    Nice review... I like that you talk about the “feel” of the car. Also the POV and night view. Not many reviewers include that. I like the car, but that touchpad - yipes!

    We bought the 2020 Base UX. We never saw this CUV as anything more than a 1, or 2 person car. The back seats are always DOWN. So if you get perturbed by a tight back seat, then buy a big, gas guzzling SUV. This car is about being light, maneuverable, frugal and nimble. It was built with DEEP concern toward long, long term reliability and quality.
    As far as CVT hum, I never notice it, nor listen for it. Perhaps reading how all the car pundits bemoan that "horrible CVT DRONE" has your O-C issues riled up. But that's you!😂
    If nobody hadn't mentioned it, I probably never would've noticed it, nor cared...Still don't!
    I love this vehicle. It has been perfect for 33,000k miles in mountain country, attaining a 30 mpg average from day one. Darn good for where we live.
    Our last two (Lexus ES) went 220,000 and our favorite GS is approaching 300,000 miles.
    THAT'S getting your money's worth!😊

      I would take the 200 over 250h. When the hybrid battery dies it will probably cost more to replace than the gas you saved. Less tech to go wrong, more reliability.

    • @TofuProductionCinema
      @TofuProductionCinema 5 лет назад +1

      craigmak if you follow the hybrid system it’s typically upwards of ten years before the possibility of needing any servicing let alone replacement which costs about $7k at dealer. If you do it. Yourself(check out ChrisFix) you can do it for under $2k.

    I agree, I think Lexus does a better job with giving customers the "Lexus" experience across their line. Entry-level Mercedes and BMW? Not so much- they just come off as cheap. (Maybe Mercedes fixed this issue with their latest A Class sedan but their history in this regard is poor).

    Forrest, a suggestion. You call out the "cool lights at night" at 4:30 but you do not show it until later. Next time, cut in your nighttime B roll (which you show at the end) so we can see the taillights, instead of you explaining it. It's a video, not a podcast ;-)

    The UX has the same engine the new Corolla XSE sedan - 169 horses. Both have a panoramic sunroof. The infotainment system in the Corolla is better because you can actually touch the screen. I wonder what the price difference between the vehicles will be. You can get the Corolla XSE with a manual transmission also.
    Why no mention of the UX weight and 0-60 mph?

    Affordable yes but not for a lease! The lease option for a $37,000+ model as of May 2020 is for 36 months 10k yr miles with $3995 down and 720+ credit score will come out to about $626mo. You'll be paying 60% of the cars price for 3yrs. Not worth it. Remember the price shown on the commercial is for 7,500 miles per year.

    If you look at this as an suv, it’s eh... but if you look at it as like an off roady hatchback, it’s amazing, put some wheels and roof racks and a light bar on it and you’re Gucci. Plus with the hybrid you get like 40mpg everywhere. Basically a lifted CT200

    No touchscreen, no customer, Lexus shouldn't be so stubborn, they really should add touchscreens, if they don't like people using touchscreens, then they could add a hmi commander like Mazda has.. problem solved, and I'd rather go for a CX-5 Signature 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @alliejr
      @alliejr 5 лет назад

      I'm not a big fan of touchscreens, either. Underway on anything less than the smoothest road, touchscreens are also difficult and distracting. But I generally agree with you that this "mouse" interface is garbage. Forrest referenced "muscle memory" (25:35), but with this trackpad design there _can_ be no muscle memory. If it were a dial or even Acura's "screen direct mapping" pad, muscle memory could work, but it can never work where the gesture is swipping or dragging and clicking.
