telling me about Vietnam and the patrols. The few pictures I have of him there he’s soaked through. I cycled the country back in ‘04 from Hanoi to Hoi Chi Minh. 70-80 miles a day with 58lbs on the bike. I can’t imagine rucking there in that humidity under stress. Love the ruck/run idea. Thanks fellas.
They explain the benefits of rucking over running, then say they've never really rucked for exercise before. Glad I'm getting my advice from the experts.
Lol.. rolling on the floor.. doing the Chadd roll laughing so hard.... 😆 🤣 😂 😄 what a great Saturday morning laugh... oh my !! Great job Chilli, sorry you had to do an extra lap but you need to keep count better. Lol.... 😅
Absolute pure first Class entertainment Gentlemen ,wisdom ,humour ,advice ,wit ,...this had everything ,that kept me glued to the TV ,...Thank you for delivering realism and originality ....God certainly makes his children 100% Unique & Special 🙏🏻✝️
In the light Infantry in 80s and 90s we would Hump heavier rucks for 20 + miles a day...did a 100 miles in 4 days a couple of times..don't know if they do that today?...it always amazed me looking at what Grunts in Vietnam humped...check out the typical ruck of a 11B in Vietnam...
Sounds like you were in the 25th ID. A way of life back then. Five mile ruck sack runs, five mile runs in gas masks, 80-100 mile death marches, 15 mile end of month (pay day) runs. Was there 3.5 years and averaged nine months away from the family a year. I tried the military but it didn't suit me. After 35 years I decided it wasn't for me and I retired, lol.
Ive done a lot of rucking. We call it treeplanting. 8 hours of scrambling up and down clearcuts covered in logging slash with 50 pounds of trees on. Youll be in great shape and feel great fitness wise. But, your knees, lower back and hips will get injured. 70% of treeplanters have permanent injuries after 2 years.
Started rucking last year. The waist belt helps balance the weight between shoulders and hips. Makes a big difference. Once you're about a mile in, you'll get into a groove.
For the Marines humping/rucking is a way of life from Day 1, sometimes 40 lbs sometimes 60 lbs, but that's just the pack, Add your water for 2 days, all your gear, your weapon of profession, God bless you if you were Mortars. I remember getting blisters on my body in places I didn't think would be possible.
@manofsteel262....your comment made me laugh because I know exactly what you mean.... but for a completely different reason..... I got into an argument with my GF..... Drank half a bottle of whiskey and for no particular reason I started running.... And I didn't stop until I ran 20 miles..... Luckily she did come to pick me up in the car and brought me back home 🤣 😂 🤣 😂,... the things we do on the spur of the moment 👍😂
I started rucking from a Wounded Warrior 50 mile challenge. Did 5 miles at a time with 20 to 30 Lbs. 10 miles on a few occasions. I enjoy the burn. Five miles required not much recovery. Ten miles in 3.5 hours caused a day of little reminders here and there.
I love rucking !! I hit East Fork State park and its 32 miles around the lake , i hit it at lest 1 time a month , i try for 2 regardless of weather , awesome thing , i see and run into the same guys on the trail all the time
I trained for and did a ruck marathon a few years back. 35 lb minimum plus snacks and water. I used Belleville boots. Now I hadn't switched over to barefoot style running yet, so I can't speak to how your calves and feet muscles would be starting up again from all ruck training multiple times per week. However, my cardio and mileage times for running hadn't suffered at all from rucking when I switched back. The rucking had maintained that just fine. P.S. Gradually add weight to ruck haha... Look up Tough Ruck training schedule.
Haha... The man of Iron just realized age is unstoppable. I'm 65 and I did 100lbs for one mile once and it about killed me.. but i lived to talk about it..😂 😂
Did a hike with buddies and midway through a guy dropped out due to illness , he limped his way to a roadway pickup but I offered to carry his pack to the destination , 100lbs total gear 12.5 miles , I credit my heavy weight training with my ability to pull this off easily
That “life alert” comment was gold!
maybe life alert will be a future rucking sponsor
"He's Fallen And Can't Get Up!"
Ha Ha Ha!

This one was gold. Pure gold.
"Ill go do my 5th lap, since yall lost count" -Chadd Wright
Chili, why are you making my boy do an extra lap? For that, I'm going to have to buy more merchandise and keep you in the dungeon son! Lol Love you guys!
Way to do 5 laps!😂 Awesome video. I love the competitions.
That was entertaining! Haha! Chadd, let's get your pack fit and technique refined and then you'll be crushing Chili. If you guys want to chat more about load-hauling, we're always game.
You guys are rucking me up, hilarious! I love the light-hearted fun!
This is the kind of content that first got me into your channel, love it. 👍💪👌

Heavy Farmers walk for distance and a good diet.
It beats your knees up a lot, doing it as a civilian daily will only lead to injury later in life. Don't do it to be cool.
@ I’m not sure it doesn’t accelerate the vertebrae in discs slipping too.
It’s better for your knees than jogging and it uses similar amount of calories if you use the right weight.

“ They didn’t teach you a stand up procedure in the military. “??? I tell you boys this one killed me. And Chili you won this. Cmon Chadd !
This truly was a great Saturday morning laugh 😂 I was literally crying laughing. Enough said😂
5 laps in and Chad won again. Way to go ol bull 🐂 😊
Chili kicked ass Chadd was only on three, funniest video i have seen in a long time.

First of all my stomach hurts from laughing. It’s definitely good for your core. Laughing that is. 😂😂😂
Great video, How about a completive deer drag through the woods, for the hunters. Packs included with normal hunting load out.
Leave the rucking to the real warriors. Go Army!
well done with the 5th lap chad...
Gives a whole new meaning to ‘load leveling’.
The Chadd & Chili show is always entertaining, though usually more competitive!
Awesome video.. laughed so much
My knees and shoulders feel this video.
Well, you've convinced me to stick with my 20 pound old man ruck. Thanks in advance.

“Chads getting stupid” great comeback chilli
Rucking is a necessity in the army esp if ur Inf, Ranger, SF, Delta Force
"that was a show wasn't it Corn?" Comical That ruck Chad used was a POS! Props both of you Gents.
Excellent content. Thanks Chad, I got no shot rucking!
" that is rough son , i do not recommend this "
lmao i felt that in my soul .
andi will take the recommendation 😎
Woohoo!!! ❤ More than I could do!
True
This competition was rucking insane.
Welcome to my life, pal. Everyday is a 100lb ruck.

we need to get the ole bull vs chili on the Draft Kings and get weekly competitions!!!
Chad, you’re DELUSIONAL! Chili killed you! He passed you twice vs your once. He smacked you silly! But for a DAV😂😂😂 YOU DID WELL. ❤

My gf said she was home alone for the weekend but lived 2states over. That night, for no particular reason, I started running lol

Life alert 😂😂

Now that was some entertaining stuff 😂
CHILI Kicked your BUTT Holy Smokes!!! VIDEO GOLD!!! "Just grab the pack cornbread LOL" "Nah I lapped Him LOL"
This the content we want
Way too funny! I am in tears watching...
THIS WAS GOLD!!!
I rewound it and watched it 3 times. Chad did 15 laps and chili did 12.
It's sad to see an old seal quitting like that
enjoyed this one guys
I love this channel. I did a spit take on the life alert comment.
“…but you were hateful this mornin, bubba…”. BWAHAHA
Chadd had a disadvantage over Chili besides age, he's packing an additional 20 lbs of Beard.
But Chili has 20 lbs of hair so they are even.
Chili killed it! That's a rough one
Great Video Man!
Best video yet, 😂!
I know Chadd is still a really bad dude and he was a Navy SEAL after all, but I'm also impressed with the unassuming toughness of Chili.
Ultra endurance competitions aren't for the faint of heart.
I lapped you 😂 😂
this is WAY better than the Tyson/Paul fight
I love rucking !! I hit East Fork State park and its 32 miles around the lake , i hit it at lest 1 time a month , i try for 2 regardless of weather , awesome thing , i see and run into the same guys on the trail all the time
In the 80's a mountain infantry winter ruck averaged 110 lbs w/o L.b.e. rifle etc., check the manual it's in there.
Watching from Mackinac Island Michigan
Laughed my ass off when Chad falls trying to get up!

You guys are awesome 🤘🏻😂🤘🏻
Are you guys selling try-out spots for this challenge? lol I have like $4,500 for a seat
Get it, brother! By the way, I just joined the fanny pack gang with you. Just posted my review of the Bando bag. It’s sweet!
I resemble your remarks Chad, you handed Chilly a new one!
cant believe you made him do an extra lap
I Sh*t my pants just watching all that. Great job guys!
Chili for the win!!!!!!
Rucking is where it's at!!
Come on man!! Chilly kicked your tail🤣🤣
I loved this so much❤❤❤
Oh been waiting for this 😂
Fantastic! 😂😂😂
Lmao gOod stuff as always 3of7!!
I counted 6 laps for Chadd. Well done champ!!
That was only 4 laps, Chad... 😂
5th lap, I saw it!
Haha... The man of Iron just realized age is unstoppable. I'm 65 and I did 100lbs for one mile once and it about killed me.. but i lived to talk about it..😂 😂
I DONT RUCK. I LARP WITH FULL GEAR AND A POCKET FULL OF GUMMIES 🐻
Gotta be Chadd's satirical side on no reason to run longer than half hour. 1hr 2-3 times a week is just right for me
Good one .
This shows you how hard big dudes have to work when getting up, waking, moving...aint easy
Love it!
Did a hike with buddies and midway through a guy dropped out due to illness , he limped his way to a roadway pickup but I offered to carry his pack to the destination , 100lbs total gear 12.5 miles , I credit my heavy weight training with my ability to pull this off easily
Went for a ruck early this morning! 6 miles, not even close to 100 pounds lol
Chili definitely dominated this one. And I am at 52 year-old who wanted the older man to win.
"Just watching a disabled veteran writhing around on the ground." 😂
