  • We love travel but have never taken a train for a different city. What better way but to start our journey at the iconic Moynihan Train Hall, that costed $1.6 Billion to build/renovate

Great video. 👋 And it's perfect for me again like your Atlanta Airport video. In exactly one month I will travel with Amtrak silver service from NY to Tampa before my cruise. 😀 Greetings from Austria

Thank you. We will be sharing our New York to Chicago Amtrak Economy experience this weekend. Your trip sounds very exciting as 18-19 hours was not enough for us :) safe travels and hello from Long Island NY

Great video. There is a ticketed waiting area in that station -- it's for everyone, not like the Metropolitan Lounge. There's lots of seating, restrooms, and charging stations. You can also board before the train is called by getting a red cap to take you (the red cap station is in the ticketed waiting area). I like to board early, so I always ask for a red cap. It's worth the few dollars' tip to get settled before everyone else comes down. 😊

This was a great video. The train hall is nice - I haven't had a chance to visit, but I'm sure I will sooner than later. As a one time daily commuter, I admittingly wouldn't spend enough time basking in any of the train/bus halls, but there seems plenty in here. Great for meeting colleagues/coworkers before taking the train home.
It's understandable that there's no seating anywhere, which makes it tough to come here too far in advance unless I'm grabbing some food. But it's very beautiful in the inside.

There is a waiting area that's open to anyone with a ticket. Good seating and charging stations and restrooms.

Oooh wife is so beautiful 😍 it's much more expensive but one option you guys have is to get a Family Bedroom, it has two lower beds and two upper beds. That would also get you three meals a day included. Although for the train from NYC to Chicago, I believe they have the meals made outside of the train and just heated. For ones that go west of the Mississippi, the meals are actually cooked aboard the train. 🙂
There are much longer Amtrak journeys, for example, from Chicago you can go to San Francisco (my area) which is a 2.5 day trip on the California Zephyr. 🙂
California Zephyr has chef cooked meals on the train 🙂

I would suggest taking the LIRR to Penn Station .A lot cheaper and you avoid getting stuck in traffic. The only downside is that you have take all of your luggage on the train . It's not that bad ! Don't worry about perhaps annoying people on the train ! New Yorkers are friendly as they have seen everything and anything . The fair is probably $5.00 to $6.00 each. The trains are very reliable and on time !

We live out in Long Island and the cost of Uber and LIRR was cheaper than LIRR for two adults and kids. We have tried LIRR to Penn before as well but wanted to avoid the hassle of transferring from Uber to LIRR. So this time around, this worked better.

With Amtrak ticketing book as early as possible as the rates go up as you move on in time. Unlike air travel, the rates do not decrease as you get closer to your trip. Also from Moynahan and Penn Station one can access the subway - The ACE & the 1,2,3, lines . The A or the C train ( blue ) will bet you to JFK for $2.90 . No traffic , ect. So many folks take a taxi because they are a little unsure of things. Trains and subways are cheaper and quicker . I have never felt uncomfortable doing this. Justo a little research ahead of time. New Yorkers are also friendly and happy to help out if needed.
