I've hung curtains before, but this template saved me so much time and effort. No extra holes and everything was aligned. Thank you so much!! Great Idea.
Absolutely genius. Just finished reinstalling some curtain rods and this method by far is the easiest way. Thanks for sharing this brilliant idea with us.
This video popped up in my recommended feed, and it was an absolute lifesaver! Thanks to the tips shared, we managed to hang all our curtains throughout the house in just one day. Saved us tons of time!
This is the best tip I've come across for hanging curtains! All those Lynette Jennings and Martha Stewart shows I used to watch and this never occurred to me!! This is the first time I hung curtains PERFECTLY level and no extra holes in the wall! I'm so happy! Definitely worth taking the extra time to construct a template.
So grateful to have RUclips!! Thanks SO MUCH for posting this trick!! I was about to use a ton of Command tapes, this is so much less hassle and better!!!!!!!
Thanks you two, great video, it was a complete tutorial for hanging my own curtain rod. I ran into some wood, I would suggest drilling a 1/8 hole first to see if the dry wall is hollow or has wood behind it so you don't creat a large anchor hole for nothing. Thanks for posting, Cute couple!
Great idea to make a template. I know you eventually hung your curtains, but I wish you would have shown a little footage of the end result. Anyway, I'm going to hang some curtains and will be using your method, so thank you!
Great tips and instructions, especially about drilling holes (and catching the dust!). Only quibble is I wish you’d shown a close-up of the marks on the cardboard template.
Hi thanks for your video, Is this a Ryobi 18V drill. I borrowed this one from my mum but she hasn't used it. I need to put curtain rods up, but I have a very hard piece of wood I need to drill into, i think it might be Jarrah. Is this drill strong enough to drill into it. I tried to drill into it, but it didn't go through the wood. Maybe I didn't put it on the right setting or use the correct drill bit, do you have any advice, I am new to using a drill. Maybe I need a stronger drill. Not sure yet. Thanks 😊
Yes, this is the Ryobi drill you mentioned. We've found it to be strong enough for most jobs, except for instances where a hammer drill (like for masonry) is needed or when stirring batches of tile thinset. Then we use a corded drill.
Nope! Your curtain rod should come with anchors that you can use to hang right into drywall. That will give you the flexibility to put the rod wherever you want.
Good Job! I have never wanted to use anchors. Consequently, I have pilot holes all over my walls where I used a stud finder to find studs that, of course, are never equal distances from the window frame. So frustrating. I have hated hanging curtains always. I will give the anchors a try even though my curtains are heavy. Any suggestions for the type of anchor to use with heavy curtains? Thank you for a great video.
Toggle bolts if you're doing professional work for someone else, they'll last a lifetime. However, in your property, you can get away with the plastic anchors.
I think she can explain better than him LOL. Would you tell us the size of the cardboard? my window look almost exactly like that, same distance to the ceiling. I had to bring my curtain rod from the old house to the new house so I don't have that anchor nail anymore. How do I pick the right size of the anchor?
The template is a cool little trick, but you need to make a new one everytime you need a different size location to mark. There is a new tool on the market that solves this problem, called the Rody Precision Corner.
With the ceilings and windows not being perfectly level due to the age of the house, this was a safer way to make sure they related to each window exactly how we wanted.

Glad it helped!

Why did I never think of a template?! I'm getting ready to hang whole-house curtains and this should save me a ton of time. Thank you for posting!
Because some people are adept at synthesizing information and finding solutions, some are not and rely on following directions.

I would have liked to see the finishes work. However, thanks for the tip.
This was so easy. I hung 2 curtains rods so fast. Thank you. Now i feel confident to do the entire house. Woo hoo

Great idea!! I wish I had seen this video years ago, it would've made life so much easier.
I wish I had seen this yesterday when I did mine, but I have three more to go. Thank you both for posting this. God bless!
This is awesome. Just spent much less time and brain power hanging my drapery rods than I normally would have! Thanks!
Genius! Oh my gosh! So happy I found this.
absolute genius!!! wish I could watch you finish
The best curtain rod hanging video on RUclips! I watched waaaaay too many. So logical. I’m going to hang mine now. 👍
OMG that is so clever. Thank you for sharing.
Helpful hack, thank you. Oh and love the socks 'n slippers... 😉

Great idea! Thank you for the template idea!
Thank YOU! This is just what we needed to know.

I followed the template method and I got my huge 3 bracket curtain rod completely straight! Thank you!!!!
Thank you this method helped me so much.
Thanks I’m going to follow you and brave this project!
Genius idea! Thanks for sharing!
Well done video - love the idea of a template.
It would have been nice to see the completion, with the curtains up.
Very smart idea!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Awesome idea‼️ Thank you so much. 😁

Thanks for sharing your tips!!!
Aww, wanted to see how the curtains in place looked. Otherwise, thanks, template idea looks good :)
Very helpful! Thanks for posting that video : )
The template is a great idea! 💡

Templates r key to getting your symmetry just right and saving time. Well done
I would love to see the end result with drapes up:)
You can see a final video tour of the space here: ruclips.net/video/n9dBqPbfgCA/видео.html
Nice idea. You can use for one side then use laser level if you want other side perfect level.
Great & informative video. Thank you!
i have very big window and heavy curtain. Can you show me how to do it ?❤
Straight to the point, thank you!
This is a great idea!
hey the template trick does work and did make it alot faster thank 👍👍👍
Man I been doing it the long measuring tape way. Lol thanks
Are those pretty brackets the ones that came with the rod you link?
Mine were done in a small hole just like that, rode and curtains were too heavy and ankers came out. patching the wholes and im going to go into studs
No comments? i thought this was ingenious!
Great video - thank you so much!
Seriously brilliant! Thank you!
How do you know what size anchor
We were using screws and anchors that came with the curtains, but you can also find sets that are sold together for a perfect match.

So simply yet so brilliant
I have a template too but I'll place brackets 4 inches from window and 5 inches up from window frame.
What’s the size of the drill head? We might drill too big
Nice!
Thanks
Thanks for the tip, dont we need to find stud ?

Can you give dimensions of the cardboard template?
Thank you so much
Yes! Amazing trick
What if u hit steel beam
Genius!
What drill is this?
It is a Ryobi Cordless Drill & Driver: rstyle.me/+u8IqFJwSYXoRdcNBHwoynA (affiliate link)
And the same rule applies for a center bracket I presume?
Yep, just be sure to measure for center in the middle of your window frame. :)
The step you did with your level, is called plumb. Vertical is plumb horizontal is level.
But isn’t u need to find studs to hang heavy curtains?
Perfect 👌
The curtains should come with a template.
Awesome.
Nice
anchor doesn't go in with hammer, because it's plastic,
10 inches of the window molding? That's a lot of inches. I since other videos where 4 inches is the basic level.
Ohhh show us how it looks.

Sheet, just use a laser level and call it a day

Cool video but next time show the results at least to show it really worked.
👍❤
