I had a big project with two sets of windows that were 75” each. I’d never hung curtains before and the cardboard template WORKED PERFECTLY. Both sets of windows have straight curtain rods and I did not have any drilled hole mistakes. I’m so happy I researched and watched this vid before starting the project, thanks!
No matter where I drill to put up the mounts, there is something really hard that prevents me from drilling the screw further. I've made 9 holes in my wall trying. I've tried drill close and far from the window edge. My curtains are 95in so I have to go high but I've all but given up at this point. Just going to pay to have someone do it or something. I'm beyond bummed out that I can't do something as simple as hanging up curtains.
I had this problem but used wood screws instead of the screws that came with the curtain and instead of my (probably dull) drill bit. it worked for some reason
I love the look of long curtain and I did installed some beautiful and expensive long curtains in my room. . I fallowed the rules of half inch from the floor and my curtains got burn by the heaters panel. so is you have electric old fashion heater at your place use short curtains.
All these years I thought my mother in-law hung my curtains correctly and I'd often think that something doesn't look right 🤔 And now I know! 😃 Thank you, my curtains are looking the way it should! 😉🌺
1:52 put the rod up and place a level on the top of it to check that everything is even and balanced. The little girl in the newly purchased fluffy pink long sleeved sweatshirt will be of huge help if it isn't balanced, she's up here taking balance now, after the rod is completely screwed into the wall. Little girl is sweet but this part is complete fluff, the real checking everything to be even and balanced happens before you screw it all up into the wall people

The tape measure and cardboard template is good, but you'll probably have an easier time and method by simply utilizing an RPC (Rody Precision Corner) tool, which has preset incremental holes for markings, as well as, a couple of levels (vertical and horizontal) attached to the tool itself.
For people who aren't comfortable with these things, I think the cardboard template is simpler and easier to understand for someone who is doing this for the first time. No sense in complicating it or overwhelming anyone with technical jargon.
They should be twice the width of the window? So a 40 inch window needs two 40 inch panels? Isn't that a lot more than is necessary? Looking at the lady in the video and the curtains that I have, it doesn't seem like she used that much width?
Everytime I try this, my drill gets stopped by metal behind the drywall. :( Then all hell breaks loose with holes, cracks and damage because everyone else makes it look easy.
I started drilling and hit metal. It freaked me out since I thought it was possibly electric conduit. Could be that it was just a metal bracket since it was the window corner.
@@CW86228 I had the same problem as Los Serranos, but even our power drill couldn't go through whatever it was that blocked us. Sigh - not sure what the problem is. :(
@@CW86228 Thank you for replying. :) I'm very incompetent in this area - What I meant is that we even used a wall screw (the long ones to make a hole) with a power drill to make the pilot hole, but we hit something that just wouldn't give. You're right, I think we did hit something metal.
Terrible advice in this video only checking level AFTER you've drilled through plasterboard and potentially through brick too depending on the house. Totally avoids giving any advice on use of wall plugs and drill type. Also when hanging curtains in the loop style one loop should be to outside of the bracket to anchor it in place.
I don't got this

Isn’t checking to see if it’s level after the holes are drilled a bit late?
You got this!
@@tkenyon1988 😆
I had the same thought, now I'm a have to remove everything
Just a tad bit late.. you got this
Dude writes ‘you got this!’ to a very instrumental, determinant question lol
I like how she checks if it’s leveled after the holes were already made. 👍
Is this sarcasm? I feel like it is because I was hoping that one could check before completing the drilling and such.
@@love.1995 i think so lol
#wagegap
And if the now finished project is not level, magically just make it level I guess. This video sure won’t allude to how to do that, though.

You skipped the hardest part of connecting the bracket to the wall…..it was already connected to the wall when you filmed
masonry or plasterboard, wall plugs or directly into the plaster, these are the essential questions

@@karenmills1261 I just ended up buying a separate set of hook mounts and anchors with shorter screws. It made it ridiculously easy.

Wow that cardboard idea was genius
1:56 what do you do if it is not leveled? I prefer not checking :D
A very easy video to follow I have the basic materials but can you explain the nails you used. Thanks
Carrol Lindsay Drywall anchors or “mollies”

About to attempt this for my mother. Fingers crossed i don't screw it up.
3 years after. How did it go?
4 years later how did it go
The only reason I watched it was to know which anchors to use on plasterboard and they skipped it...
I'm really confused about the cardboard bracket template. I have the cardboard amc the xacto knife but not really sure how to proceed.
What an excellent idea to draw it out first
I am having trouble figuring out how to make the template. 🙄
How do you make sure the middle bracket is even?

That is what I was thinking too. Too late to check after everything has been drilled
You're referring to a grown woman as a little girl? Disgusting
Where did you find those curtains? I like them
This simplifies things. Thank you 🙏🏽
It’s weird to level after you’ve finished installing. Should that be done before?
I think the cardboard was for that purpose too
This video is missing a step. You need to measure the amount of inches you want on the card board before just simply cutting it 🤨
They said 4 from top, 3 from side....

Not every window is the same height so how will a template help.
This doesn't explain in enough detail for those who have never done this before.
Thanks for the help, this was useful!
I can't even use d drill I borrowed from a friend to hang my curtain rods, that's why I am here

You can't just drill holes into your Gyprock.
It isn't going to holed.
Attach your curtains to wood frame is best way

concerned about curtains getting dirty when they're draped on or so close to the floor like that.

I bought a fancy stud finder that lets you know if there’s electrical wiring in the area where you want to drill

46 inches above window frame?????
4 to 6 inches above
