Many other African countries are experiencing power shortages. It’s a challenging time but we hope that in the coming few years, power shortages will be a thing of the past once we become a continent of innovators & not just consumers.
So we are suffering because of a pledge to emission reduction which is a problem caused by Asia and the west? Run the units beyond the emission limits, we will deal with those in a year or two
@Supreme Monokeng Precisely!!! Cabinet signed deals that compromises the capacity of these stations to maximize their outputs due to a false agenda of global warming: hence the emissions reduction. Remember President Ramaphosa SIGNED a deal with President Biden NOT to use our coal, hence you see on the N3 to Durban first grade coal that we should have been using being transported to the Harbour to be exported to Europe. My question is: how is this not colonization?
It’s crazy that we only address “load shedding” instead of addressing the lack of supply enough for future growth. We need at least 10,000W stable supply extra to unlock the growth potential. Probably even more. We should be growing at least 4-5% a year instead of 0% growth. Our growth has been lagging population growth for years
But when governemnt says they need to build new power generation plants, some rent-a-crowd so-called "civic organizations" like OUTA and Accountability Now creep out from under their rocks to prevent such ventures. They want to give you that 10 000 MW from capital IPP's solar farms.
Your government build new generating capacity in Medupi and Kusile but they are giving nothing. We can't justify giving ANC a nuse to hang our economy and fiscal
The issue that the Electricity minister, minister of finance and the President are facing is convincing South Africans that the missteps and misdemeanors of the past won’t be repeated. We are yet to see any arrests or charges brought forward for the alleged misdemeanors that have put us in this state where we’ll be faced with a deficit of 10k MW in Winter, which is effectively stage 10.
@Bantu Mahali I am struggling to call corruption misdemeanor, I think the minister used the wrong word there. The effect of this corruption in our lives as citizens and south african business is clearly not minor, hence such should not be called misdemeanor.
Misdemeanor is on the same level as petty crime and shoplifting, the corruption at Eskom and effects on the SA economy is on or beyond the level of treason.😮
Remember fellow South Africans, loadshedding proudly brought to you by the cANCer squad and their cronies Don't be fooled by a few hours of no sheds this weekend compared to the last decade
We have attempted to get the parts direct from the manufacturers and failed because they want us to go through their agents that were there during apartheid time. These agents deliberately delay delivery and increase the prices in order for black entrepreneurs to fail. We have the capacity to import and deliver within 5 days but the agents will ensure that we get parts after 12 weeks.
So what did you add to what ADR did not reported on in the past.... 😂.. Just read his report and stop covering ANC deficiencies and Corruption.... The rest will follow. Money for proper maintenance and the staff's moral at the power stations will florish...
Demand is demand we pay for it fool. Get your generation side up and running. You should not decide when we have power we should have power all the time.
They are unable to detect the root cause because the unit is old, however on the new ones, they are able to detect the cause, fix it and return it to generation. Yet less than 5 minutes ago, you said there is no relationship between. Generation and the age of the station! Which one is it? Or perhaps you do not see the contradiction? The Inability to identify root cause affects generation and that is because of age. Am I missing something here?
Lol, he says what we already know, we want solutions to end loadshetting not problems, it seems we will have this loadshetting for two to three years because the minister does not have understating of how Eskom generation works, South Africa is a movie
