THIS was tennis. Stronger competition and lightning-fast surfaces where talent triumphed over endless grinding. Where Fed was the rightful and true GOAT
@victormanuelbustamantealva6803 It was better than the junk from the past 6 years, actual variety in styles, surfaces, equipment and tons of talented players.
@victormanuelbustamantealva6803 wait one minute, Roger also was beating medvedev, zverev, thiem etc when he retired. roger had been in pro tennis for more than 20 years an he had beat every best player in that 20 years. think of it, he was winning against guys like Sampras and Agassi (yes, it was the tail end of their careers but still). it was so ong ago that the video was in standard definition and no widescreen. what were you doing back in 2000? are you as fit now as then?
@victormanuelbustamantealva6803 Medvedev who is only able to play on fast courts? Tsitsipas who is even disappointing himself in the last few seasons or maybe Thiem who is already a retired player for the last 3 years. Or maybe you want to talk about Zverev who after the injury is very fragile and exposed and still is unable to win a slam? Really a strong generation. If you put Sinner and Alcaraz out of the equation it is really disappointing
Considering these crazy shots that look impossible and were done constantly, yes, Djokovic was pretty much unbeatable for more than ten years. It's like Schumacher on the F1, you know who's gonna win without any spectacular move, while Federer was more like Senna, you know who's gonna make what seems impossible happens.
Dude that crosscourt backhand against rios from outside the gallery was out of this world. Im still shaking my head as.to how that was even possible. Unreal talent. #FedFanForever
4:42 is the point that every time I watch, I think it shouldn't even be physically possible. He is effortlessly gliding in a lateral direction to defend his backhand side, and so he hits a forehand, not an inside-out forehand but an inside-in forehand into the only angle that Nalbandian doesn't cover. The kinetic combination of all actions, with no redundant motion, to produce one precise shot into a target that no one can even think of IMO.
This half volley from the baseline was constant throughout his career. He liked to play inside the court to make points end quickly. Nadal and Djokovic took inspiration from him and implemented their version of this style. I can't forget one half volley winner against Nadal, I think it was Indian Wells 2018, maybe Miami but I think it was Indian Wells. He was in a very similar position to this point you mentioned.
then Nadal came and schooled weak era champ. Undisputed GOAT Djokovic then nailed his coffin. Forever weak era champ - went from being in shadows of Sampras/Agassi in late 90s to shadows of Nadal and Djokovic. Zero wins in grandslams for a full decade against Djokovic on any surface before weak era champ ran away retired
@@belakovacs5765 😅😅😅😅😅prime weak era champ got obliterated by teen Rafa. I don't even want to elaborate what GOAT Djokovic did to him. Roger's enemy was his lack of Tennis talent particularly that weak backhand
@@JosephDT weak era ... LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Rafa was fuckin' good on slow swamp, djoker was very good on tha slowest hardcourts ever ... and when Roger stand out from his own way (he did not hit 50-60-70+ UE - most from forehand), they lost to him. Slow courts + referees who let these two 30+ seconds between all of their serving points what was notorious illegal amd unfair to break the opponent's flow + the swan effect and fake injuries notorious unfair to break Roger's flow ... so ... in the game they were far not good enough ... Brad Gilbert wrote a book about these "tricks": Ugly winning. It is a nice one 😁
2000-2009 was the weakest era in tennis history. No wonder this man got free grand slam titles during that time. Glad Novak showed who the real GOAT is 😎

THIS WAS TENNIS agreed.
It is the same as expecting some Middle East Algerian to hit a lady out of the boxing ring and people calling that sport.
tennis os SO BORING now!!
What an absolute joy to watch. Thank you for keeping the legacy of Roger alive. The future generations will applaud your efforts.
People who say it existed a weak era during Federer Prime level are the ones who defend Djokovic winning Grand Slams against this generation 😂😂😂
lol so true. The opponents of Fed's gen (Safin, Davydenko, Soderling, Nalbandian, etc) completely put Bathroombreakovic's competition to shame

Just say it as it is they are bounch of idiots who never watch a single tennis match 🤣

2006 is the best year in tennis history
id say 2017, a bit more deverse in the winner circle
Agassi at the end of his career, Nalbandian, Roddick, Hewitt, Safin, González, Blake, Davydenko. It NEVER existed a weak era. What a generation 😢
and the already greatly ascending Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray
Haas, Robredo, Juan Carlos Ferrero, David Ferrer, Ljubicic, Grosjean...
The flick that ends the point starting at 4:02 is one of the most incredible shots I've ever seen. Tennis isn't the same without him.
His flow is far far above anyone else's. That lob against Roddick is insane 😁
The 2000s is the most dominant period in tennis history by a single player.

Only 2000-2009? He had no mercy for his opponents his entire life :)
5:04 what is that shot???
he said it in the video, half volley down the line.

But fed is very charismatic and cute ❤
