I’ve watched so many YT videos. Yours is the first on this topic that I actually learned new ideas from. Thank you! Seriously very helpful! And bless you ladies that aspire to be homemakers. It’s the most amazing life ever! I get to dabble in many things from homesteading to herbal medicine, all while taking care of and homeschooling my children. Thank God for hard working husbands that make it possible.

Bless you Kelli. I've been desperately trying to outsource as I live in NY. My husband and I are saving to leave.. we both grew up here and this just doesn't work out for our economical lifestyle. We are desperate to leave! I haven't checked yet, but I am praying that Azure will deliver here as we have changed our lifestyle tremendously. Also, wanted to tell you to be careful with metal straws. As the metal oxidizes over time, the straw gives off a metallic like taste and overtime, the metals in the straws can be harmful to your body / hormones. I use glass straws now to prevent this. They're also better to clean as you can visibly see what's going on inside. (haven't thought of a solution for kids yet).
Wanted to thank you for helping me as a Christian homemaker (1 yr married in Oct) with no kids. I relate to your video about homemaking without children yet. It has blessed me and helped me respond to family members about "why don't you work". It's a struggle still at times but I'm glad to learn I'm not the only one learning and maintaining a peaceful spirit filled home for my husband as well as prepare myself for when and if the Lord blesses us with children. Please thank Scott as well as he has helped my husband in many ways. Praying for Abba to continuously bless your ministry and bless you with little ones someday. 🤎

Thank you Ariela!! And thank you for sharing your testimony with homemaking, I always think it's encouraging to hear other's journeys with this. And I appreciate you sharing about the straws, I had no idea. Are your glass straws pretty strong, for some reason, I've always been concerned of them breaking, which is probably just overthinking =)
And I pray that God continues to give you wisdom and guidance on leaving NY. It's so sad when it's your home place, but totally understand wanting to set your family up in a more favorable place! Trusting the Lord will direct your steps! God bless you both and thank you for your encouragement!

I crochet dish scrubbies. There are lots of free patterns to use with the scrubby yarns 😊
I make fire ciders, too. I
Let them sit in the cabinet. I add the honey to smaller amounts as needed.
I recommend keeping a stash of paper towels, sanitizing wipes, and facial tissues for it during sickness. Especially when cleaning up after sick children.

I went years without dental insurance and a filling fell out. I ended up losing the tooth because it fell apart after a couple years but by rinsing with peroxide I was able to keep infection away until I could see a dentist. Anytime the tooth showed signs of getting irritated I rinsed with the peroxide for days and it would heal up. There were times I feared for my life having a tooth like that but the peroxide was my go to and I eventually had confidence in it. I'm not saying anyone should choose to do that above dental care...but it saved me when I needed it and I thank God for that.

I had a safety razor for a long time but I switched back, because I have to go so slow to make sure I don't nick myself with it. And as a mom of toddlers, I'm often rushing. Plus, if my kids grab it, they can really hurt themselves easily. If they grab a disposable razor, they are less likely to get cut. Also, leaving it in the shower was a no-go because it would rust and I'd have to buy a new one. And I could NOT remember to grab it before I jumped in the shower or remember to take it out after a shower. My husband does still use his, but I do not. I may switch back when my kids are older and less needy.
My 5-year-old has stainless cups with silicone tops and a stainless straw. I couldn't do silicone straws because he chews (or did chew) everything and would ruin them. Only thing is, if your kid tries chewing on the metal straws, it can damage their tooth enamel.
You also do not need dryer balls or dryer sheets AT ALL if you only buy things made of natural fabrics. Polyester is what causes static. Go over to cotton and rayon, and you don't need to use anything at all. I don't find dryer balls work very well either.

I haven’t watched the whole video yet but you have such natural beauty care and house cleaning care etc that’s amazing. I’m a sucker for candles and I know most of them are not that great for us if they’re not soy based etc something I started doing is making different stove on my stove before ppl come over or the husband comes home to fill our house with a good aroma… water vanilla cinnamon and cloves go a lonnnnnnngggg way to make it smell wonderful quickly

It’s funny I just ordered some SS straws. They’re sitting in the unopened box on the floor right now.
I’m definitely a paper towel user. I used to put them in the yard waste bin when that was part of our trash pick up. We no longer have that but I’m assuming they’ll break down in a compost pile since I know that’s what they were doing with the yard waste. We haven’t started a compost yet but it’s on the list lol. Seems the list just keeps growing more faster than the existing items get checked off!
Anyway, like the others said, you shared some great ideas, thank you! I’m very intrigued with the dental ideas. That is the one area I’m trying to wrap my head around. Slow and steady wins the race.
    Bless you sweet Kelli. 🤗

I use Dr. Ellie Phillips’ method for cleaning teeth and have seen big improvements. I suffered from gingivitis and bleeding gums every time I brushed. That has completely gone away. She doesn’t advocate the use of hydrogen peroxide, clove oil and all the other popular things so I threw them all out and I’ve had amazing results. Now, I had teeth issues so for someone that has healthy gums and teeth, peroxide is probably fine. But if you ever have a cavity or some issues down the road, I would highly suggest looking into her method. She does not advocate flossing and hasn’t flossed in 30 years. She says it’s bad for your teeth. So I have stopped that too which is my favorite part haha. 😂

You can make your own liquid soap with potassium hydroxide (koh lye), oil of your choice ( I use coconut), and water or tea and then water or tea to dilute. I don't buy body wash or hand soap anymore. I spent 23 dollars on the Koh and it has lasted 4 years and a gallon of coconut oil costs me 14 dollars from the Amish store and lasts several batches. Each batch lasts us several months.

I love the wool dryer balls. My clothes dry faster & as long as you don't have synthetic fabrics, there's no static cling. Besides the unhealthy issues with dryer sheets, I am very sensitive to all of the artificial scents. If I want a scent, I just put a few drops of essential oil on my dryer balls.

Great ideas - definitely going to implement some of these ideas. An idea for whoever can handle a bit of pain at first (no more pain after a few uses) is using an epilator (Braun brand is the best)- it pulls your little hairs from the root (here is the pain) and in time it makes hair thinner and with a thin root. For underarm - those black dots visible after a shave will disappear. I also recommend maybe to do a few wax treatments before using the epilator to get the body used to it. Afterwords, the epilator cost will be the only expense - it last for years and years. In Europe and South America epilators are used a lot more than here in US.

Metal straws can be really dangerous for kids, depending on the kid. If they walk around with it and trip, it can impale their throats/eyes. My daughter nearly knocked her tooth out when we were on a walk in our wagon and I hit a bump 😢 I switched to silicone straws for kids!

I’m so excited to find your page! In some ways you are next level for me to the tallow and salve I can learn🎉
Have you used the Landry detergent on cloth diapers?
Also if you get more cloth rags you will not feel the need for paper towels at least not in the kitchen! Check out green mountain diapers they have one that is called Birds Eye paper towel size replacements, I also have the wipe size. I have 7 children so we have a lot and I let them clean to their heart’s content and try not to worry about how many they are using and at the end of the day or morning throw them all in the wash!
Also what is going on with roses mountain herbs?! The other store I agree with you.
God bless, I’ll keep tuned in.

I have had a hard time buying Dr. Bonners also....occasionally I do but it just doesn't feel right. The bars and bottles have some really wacky stuff printed all over it and I don't agree with it. I'm not so sure I'd 100 percent agree with anyone's beliefs who make any variety of castile soap (or any product really) but that one is just boldly, in-your-face about it.

I just discovered your channel and I am enjoying your videos so much and learning so much from them! I feel like we are cut from the same cloth, so to speak! I am just 9 months into my homemaking journey, so I have lots to learn! I definitely want to try out the mouthwash recipes😊 how much coconut oil do you use for oil pulling? And do you do it right after you wake up, or do you brush your teeth first?

    • @homewithkelli
      @homewithkelli  11 месяцев назад +3

Thank you so much, I'm so glad you are enjoying them! Just a teaspoon amount is how much we use. And we brush out teeth first then oil pull... although thinking about it, I don't think it would hurt/maybe even be more beneficial to oil pull first, then brush. You may know this, but I probably should have mentioned in the video to make sure you spit it in the trash and not in the sink or the coconut oil could cause plumbing issues!

Their bottles (both old and new) were giant red flags to me. I think it was the old one that quoted Margaret Sanger. Then a few years ago, there was a very bizarre post by the Bronners son (now owner, I do believe) on the instagram. If you're curious , I'm sure it would be easy enough to find their values from looking at their social media.
