I love the sentiments of most of the ladies who commented here. My wife, after hearing the song and seeing the video for the first time back in the mid 80's, said basically the same thing. "If that was you, better make sure the plane ticket is one way."

I played this on repeat during my first comment.
      I took a break.
I come back and am convinced that Reba is the only one who can produce this song.
      Like Michaelangelo's 'David'.
      One of a kind.
Like Dolly Pardon's 'i will always love you'.
      M. This is one of a kind.

I lived up here in New England for about 5 years. I moved up for work and school. I was driving home after pulling an all nighter. This song came up on the radio. It dam near made me cry. It was like an angle, calling me down south again. To come home dixi land. All, I do is work and study here. I remembered having friends and relationships down south. Despite all the good thing new England has to offer and being beautiful this time of year. The south is my home. Now excuse me, I have to book a flight down to Nashville for next week, one of my home towns.

It was the first time I saw Reba but I had heard the song "Somebody Should Leave" on the radio a couple of years before and thought Reba could sing the hell out of a song. "Whoever's in New England" cemented that believe.

Joe Mangine She has a symmetrical face, smooth unblemished skin, bright blue eyes, button nose, thick red hair, perfectly skinny body with average hips and bust. I'm not sure how thin lips can negate all other parts of which hold up to normal standards of beauty. Also, some people like thin lips. Oh yeah and personality makes someone attractive as well; as fairy tale as that sounds, you can't deny it. Comparing Reba to Rosie O'Donnell is straight up delusional.

This song came out three months before I was born and I actually hadn't heard it much despite the fact that I have been a lifelong country music fan. I saw Reba post the 37th anniversary of this album on Facebook so I decided to take a listen. I'm now in love with this song! This has to be one of Reba's best next to Does He Love You and Fancy!
Also, as a transportation buff I am REALLY impressed with the Eastern Airlines jet behind Reba when she is singing in the terminal! They folded a couple of years later so you don't see much about them in modern popular culture.

As with most things in today’s throw away society, the point of the song is dearly missed by at least a mile.
She’s wanting her husband to rekindle their love because that’s what we’re supposed to do. She senses he’s thinking about cheating, and she reminds him that he has a family back home, and the grass is never greener on the other side.
He is tempted to go, then he realizes what he will lose at home, and makes the right decision to not go. Marriage saved. And that is what this song represents, not go have your fling and I’ll be here when you’re done.

All those getting upset because the character in the song is willing to take her husband back GET OVER IT. If you don't agree with it, if it happens to you, you don't have to act the same way. Reba herself has said many times over the years this is not how she would react in this situation and if my spouse did this to me nor would I. However, like Reba, I love this song and can appreciate that not everyone would act the same way and it's up to the person to come to their own decision.

+Paul London She may have forgiven him but just wait until he says he has to stay late at the office or take a trip back to Boston. In reality it would be difficult to instantaneously trust him. That's the price one pays for going astray in the first place. Maybe after a few years after he has proven to be faithful then the wife can again have faith in her husband.

    • @StormyTideSage
      @StormyTideSage 8 лет назад +4

I don't think that's the story behind this song at all. This is sung from the perspective of a wife whose husband has to leave town on business frequently. She is baring her deepest fears and insecurities about what's going on while he's out of town and she's alone. There isn't any actual infidelity going on, at least as far as she knows.
