Faun is a German pagan folk band Translation, Gwydion The cold winter hindered us But now the wheel is turning I saw you in old dreams When I lay beneath the moon
So from the deepest dream I woke up by your word Along with you are woods and trees proceeding to the final fight
In the tight ban of the cold Your singing breezes from afar
Gwydion1 Gwydion
Son of the goddess, clairvoyant In the alder grove your light Unlock the winter´s catch from me Push away the night
In the tight ban of the cold Your singing breezes from afar

I have been in a multitude of shapes, Before I was unfettered. I have been a string in a harp, Disguised for nine years. I have been a tear in the air, I have been the dullest of stars. I have been a word among letters, I have been a book in my best age. I have been the light of lanterns, A year and a half. I have been a way, I have been an eagle. I have been a coracle in the seas:32 I have been a sword in the grasp of the hand I have been a shield in battle.
No, the first band with the female singers was Faun, Eluveitie was the later band and only a few members of the band. They usually have about 9 members in Eluveitie and create a perfect blend of a celtic folk band and a heavy metal band, guitars, drums, signing and screaming vocals, flutes, violin, hurdy-gurdy, mandolin, even harps and sometimes bad pipes! Incredible band!
The instrument with the crank is a hurdy gurdy. It basically works the same as a violin but the crank turns a rosined wheel across the strings instead of a bow.(And a lot of other differences I can't explain because I really don't understand them that well, lol)
If you liked this, but it's the first time you've seen a hurdy gurdy, then you've got a whole amazing world of music about to open to you! One of my favorites from Faun is Walpurgisnacht. Great song, cool video. Skáld has a song called Rún that basically comes across as the theme song of the Reachmen from the Elder Scrolls games. Speaking of Elder Scrolls, Saltatio Mortis just dropped an official ESO tie-in song that's amazing, called Pray to the Hunter. Patty Gurdy has some great stuff, both on her own and with her old band Stormseeker. "The Longing" is a great one from her. And all of this is just barely scratching the surface. SO MANY great bands doing stuff that is in that folk/folk metal range. Follow it down the RUclips rabbit hole, and you could stay down there for days before surfacing again.
It's already been said that Faun is the first band and Eluveitie the second, pronounced Helvetie. They also have a female clean singer and a hurdy-gurdy player, the hand cranked instrument. And a Piper.
@@liamberlin6413 Taken from the bands wikipedia page: "The name of the band comes from graffiti on a vessel from Mantua (c. 300 BC). The inscription in Etruscan letters reads eluveitie, which has been interpreted as the Etruscan form of the Celtic *(h)elvetios (“the Helvetian”), presumably referring to a man of Helvetian descent living in Mantua." The Helvetii were a Celtic Tribe that lived in the area which is now Switzerland, where the band is from.
The heavy band including the male vocalist is Eliveitie, the folk band including the female vocalists are Faun. Faun also has a male vocalist btw, but he didn't sing in this song.
Heilung another band which sings in ancient 1000 year old furthark language Heiliung uses dear skin goat skin human bone animal bones even the clothing is made like the ancients germanic tribes around the viking age it is a type of shamanic ritual music the meaning of Heiliung in engish is healing

Faun is the first and Eluveite was me second part of the song. The male singer with the harsh vocals is the master mind of Eluveitie.
YEah and he has an equally beautifuly voiced singer in the band with him

The singer and the band at the end is Eluveitie.
Eluveitie - Deathwalker - Live at Wacken Open Air 2019
FAUN - Federkleid (Offizielles Video)
You should definitely listen to Walpurgisnacht or Federkleid from Faun… thank me later 😉
I Love this Song i like Faun and im a big Eluveitie Fan.

Check out Faun's Walpurgisnacht.
Walpurgisnacht ist ein absolutes Meisterwerk!

Omg the child at the end is so sweet ❤😂 talk to the child we dont bother its fine 😊
The crank instrument you were referring to is called a Hurdy Gurdy. Definitely look up videos with that instrument. You will be impressed!
Michalina Malisz from Eluveitie is one of the best examples 🤘

Why is the "U" not pronounced? From which language does this band name originate

*This song is very beautiful, but Gwydeon is a real dеgеnеrаtе)*
the instrument you're talking about is a Hurdy Gurdy ☝
I love Faun!!
John, you are so positiv! I Love you.
