  • Facilitated by Quakers in Britain and Plum Village UK, the event, open to all, called for peace amidst the rising challenges of hatred, anger, destruction, displacement, and suffering.
With more than 30 ongoing conflicts around the world, particularly with the ongoing and escalating violence in Palestine in response to the 7th October attacks in Israel, the silent vigil aimed to transcend religious and cultural boundaries.
During the walk, faith communities shared their dedication to non-violence, reconciliation and peace, united in the common pursuit of harmonious co-existence.
    Opening prayers and shared wisdom:
Rowena Loverance, Chair of Churches Together in England, Quaker, Rabbi Alexandra Wright, President Liberal Judaism, Imam Asim Hafiz, OBE, Islam, Padideh Sabeti, Bahá’i, Mandip Singh, Sikh, Maureen Goodman, Brahma Kumari, Hindu, Ricky Gellissen, Druidry, Shahin Bekhradnia, Zoroastrian, Paras Meisheri, Jain, Venerable Canda Bhikkhuni, Buddhist.
With special thanks to Rehena Harilall of the Plum Village Tradition (Buddhist, Thich Nhat Hanh) for the visioning of Peace is Every Step.

This is a positive step to understanding what real belief is.

I'm interested in Quakerism, but I live in Brazil and here there is no type of representation, neither physical nor virtual, could you give me some link so I can access the meetings online?

I'm interested in Quakerism but I'm not a pacifist. Please could you recommend some sources which explain why Quakers are pacifists. Thanks

You don't have to be a pacifist to be a Quaker but the peace testimony is a core tenet. This is probably a good introduction to the topic: www.quaker.org.uk/blog/why-i-am-still-a-pacifist, and here: qfp.quaker.org.uk/chapter/24/. Many introductory books on Quakerism go into this in more detail and you can find these in the Quaker Bookshop: bookshop.quaker.org.uk/quakerism
