    Hey to everyone!!
    We are two young adults, Despina 24 and Deivids 25 renovating an old farm house from 1817 in Latvia.
    Everything in and out of our house has been done by ourselves with no hired help.
    DIY is going to apply to nearly everything in our house. Our budget is tight and that has made us appreciate every “ugly” part of this house and turn it into something new and beautiful.
    We give new life to things that others would throw away!
    In this journey we are not alone! We are starting up our little Farmily:
    7 Goats & 2 Bucks
    3 Sheep
    4 chickens & 3 Chicks
    1 Rooster
    and 3 Geese
    Oh yeah and our cat Ivi & Dog Keita
    Despite our daily problems we are two young people full of joy and happiness, ready to start a new crazy chapter in our life. It wouldn’t be fair to keep this fun just for us!
    That’s why we want YOU to also be part of our Farmily!!
    We love our very supportive community!!
    Thank you so much for the support you are giving us. Every view, like, share, subscribe and financial support means a lot to us. Any support is extremely appreciated!

    Make sure you round out the corners on the hole you cut into the cast iron of the stove body. The sharp corners will end up cracking with the thermal expansion of the stove… (stress risers). I see that you welded stuff up… anyway - hope you don’t get too much cracking….
    Here in Canada - it would not be legal for us to do what you are doing due to the increased hazards for the building and its occupants…
    Please, please, please make sure that whatever it is you end up with - that you are safe! Carbon monoxide… fire… etc……
    You do say you are going to use setting compound for the firebricks….
    Bringing combustion air in from outside is smart.
    Hope this works out for you…
    Gotta be honest - makes me nervous for your safety…

      Well rocket stoves are like that and if you could see the stoves they build in houses in rural Latvia you would pull your hair out. This is all safe and monoxide alarm is in the room and also the stove is all sealed! External air is much safer and better for the draft and not sucking air out of the room making new air coming in through every part of the house!

    These negative comments are boggling. Deivids and Despina are experimenting with creating multiuse goods made from existing materials. They will be able to cook on the stove, they are planning to heat household water with the stove, and Devids is putting his plans into action. I enjoy watching their creative thinking process. My grandparents farm was filled with innovative invention.

    Maybe you know this already and kinda unrelated to the stove, the ash you collect in the morning when you clean the stove can be used to make a “bath” for chickens, they love it and it keeps the parasites away too. You can make a rectangle/square with 4 pieces of wood (the “bath”) and pour the ash inthere.

    • @nisar8009
      @nisar8009 Год назад +1

      @@DoBeDiff , it’s not the legs that are the issue. It’s the remnants of the firebox that could come in contact with the floor, even though the floor is fireproof. It doesn’t take much to start a house fire. Fireproof doesn’t mean that much in the grand scheme of things when you’re talking about flooring. You should always have either ceramic or metal under a wood stove. I grew up with a wood stove and have used one consistently throughout my lifetime. I just don’t want you to burn down. • @nisar8009
      @nisar8009 Год назад

      @@jacquelinewells7575, the rocket stove will use less wood and retain heat longer. It requires less feeding of the stove in the night. It’s a good idea when you don’t have any other heat source. It’s still a stove where wood is being burned. It needs precautions to be taken just like any other wood stove.

      @@DoBeDiff The better joining method is to use brazing but you would have to insulate the rest of the iron panels to get enough heat into the area to be brazed with an oxy-acetylene torch.
      Another option is to use welding wire or electrode rods with a nickel based alloy that are intended by design for cast iron and dissimilar metal joining/welding. If working with cast iron projects I prefer to use mechanical joining methods if possible(bolting or screwing together)

    Fuel is burned in a simple combustion chamber containing an insulated vertical chimney, which ensures almost complete combustion prior to the flames reaching the cooking surface.

So long as the people taking on a project understand the safety issues and address them then I wholly encourage anyone to be more self sufficient in providing their own solutions...just be sure to read up on the potential hazards first.
