Okay, this didn't take long, but the ELEVATOR issue is now being investigated currently. As for the RUDDER issue, the rudder locking up is a historical issue with this aircraft. It's known to lock up at 520 knots. I do not agree that it should be quite this prevalent however, seeing as its extremely noticeable at half that speed. UPDATE: APPARENTLY the Su7 has this flaw now too. Not AS bad but still renders your plane uncontrollable at very low speeds. Lemme also add one more thing because I'm seeing too many folks say "That's what the instructor is supposed to do, prevent you from stalling" FIRST OF ALL, NO. NO NO NO. We are not a damn 737 MAX with MCAS here. That's not how it works. SECOND If you want to argue that INSTRUCTOR is preventing you from stalling, then it should be pushing the nose in the direction of DOWN, not randomly flopping the tail around. Cmon people. Dogfighting and aerobatical performances rely on an aircrafts performance at slow speed. Instructor LIMITS alot of that performance, so most people try using FULL REAL controls to compensate for that. THIS issue however, cannot be solved by full real controls. When I first saw this on the F100 over a year ago, I tried just that, FULL REAL to combat it. It still does it... even worse might I add. Anyways /end rant
Did you know first generation T34's and some later variants had no gunner sight? A deep point. If Gaijin are going to introduce vehicles, they need to work and be at a balanced BR. I have a problem... i have ground hard for every vehicle in UK air... and only have this aircraft left to grind... lucky me.
@Marcus Macena my comment was specifically on the Rudder not the rest of the FM and i also said it was likely exaggerated how bad it is at lower speeds. Equating a planes flight performance and how reliable something else is isn't exactly apples to apples. Last of all it's a video game not real life combat doesn't happen in game like it does in real life.

the Fg1 is the FGR 2 with a carrier spawn. with the same plane its only advantage is the carrier spawn, where it gets launched forwards for extra speed
Well this is now the 3rd British Jet that has had issues on launch why am i not surprised. and the 4th Jet in general. SMB2/Javelin/Lightening/Scimitar
it is doing that elevator thing cause of the instructor preventing the plane from stalling, if you try that in sim you will istantly go in a flat spin. Simply that plane cannot pull so hard at that speed

Gaijin has acknowledged the issue and will be fixing it. Sadly I've found it in other aircraft already like Su7. It's been an acknowledged issue in the F100 as well

Hmmm, I use joystick control, for me Instructor does nothing more than act like a stability control and ABS on a car (it stops you from nearly all wing stalls, and sometimes limits the aircraft from maneuvering at Gs that will rip the wing), so I'd be interested to see how this flies for me. (I turn Instructor off for planes I don't feel I need it on though). I don't have the tech tree unlocked to the Scimitar yet though, I have mostly bypassed the naval jets for now, researching a Hunter.
We're not trying to prevent stalls, we're trying to agitate them. I am telling the aircraft to pull full elevator and its not doing it. We're not flying a 737 Max here with MCAS... lmao But Gaijin has acknowledged this quite quickly, and I think we will see a fix rather soon for it. The rudder, is going to be an ongoing battle i fear.
I also don't understand adding the Fleet air arm phantom and the scimitar when there are only WW2 carriers. They can't take off from them and landing in them is quite difficult.
if i remember correctly, that floppy elevator and rudder bug/ bad model were in the game last year already, I think it was on the mig 19 at low speeds but i'm not sure.
Yeah it was in the mig 19 about a year ago, I used to fly on my side and use the elevator as rudder to line up the shots, but it was never as bad as what we see in this video The Ho-229 has no rudder and it’s still easier to aim than the scimitar
I've noticed the wobbly elevator issue on the A-5 sabre at stall speed as well, I think. But it's been a while, so I could be wrong. Not to the same extent as this plane, but still.
Can confirm that the Flight model has serious issues dealing with the instructor. The rudder is known to be a bit shit at 520 knots, but it loses way too much way too fast. Then the ailerons. The pilots manual states that the roll rate increases as the speed increases. The roll rate in the Scimitar peaks at 125°/second at 500 km/h. At 1150 km/h the roll rate is halved to 60°/second. That doesn't seem to be an increase to me... And as you've said. The elevator is just shot. I personally haven't noticed the issue you described. However, when using mouse-aim the elevator is way too sluggish. When using full-real controls it's a lot faster to respond. It's like the aircraft takes way too long to reach its maximum G force in a turn because the movement of the elevator is so slow and so restricted.
I'm not holding alot of hope for them fixing the rudder.. but the elevator will be fixed I have been told already. Glad to know someone actually agrees with me though. Smin approached me shortly after i launched this video, and about the same time you left the first comment. I know he didn't appreciate me making this video. He's a really good dude though, so I hope y'all don't harass him too hard. What I do know is they are investigating the elevator issue, and due to the all this chaos they MAY reopen a case to fix this rudder. What we had in the dev server was so much better than what we have now. Once either one of these items get fixed, I will revisit the aircraft and I may even take this video down.

You've said the elevator is being investigated and I submitted a bug report for the roll-rate on Thursday, although nobody has viewed it yet. So I bet a decent chance that if two out of three control surfaces are broken, then the rudder is too.
i had the negative elevator in other planes too! i'd try to get out of a dive or i would try to out turn poeple and the elevator just stops responding no matter how often i repress my S button, it got me killed allot of times, its not the plane, its some kind of bug? desync?
Not that this plane will be good if it works properly. It always get uptiered 9.7 where F-104 and G.91 YS dominates. Speaking of which what do you think about F-104A/C at 9.7?
Any thoughts on the Mirage? It's pretty clear it lacks acceleration compared to real life, but there's a major problem especially with top end acceleration. Testing it with all perf mods and only cannons, i barely scraped 2060 TAS at 12 km, not THAT far from the stat card max speed of 2160 at 12km (further from the real life top speed of 2350 at 12km), but it took more than half an hour to get to that speed, with constant afterburner. (I.E. nobody will ever do that in combat).
it's the same thing with the sparviero (the boat)...... i bought it, first dev server it was godly.... second it was alright now it's shit, and bugged to uselessness. if you try to turn tightly it just bugs out all over the place
Hey whooptie, for quite some time i encountered a problem with the guns on f86 f2 sabre, they don t seem to work quite well, i always get lots of hits and a lot of times when i get crits they seem to do nothing i rarely get straight up kills, can you look into it, please ?
run armored target loadout. Its common lately since they buffed damage models. The guns as far as I know were unchanged though but you're not the only one having issues.
Thing is tho, the actual performance is insane, especially for 8.7. It has so much damn power and speed. But that's literally it. The rudder is worse than 1.39 MiG-15, the worst rudder authority I've ever experienced in this game. I've always had an issue with Instructor even though I have it "off" in the settings. But, yes, it is baaaad. I'm all about modelling realistic problems such as the rudder locking up, but c'mon. They've artificially buffed things many times by NOT including a historical issue in many vehicles because it wouldn't be fun. Why does this plane get it? Meh. It's a beautiful plane, but an ugly FM

Aww yes this plane..... did a test flight on this and for those who cant do one heres what happens: after something like 650kph the rudder locks and I mean, *it really locks!* Went parallel to the cliffs of Dover heading east then do a big 180 to land on the airfield using mostly rudder only, and guess what, went straight into the map border... I still wonder if Gaijin knows what "quality control" means..
if it does negative elevator than its either your keyboard or your internet as well as you can turn off instructor by flying in realistic flight controls
I've been playing the scimitar quite a bit, and however much I hate the rudder and shit making it difficult to get guns on target, I've been enjoying it. Wonder if they'll ever change anything about it
if they can fix this low speed elevator glitch, then I'll fly it. It's not fun but I spent enough time in the Farmer PT when it came out to get used to rudder issues. Not saying it would be the best, but with that much power, I can make it work.
Pretty sure the elevator thing is just the instructor freaking out and trying to keep it from losing control. As for the rudder, it is a chunky plane with weird dimensions. Seems a bit strange.
Ho229 was the first jet I grinded for. I mean, seriously just fly it like the ho and itll be fine I'm speaking from a perspective where I dont own the scimitar yet. But the 2 planes look as if they behave exactly the same
Yea I grinded it and I got it spaded no GE used at the start it is more then painful but it gets better if you are spaded but I only grinded it for grounds tricking at ground RB so there the rudder is still a problem but not as much as in air RB Well there is still one good thing at the moment for this plane there are so much S.O 4050 that you can catch easy what makes it more easy to get kills but gl hf to kill a G91 pilot that is not 100% brain dead

Not sure if this Flight Model was made by Gaijin (probably though) but the Aircraftmodel wasnt, its a revenue share model, and the same Issues werethere on the Dev Server. The Rudder locks at about 550-600kph and it basically becomes a flying target practice, even the fucking Javelin performs better. #o7Brother
As far as the rudder goes, the manual for the Scimitar says that it is almost immovable above 520kt (963kph). It seems that the rudder's power loss is also very harsh before that mark though. And I have no idea why the instructor just decides to do whatever it wants, that needs to be changed.

So I bet a decent chance that if two out of three control surfaces are broken, then the rudder is too.

i had the negative elevator in other planes too! i'd try to get out of a dive or i would try to out turn poeple and the elevator just stops responding no matter how often i repress my S button, it got me killed allot of times, its not the plane, its some kind of bug? desync?
It's a bug, and yes it's present in a few other planes too... Including F100 and Su7. By the information im being told, they are addressing the issue

Not that this plane will be good if it works properly. It always get uptiered 9.7 where F-104 and G.91 YS dominates. Speaking of which what do you think about F-104A/C at 9.7?
Any thoughts on the Mirage? It's pretty clear it lacks acceleration compared to real life, but there's a major problem especially with top end acceleration. Testing it with all perf mods and only cannons, i barely scraped 2060 TAS at 12 km, not THAT far from the stat card max speed of 2160 at 12km (further from the real life top speed of 2350 at 12km), but it took more than half an hour to get to that speed, with constant afterburner. (I.E. nobody will ever do that in combat).
I haven''t flown it in live server, and since its heavily covered I don't have any rush to do it either. Sorry, will visit at some point though.

Hey whooptie, for quite some time i encountered a problem with the guns on f86 f2 sabre, they don t seem to work quite well, i always get lots of hits and a lot of times when i get crits they seem to do nothing i rarely get straight up kills, can you look into it, please ?
run armored target loadout. Its common lately since they buffed damage models. The guns as far as I know were unchanged though but you're not the only one having issues.

Thing is tho, the actual performance is insane, especially for 8.7. It has so much damn power and speed. But that's literally it. The rudder is worse than 1.39 MiG-15, the worst rudder authority I've ever experienced in this game. I've always had an issue with Instructor even though I have it "off" in the settings. But, yes, it is baaaad. I'm all about modelling realistic problems such as the rudder locking up, but c'mon. They've artificially buffed things many times by NOT including a historical issue in many vehicles because it wouldn't be fun. Why does this plane get it?

Aww yes this plane..... did a test flight on this and for those who cant do one heres what happens: after something like 650kph the rudder locks and I mean, *it really locks!* Went parallel to the cliffs of Dover heading east then do a big 180 to land on the airfield using mostly rudder only, and guess what, went straight into the map border...
I still wonder if Gaijin knows what "quality control" means..

I've been playing the scimitar quite a bit, and however much I hate the rudder and shit making it difficult to get guns on target, I've been enjoying it. Wonder if they'll ever change anything about it
if they can fix this low speed elevator glitch, then I'll fly it. It's not fun but I spent enough time in the Farmer PT when it came out to get used to rudder issues. Not saying it would be the best, but with that much power, I can make it work.

Pretty sure the elevator thing is just the instructor freaking out and trying to keep it from losing control. As for the rudder, it is a chunky plane with weird dimensions. Seems a bit strange.
I think the FM and DM o the Scimitar was going to be a user model in war thunder live. Maybe Gaijin took as it was and didn't cange anything.

Yes, but you can work around a high speed rudder lock. Lack of low speed elevator authority will kill you every time.

Yea I grinded it and I got it spaded no GE used at the start it is more then painful but it gets better if you are spaded but I only grinded it for grounds tricking at ground RB so there the rudder is still a problem but not as much as in air RB
Well there is still one good thing at the moment for this plane there are so much S.O 4050 that you can catch easy what makes it more easy to get kills but gl hf to kill a G91 pilot that is not 100% brain dead

It makes me sad. Everytime I get excited for a new British vehicles they always manage to make sure you regret it.
Not sure if this Flight Model was made by Gaijin (probably though) but the Aircraftmodel wasnt, its a revenue share model, and the same Issues werethere on the Dev Server. The Rudder locks at about 550-600kph and it basically becomes a flying target practice, even the fucking Javelin performs better. #o7Brother

As far as the rudder goes, the manual for the Scimitar says that it is almost immovable above 520kt (963kph). It seems that the rudder's power loss is also very harsh before that mark though. And I have no idea why the instructor just decides to do whatever it wants, that needs to be changed.
