@@Warpia40k As someone who also just got into the hobby this year: Orks are great because they are so diverse and have no strict looks, basically building their stuff from welded trash. So you can get creative and have fun with pretty much any vehicle or parts that could conceivably be in the Warhammer universe / is cheap on eBay as long as it's recognizable as e.g. a truck or mek suit. Have not really played many games yet, but already know that there is a scene here in Munich centered around the "PilsQuelle". p.s. Also Orks are the one faction that is *enjoying* the state of the 40k universe, just living in the moment without care for any lore. WAAAGH!

I only just figured them out a couple of weeks ago thanks to Pete the Wargamer. Months of looking at the sheet in confusion and years of auto-putting it aside. I am more Gork than Mork clearly
As someone who has been in the hobby for over 30 years, let me first say a warm welcome, you have stepped into an amazing world full of rich lore and mostly awesome people. Second, don't rush, take things slowly especially with painting, practice, practice, practice and don't get discouraged if it doesn't turn out like you first thought it would. Third, get some glue! You have made an excellent financial choice with the ultimate starter set, but personally, I wouldn't rely on those push fit to stay together, I'd glue them. And I recommend Tamiya extra thin. You might also want to purchase a hobby knife, if you don't have one already. RUclips is your friend for modelling and painting tips. Welcome dude I hope you have an awesome journey!

Much like yourself I came from a heavy fantasy nerd background, and when I was trying to get into 40k (friend of mine was wanting someone to play with) I very much wanted something rooted in that aspect. I was still deciding on which faction to play as nothing really stuck out to me... And then the Lion El'Jonson mini was revealed. Primarch of the 1st Space Marine legion, The Dark Angels, clad in his wonderfully dark green almost black knightly armor, sword and shield, and beautifully flowing cape. He shone like a beacon to me and I've been hooked ever since! Since then I've introduced my girlfriend to the hobby and she's decided to play Orks! They're wonderfully fun models to look at/build/kitbash/paint! Welcome to the hobby!

I’ve been in the hobby for 7 years now, and my best piece of advice is to get into warhammer 40k kill team. The game is arguably more exciting and snappy, You only need to paint around 10 guys to have a finished force, which lets you get into a bunch of different factions! The new starter set for it is around the corner, and it looks like a great way to get your teeth into the game!!
See yall say it's easier less models.. but then you look how you measure distances with triangles and squares and if the models are hidden or not, if they can do abilities/use gear and we end up back at 40k is easier
the little metal thingie is a mold line scraper. when you assemble the minis, the edges where the casting molds are sometimes leave a fine line of plastic. that little tool is for scraping that tiny line of plastic smooth. on weapons, or armor it's good to check for mold lines, because that slight raised texture will show through the paint.
25 years ago, my son was going to be home for the summer vacation, no camps, adventure journeys etc , so my wife bought us the war hammer 40K starter set to keep us busy. 25 years later I am still working on my second army, with so many editions, versions, updates and a huge fortune spent, it is a never-ending feat of joy, happiness, misery and sorrow. Congratulations and condolences on joining our sometimes happy sometimes not so much, little community. Goodluck, and happy gaming. I offer you this last thought about this game, The person who wins, cant do it by themselves, they need someone to lose but always, it the game play that matters most.
Lovely to see someone getting into the hobby - plus, so many commenters that have also recently got into it, welcome all. Hope you and your partner have lots of fun. I've been into it for about thirty years now, and still haven't broken the habit 🙂 One part of the hobby I enjoy is converting the occasional model - that is, making little (or big!) changes to them before painting just to make them feel that little bit more personal. Things like swapping heads or weapons, or adjusting the positions of arms and legs aren't too difficult but can make a surprising difference to how things look, and you get to have some models that no-one else will because of those personal touches.

Started my Warhammer journey in 2001 when my Dad and I went to a Games Workshop to look at the new Fellowship of the Ring miniatures. Saw these insane and cool models of dudes in blue power armor fighting space orks. So exciting to see new people entering the hobby and documenting their start. Hey, I wish you a lot of fun playing and painting. My first tip is: This is a hobby! Don't rush, but never stop either! Never be mad that past minis you did, because they don't look as good as your new ones! You will always improve, and you will always see that improvement in your minis. That is a good thing. Some day you will love your old minis just for being a reminder of the times you learned things. I still keep minis around from the times me and my brother were starting the game (25 years ago). They are hearthwarmingly ugly.

Loving how enthusiastic you are. There are many chapters of Space Marine you can paint. The blue ones are Ultramarines but I recommend to ask your local Warhammer store about all the chapters before painting them up. My favourite Chapter are the Blood Angels, they are a highly mobile army who are lethal in close combat. The Salamanders are also really cool and they specialise with flame weapons and the go out of their way to protect humans. Space Wolves are basic Norsemen in space. If you like vikings then you'll love Space wolves. Some of them even ride to battle on gigantic wolves. If you like tanks then Iron Warriors are a great fit. They have alot of bionic arms, legs and eyes.i could go on and on, but you get the idea, there are so many chapters to choose from. I'm loving the channel and looking forward to watching you progress to your first battle!
That's 60 or so books for Horus Heresy series, the kind of origin story, but for Warhammer 40k as a whole there's hundreds of books! Some of my favourites are: The Eisenhorn/Revenor/Bequin (10 books) series by Dan Abnett, Bloodlines by Chris Wraight, Helsreach by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Brutal Kunnin' by Mike Brooks, the Ciaphas Cain series (12 books) by Sandy Mitchell, Double Eagle by Dan Abnett, Assassinorum: Kingmaker by Robert Wrath and Valdor: Birth of the Imperium by Chris Wraight. There's so many more I loved, but these are some of my favourites. Black Library (Games Workshop's publishing house) have some incredibly talented authors.

This is so awesome! I've recently started my 40k journey in a very similar way to you, I got completely absorbed by the lore of it. I also played SM2 and I started with the Leviathan starter set, which is very similar to yours, and I've assembled and painted about a quarter of the minis. I wish you the very best on your journey!
Welcome to the hobby. I've not gotten into the table top yet, but I started my journey in 2020 when I decided to start the Horus Heresy. Not all bangers, but there are definitely bangers in the series.
The first mini is an infernus marine, the second mini is a stormcast eternal from Age of Sigmar (Fantasy). Also, there aren't "just" 61 books for Warhammer 40k, there are 61 books just for the Horus Heresy alone :) If you are into 40k lore (Horus Heresy is technically Warhammer 30k) then you might also want to check out the "Eisenhorn" trilogy. There's something around 450 Warhammer 40k novels. As has been mentioned there's 64 Horus heresy books. Any books by Dan Abnett are a must also Aaron Demski-Bowdens Night lords trilogy is exceptional, have fun.

Welcome to the hobby, and thank you for the great video! I've recently gotten back into this year after a 15 year+ break. It's been a great edition for me to come back to because i'm an Ultramarine and a Tyranid player, so the starter set was a great start, funnily enough. The only real tip I have is - the rule of cool above all else! Don't worry about what's good in the game, and get, paint and play with the models you love and feel drawn to. Don't chase the ever changing competitive meta, go with your gut!

That was a Storm Cast Eternal Warrior I THINK and for what to start in the Lore will depend on what you want to get out of it, the Trilogy Starting with Horus rising is a Very powerful starting point. I started when I was 15 with Citadel dwarves that was in 1984 . My sister painted D&D miniatures with oil paints . I wanted to as well so she took me to our Fantasy shop called Scenario in Mainz Germany, now called Merlins . I few years later they started to sell WH40k and I bought all I could get my hands on. I still have most of my minis from back then, and I'm in the process of stripping them and repainting them. Blood Angels is my favorite chapter.

@Warpia40k Alcohol over 90% works, Aceton does, Nailpolish remover too. It depends on what undercoat you've used. Friends of mine used carprimer, which is very durable so they used breakfluid to remove the paint and then washingpetrol to get rid of the breaking fluid. But they said it was worth it. First Edition minis are pretty pricy these days.

That has be the largest amount of replies I´ve ever seen under a channels first video. Anyway, welcome to the rabbit hole. Just a little recommendation : buy your stuff from sellers like Taschengelddieb or Kutami in Germany. They sell everything about 20% cheaper than the Warhammer stores. Regarding the question about the books : Warhammer is such a vast universe that there really is now wrong point to start. Of course, to get information on how the Imperium got to where it is now, the first 3-4 books of the Horus Heresy are good point to start.

Good luck on your hobby journey, 40k lore is immense and an amazing experience. To get an idea of the gameplay there are lots of channels out there screening Warhammer battle reports, my personal favorite is Liam Dempsey, amazing quality, full of laughs and nothing taken too seriously. Tabletop Titans is also great for battle reports.

What i did pretty early wich helped me. Good brushes, good color from vallejo(dropper Bottle) and a wet pallette. these tools are so esetial to fun painting. Viel Glück und viel Spass!

7:09 Where did you get the 61 number from? That probably only refers to the horus heresy related books. There are actually over 400 novels about the 40k universe.

I've been wanting warhammer minis for over a decade and after painting a mini for dnd i decided i wouldn't give up after 5 minutes so i bought an astra militarum army, just shy of 2000 points, i still have a few models i want to get but i'm working through it and loving it, only painted a scout sentinel up at the moment though, i'm slow as fuck and in no way good with a brush, but it's very fun and therapeutic
Emperor Bless you, it's... wonderful to see you start this. Blood Angels are the best chapter btw anything else is heresy and lies spread by people jealous their Primarch isn't Sangunius. Seriously though, the amount of joy having a physical model that you assemble and paint yourself is great. You will love it.
I really like 40k for collecting and painting. For playing, I recommend kill team. Ten models per team, you dont have to spend half a day to wait for your turn, and you can convince friends to pick up a team as well :D
@@Warpia40k I looked at Kill Team, but I didn't feel it. I like Warhammer 40k, longer games, more strategic yet still depends on your dice. I lose myself for hours without realising how quickly time is passing. So, you've got the starter set, my advice stick to that for now.
The "stickers" have different names. Warcraft calls it a "transfer sheet". In America, we often call them "waterslide decals" because you wet them then slide them into place. I think waterslide decals or transfer decals are both equally correct. Congratulations on your new kit and have fun building and painting it!

Given your fantasy background I thought their lord of the rings game Middle Earth Strategy Battle Games would have been first on your list. Mind you with a new starter set coming out in hopefully December, there is always enough room for two game systems right… lol

I started 3½ years ago, 🎉congrats on starting the hobby journey. When I started i told myself to paint the 1st 1000 points of the 2 armies i chose, Tyranids and GSC Which ended up meaning I wasted the 1st 6-8 months that i could of used learning to play the game. Just don't expect to paint everything perfectly straight away and try things out with grey plastic models. This will let you know what units you like and how to expand the army and allow time to choose colour schemes your happy with.
I didn't play in a tournament for over a year where that matters. But since I can't regularly play on weeknights due to work, i now just turn up to them with what's recently been painted. Booking the day off in advance
Space Marines are a good starter army, to learn the game. I personally play Blood Angel marines, a close combat specialist army. I also play Drukhari, just cause they have cool skyboats. The little metal took is a mood line remover, used for scrapping away any imperfections on your mini during assembly

*mold line, typo lol Drukhari are in an odd spot at the moment, 1\3 of the army range just straight up can't be bought. They also went from one the weakest armies to one of the strongest with a new detachment rule.

@@Warpia40k 😆 it was fantasy orc army, army is much to say, I bought one black orc big boss. Old stuff, you can easily find it. Then after couple of them from my friend I decided to leave my hobby cuz I didnt have money. After some time, with not so big orc army I decided to collect chaos warriors. Maybe from my chaos within I dont know 😜 now I have more or less 3/4k points army and Im helping my wife to collect and to paint elven army. Now is Old World running so we will have time to play. Even with the baby on the way 😆 As for 40k, Im much into it for couple of weeks and enjoy to learning this world. I hope you too. And if I may, what is your favourite army for now?

the sheet is a set of decals. you cut them out, put them on a damp cloth, and let soak the paper until the transfer moves, then use a damp brush and apply it on the mini. easier to do on flat surfaces, for curved ones you'd need additional tools like decal softener...
I've been into the lore for a few years now and finally decided to get my first 40k set about one year ago. I haven't decided whether I ever want to play (the idea of building an entire army, learning the rules and being MINDFUL of all the rules when I play with others is very intimidating to me), but i love to collect and paint! My two favorite factions right now are the Adeptus Mechanicus and Adepta Sororitas. I have some kits from each one. Lore-wise, Mechanicus is just super interesting and i love their models, so it is probably my favorite. I just recently got some Sororitas models because I really love how over-the-top they are! I mean, they have a tank with a freaking stained glass window on it and another that looks like a pipe organ tank 😂 They look so intimidating, but fun to paint (though, I don't know how I'd even start to go about putting together a whole army of them! Anyway, all that to say, I'm kind of new to the model/painting part of the hobby also! Welcome! Also, if you want to save a little money, look at Army Painter paints/accessories and check out some online sites for better prices on the minis. Love going into the local Games Workshop store, but it's 'spensive! 🤑

@@Warpia40k I succumbed to temptation and revisited my local Games Workshop store last night, actually...haha. So much for following my own advice. But yes, I've listened to the first book in the Horus Heresy and half of the 2nd book so far on Audible - the narrator is great and I find I can enjoy it more when I'm being read to 😂 Also, I agree - Mechanicus is one of the most interesting factions! I actually fell in love with them when playing the game 'Mechanicus' on my Switch.
That little little thing is for removing mold lines. It’s meant to give the person something safer than dragging an x-acto knife like people usually do. 16:17
best way to store these is to find a plastic container and install rubber steel sheets. Than magnetize the miniatures that way it stays in place. Keeps it compact and you don't have to worry as much about it breaking during transport.
As already mentioned the horus heresy is more around 30k, but anyways pretty damn cool to learn the background of the 40k factions. Definitely check out the Ciaphas Cain and Eisenhorn books. They're placed in 40k and are great books to get started. Other recommendations are Nightlords, gaunts Geister, Eisensturm. Btw in spotify you can find a lot of german audiobooks available. Including the above mentioned
Good choice for heresy background in the first omnibus. Not sure if they are available in your language but there are space marine omnibus books available for several chapters
New to the game myself, a friend got me into it as revenge for getting him into Magic. Ive been painting and expanding my Necrons for just about three months now and loving it
Awesome to see so many new people getting into the hobby, I've loved the Warhammer lore both Fantasy and 40k for a long time and I've played lots of the video games but I hadn't bought any minis before. Well, after playing Space Marine 2 I decided it's finally time to get addicted to plastic crack lol. I bought some of the Death Korps of Krieg that they released for Kill Team and I've been having a ton of fun putting them together, next up: PAINTJOB! 😂

The first 4 Hours Heresy Books are the best starting point. War hammer TV is also a nice way to get into lots of animation and stuff. The GE shop should have paint lessons and help you build your miniature. Join a community group close to your house is best advice as it can be difficult to travel with your army.

I started a year ago with Warhammer. There’s so much to like, it’s very overwhelming 😅. I started with a 40K starter set en after that a age of Sigmar starter set. And now I got a cities of Sigmar set😊 welcome to the hobby!!
It's funny, I'm only a few months ahead of you on a very similar journey. I watched the same Bricky Lore video which totally sold me on the 40k Universe. I bought the Ultimate Starter Set this summer and I'm painting the Tyranids from the box while watching your video. I'm about 12 books into the Horus Heresy right now and absolutely loving it. I'm looking forward to seeing where this adventure takes you.
Party on! Enjoy yourself, the hobby is great fun. The small metal tool you were holding is for removing mould lines. When the sprues are cast, there are small lines left over on the pieces of the model you can scrape off gently to achieve smooth surfaces. I play Death Guard in 40k and Bretonnia in Fantasy!

Welcome aboard the Warhammer journey, hope you will enjoy it. A little tip from an old dude: write down what colors you use so that if you want to go back and paint more of an army at a later time you remember what colors you used when painting it before. Not a problem in the beginning, but when you get lots of paints and many armies it can be hard to remember what exact color you used.

@@Warpia40k As someone who also just got into the hobby this year: Orks are great because they are so diverse and have no strict looks, basically building their stuff from welded trash. So you can get creative and have fun with pretty much any vehicle or parts that could conceivably be in the Warhammer universe / is cheap on eBay as long as it's recognizable as e.g. a truck or mek suit.
Have not really played many games yet, but already know that there is a scene here in Munich centered around the "PilsQuelle".

Also Orks are the one faction that is *enjoying* the state of the 40k universe, just living in the moment without care for any lore. WAAAGH!

As someone who has been in the hobby for over 30 years, let me first say a warm welcome, you have stepped into an amazing world full of rich lore and mostly awesome people.
Second, don't rush, take things slowly especially with painting, practice, practice, practice and don't get discouraged if it doesn't turn out like you first thought it would.
Third, get some glue! You have made an excellent financial choice with the ultimate starter set, but personally, I wouldn't rely on those push fit to stay together, I'd glue them. And I recommend Tamiya extra thin. You might also want to purchase a hobby knife, if you don't have one already. RUclips is your friend for modelling and painting tips.

Much like yourself I came from a heavy fantasy nerd background, and when I was trying to get into 40k (friend of mine was wanting someone to play with) I very much wanted something rooted in that aspect.
I was still deciding on which faction to play as nothing really stuck out to me... And then the Lion El'Jonson mini was revealed. Primarch of the 1st Space Marine legion, The Dark Angels, clad in his wonderfully dark green almost black knightly armor, sword and shield, and beautifully flowing cape. He shone like a beacon to me and I've been hooked ever since!
Since then I've introduced my girlfriend to the hobby and she's decided to play Orks! They're wonderfully fun models to look at/build/kitbash/paint!

I’ve been in the hobby for 7 years now, and my best piece of advice is to get into warhammer 40k kill team. The game is arguably more exciting and snappy, You only need to paint around 10 guys to have a finished force, which lets you get into a bunch of different factions! The new starter set for it is around the corner, and it looks like a great way to get your teeth into the game!!

See yall say it's easier less models.. but then you look how you measure distances with triangles and squares and if the models are hidden or not, if they can do abilities/use gear and we end up back at 40k is easier
the little metal thingie is a mold line scraper. when you assemble the minis, the edges where the casting molds are sometimes leave a fine line of plastic. that little tool is for scraping that tiny line of plastic smooth. on weapons, or armor it's good to check for mold lines, because that slight raised texture will show through the paint.

25 years ago, my son was going to be home for the summer vacation, no camps, adventure journeys etc , so my wife bought us the war hammer 40K starter set to keep us busy. 25 years later I am still working on my second army, with so many editions, versions, updates and a huge fortune spent, it is a never-ending feat of joy, happiness, misery and sorrow. Congratulations and condolences on joining our sometimes happy sometimes not so much, little community. Goodluck, and happy gaming. I offer you this last thought about this game, The person who wins, cant do it by themselves, they need someone to lose but always, it the game play that matters most.

Lovely to see someone getting into the hobby - plus, so many commenters that have also recently got into it, welcome all. Hope you and your partner have lots of fun. I've been into it for about thirty years now, and still haven't broken the habit 🙂
One part of the hobby I enjoy is converting the occasional model - that is, making little (or big!) changes to them before painting just to make them feel that little bit more personal. Things like swapping heads or weapons, or adjusting the positions of arms and legs aren't too difficult but can make a surprising difference to how things look, and you get to have some models that no-one else will because of those personal touches.

My first tip is: This is a hobby! Don't rush, but never stop either!
Never be mad that past minis you did, because they don't look as good as your new ones! You will always improve, and you will always see that improvement in your minis. That is a good thing. Some day you will love your old minis just for being a reminder of the times you learned things.
I still keep minis around from the times me and my brother were starting the game (25 years ago). They are hearthwarmingly ugly.

Loving how enthusiastic you are. There are many chapters of Space Marine you can paint. The blue ones are Ultramarines but I recommend to ask your local Warhammer store about all the chapters before painting them up. My favourite Chapter are the Blood Angels, they are a highly mobile army who are lethal in close combat. The Salamanders are also really cool and they specialise with flame weapons and the go out of their way to protect humans. Space Wolves are basic Norsemen in space. If you like vikings then you'll love Space wolves. Some of them even ride to battle on gigantic wolves. If you like tanks then Iron Warriors are a great fit. They have alot of bionic arms, legs and eyes.i could go on and on, but you get the idea, there are so many chapters to choose from. I'm loving the channel and looking forward to watching you progress to your first battle!
That's 60 or so books for Horus Heresy series, the kind of origin story, but for Warhammer 40k as a whole there's hundreds of books! Some of my favourites are: The Eisenhorn/Revenor/Bequin (10 books) series by Dan Abnett, Bloodlines by Chris Wraight, Helsreach by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Brutal Kunnin' by Mike Brooks, the Ciaphas Cain series (12 books) by Sandy Mitchell, Double Eagle by Dan Abnett, Assassinorum: Kingmaker by Robert Wrath and Valdor: Birth of the Imperium by Chris Wraight. There's so many more I loved, but these are some of my favourites. Black Library (Games Workshop's publishing house) have some incredibly talented authors.

The first mini is an infernus marine, the second mini is a stormcast eternal from Age of Sigmar (Fantasy). Also, there aren't "just" 61 books for Warhammer 40k, there are 61 books just for the Horus Heresy alone :) If you are into 40k lore (Horus Heresy is technically Warhammer 30k) then you might also want to check out the "Eisenhorn" trilogy. There's something around 450 Warhammer 40k novels. As has been mentioned there's 64 Horus heresy books. Any books by Dan Abnett are a must also Aaron Demski-Bowdens Night lords trilogy is exceptional, have fun.
I've been loving the books. I've read a few 40k books, and the Horus Rising. I do own like 14 40k books, but only 2 Horus Heresy books

Welcome to the hobby, and thank you for the great video! I've recently gotten back into this year after a 15 year+ break. It's been a great edition for me to come back to because i'm an Ultramarine and a Tyranid player, so the starter set was a great start, funnily enough. The only real tip I have is - the rule of cool above all else! Don't worry about what's good in the game, and get, paint and play with the models you love and feel drawn to. Don't chase the ever changing competitive meta, go with your gut!

Been involved in the WH40k Hobby since the Early 90s Late Late 80s. I LOVE WH40k and have to say with All my Heart welcome to the Hobby Friend, you have just embarked on quite a journey. I Love and it makes me smile to see the excitement in your video. Congratulations, you will make alot of friends, build your skills in the hobby dive deeper down the Lore hole. Im excited for you! That was a Storm Cast Eternal Warrior I THINK and for what to start in the Lore will depend on what you want to get out of it, the Trilogy Starting with Horus rising is a Very powerful starting point. It's the beginning of the most insanely crazy event in Warhammer 40k history the Horus Heresy. Ask Lots of Questions, don't be shy you will have many who want to help
I started when I was 15 with Citadel dwarves that was in 1984 . My sister painted D&D miniatures with oil paints . I wanted to as well so she took me to our Fantasy shop called Scenario in Mainz Germany, now called Merlins . I few years later they started to sell WH40k and I bought all I could get my hands on. I still have most of my minis from back then, and I'm in the process of stripping them and repainting them. Blood Angels is my favorite chapter.

@Warpia40k Alcohol over 90% works, Aceton does, Nailpolish remover too. It depends on what undercoat you've used. Friends of mine used carprimer, which is very durable so they used breakfluid to remove the paint and then washingpetrol to get rid of the breaking fluid. But they said it was worth it. First Edition minis are pretty pricy these days.

That has be the largest amount of replies I´ve ever seen under a channels first video. Anyway, welcome to the rabbit hole. Just a little recommendation : buy your stuff from sellers like Taschengelddieb or Kutami in Germany. They sell everything about 20% cheaper than the Warhammer stores.
Regarding the question about the books : Warhammer is such a vast universe that there really is now wrong point to start. Of course, to get information on how the Imperium got to where it is now, the first 3-4 books of the Horus Heresy are good point to start.
Actually I am also surprised and still overwhelmed by all the nice comments and story’s. Thank you a lot to recommend this shop, since u am living in Germany, the shipping will be also fast 🤩

To get an idea of the gameplay there are lots of channels out there screening Warhammer battle reports, my personal favorite is Liam Dempsey, amazing quality, full of laughs and nothing taken too seriously. Tabletop Titans is also great for battle reports.

What i did pretty early wich helped me. Good brushes, good color from vallejo(dropper Bottle) and a wet pallette. these tools are so esetial to fun painting. Viel Glück und viel Spass!

I've been wanting warhammer minis for over a decade and after painting a mini for dnd i decided i wouldn't give up after 5 minutes so i bought an astra militarum army, just shy of 2000 points, i still have a few models i want to get but i'm working through it and loving it, only painted a scout sentinel up at the moment though, i'm slow as fuck and in no way good with a brush, but it's very fun and therapeutic

I really like 40k for collecting and painting. For playing, I recommend kill team. Ten models per team, you dont have to spend half a day to wait for your turn, and you can convince friends to pick up a team as well :D

@@Warpia40k I looked at Kill Team, but I didn't feel it. I like Warhammer 40k, longer games, more strategic yet still depends on your dice. I lose myself for hours without realising how quickly time is passing. So, you've got the starter set, my advice stick to that for now.
The "stickers" have different names. Warcraft calls it a "transfer sheet". In America, we often call them "waterslide decals" because you wet them then slide them into place. I think waterslide decals or transfer decals are both equally correct. Congratulations on your new kit and have fun building and painting it!
Always great to see someone new coming into the hobby with such enthusiasm. Given your fantasy background I thought their lord of the rings game Middle Earth Strategy Battle Games would have been first on your list. Mind you with a new starter set coming out in hopefully December, there is always enough room for two game systems right… lol

I started 3½ years ago, 🎉congrats on starting the hobby journey. When I started i told myself to paint the 1st 1000 points of the 2 armies i chose, Tyranids and GSC Which ended up meaning I wasted the 1st 6-8 months that i could of used learning to play the game. Just don't expect to paint everything perfectly straight away and try things out with grey plastic models. This will let you know what units you like and how to expand the army and allow time to choose colour schemes your happy with.

I didn't play in a tournament for over a year where that matters. But since I can't regularly play on weeknights due to work, i now just turn up to them with what's recently been painted. Booking the day off in advance
Space Marines are a good starter army, to learn the game. I personally play Blood Angel marines, a close combat specialist army. I also play Drukhari, just cause they have cool skyboats.
The little metal took is a mood line remover, used for scrapping away any imperfections on your mini during assembly

Drukhari are in an odd spot at the moment, 1\3 of the army range just straight up can't be bought. They also went from one the weakest armies to one of the strongest with a new detachment rule.

@@Warpia40k 😆 it was fantasy orc army, army is much to say, I bought one black orc big boss. Old stuff, you can easily find it. Then after couple of them from my friend I decided to leave my hobby cuz I didnt have money. After some time, with not so big orc army I decided to collect chaos warriors. Maybe from my chaos within I dont know 😜 now I have more or less 3/4k points army and Im helping my wife to collect and to paint elven army. Now is Old World running so we will have time to play. Even with the baby on the way 😆 As for 40k, Im much into it for couple of weeks and enjoy to learning this world. I hope you too.

the sheet is a set of decals. you cut them out, put them on a damp cloth, and let soak the paper until the transfer moves, then use a damp brush and apply it on the mini. easier to do on flat surfaces, for curved ones you'd need additional tools like decal softener...

I've been into the lore for a few years now and finally decided to get my first 40k set about one year ago. I haven't decided whether I ever want to play (the idea of building an entire army, learning the rules and being MINDFUL of all the rules when I play with others is very intimidating to me), but i love to collect and paint!
My two favorite factions right now are the Adeptus Mechanicus and Adepta Sororitas. I have some kits from each one. Lore-wise, Mechanicus is just super interesting and i love their models, so it is probably my favorite. I just recently got some Sororitas models because I really love how over-the-top they are! I mean, they have a tank with a freaking stained glass window on it and another that looks like a pipe organ tank 😂 They look so intimidating, but fun to paint (though, I don't know how I'd even start to go about putting together a whole army of them!
Anyway, all that to say, I'm kind of new to the model/painting part of the hobby also! Welcome!
Also, if you want to save a little money, look at Army Painter paints/accessories and check out some online sites for better prices on the minis. Love going into the local Games Workshop store, but it's 'spensive! 🤑

@@Warpia40k I succumbed to temptation and revisited my local Games Workshop store last night, actually...haha. So much for following my own advice. But yes, I've listened to the first book in the Horus Heresy and half of the 2nd book so far on Audible - the narrator is great and I find I can enjoy it more when I'm being read to 😂
Also, I agree - Mechanicus is one of the most interesting factions! I actually fell in love with them when playing the game 'Mechanicus' on my Switch.
That little little thing is for removing mold lines. It’s meant to give the person something safer than dragging an x-acto knife like people usually do. 16:17

best way to store these is to find a plastic container and install rubber steel sheets. Than magnetize the miniatures that way it stays in place. Keeps it compact and you don't have to worry as much about it breaking during transport.

As already mentioned the horus heresy is more around 30k, but anyways pretty damn cool to learn the background of the 40k factions.
Definitely check out the Ciaphas Cain and Eisenhorn books.
They're placed in 40k and are great books to get started.
Other recommendations are
Nightlords, gaunts Geister, Eisensturm.
Btw in spotify you can find a lot of german audiobooks available.

Good choice for heresy background in the first omnibus. Not sure if they are available in your language but there are space marine omnibus books available for several chapters

Awesome to see so many new people getting into the hobby, I've loved the Warhammer lore both Fantasy and 40k for a long time and I've played lots of the video games but I hadn't bought any minis before. Well, after playing Space Marine 2 I decided it's finally time to get addicted to plastic crack lol. I bought some of the Death Korps of Krieg that they released for Kill Team and I've been having a ton of fun putting them together, next up: PAINTJOB! 😂

The first 4 Hours Heresy Books are the best starting point. War hammer TV is also a nice way to get into lots of animation and stuff. The GE shop should have paint lessons and help you build your miniature. Join a community group close to your house is best advice as it can be difficult to travel with your army.

It's funny, I'm only a few months ahead of you on a very similar journey. I watched the same Bricky Lore video which totally sold me on the 40k Universe. I bought the Ultimate Starter Set this summer and I'm painting the Tyranids from the box while watching your video. I'm about 12 books into the Horus Heresy right now and absolutely loving it. Party on! Enjoy yourself, the hobby is great fun. The small metal tool you were holding is for removing mould lines. When the sprues are cast, there are small lines left over on the pieces of the model you can scrape off gently to achieve smooth surfaces. I play Death Guard in 40k and Bretonnia in Fantasy!

A little tip from an old dude: write down what colors you use so that if you want to go back and paint more of an army at a later time you remember what colors you used when painting it before. Not a problem in the beginning, but when you get lots of paints and many armies it can be hard to remember what exact color you used.

My first 40k books were the Eisenhorn Trilogy (and following books) and Infinite and the Divine. Both very good books which you don't need to know alot of lore beforehand.
