Also, my brother and I used to do something like this as kids. It was called “left hand”. Since we were both right handed, we could only hit each other with our left hand while holding our right hands. It probably looked as stupid as it sounds.
Look up Dambe (spelling may be off) African combat sport where they wrap one hand in rope and only use that side for strikes. I feel like I remember it as they hold each other’s unwrapped hands and just swing at each other. But i might be misremembered. Either way it was pretty entertaining
It's as though this was a sport that an entire 80s dystopian movie was based on, one where the fighters would beat each other to death with a chance of getting up the social ladder. In the end of course, all the fighters band together to overthrow the regime, with podium locked arm bars.
I love a good dust-up just as much as the next man MMA, boxing, college wrestling, etc. but this is the most negligent combat sport i’ve ever seen. An armbar is a grappling submission to get an opponent to tap by applying pressure but an armbar correctly applied on an opponents elbow, who cannot move, on the edge of a table with 200+ lbs. of dead weight isn’t a submission that’s an immediate break.
My sister and I would fight all the time as kids and she was bigger than me. So I would use gorilla warfare and hit and run. My father got sick of it and taped our left hands together and told us to get it out of our systems and fight. As we were beating the crap out of each other the church bus showed up. The driver who is now the pastor still over 30 years later tells that story. He said he had never seen anything like that before or since. I’m going to have to get him to see this. Sorry it’s such a long one but I hope you got a chuckle out of it.

For some reason, it makes me want to see them play chess. Hehe literally something like Harry Potters magical chess, but with people actually fighting in MMA format when they are about to take something off the board. And gradually losing focus on game as they go through multiple 30 second exchanges thought 30 min long chess match.
Further, the last exchange should be when one party gets checkmate, and should last full minute. Imagine the sheer desperation of people knowing that if they won't KO opponent in 1 minute, they will lose the match anyway. And some insane strategies, like losing as many pawns as possible and try to go for KO/TKO instead during exchanges. Alternatively trying to play chess well, and mount pressure on opponent to try to go for KO in these mini-rounds. I think it would be much more agressive than regular MMA fights that are often very measured and tactical. Overall fight time would be much longer than in any MMA match, but it would be streched over even longer period of time...
Combining MMA, SRPG-style turn-based combat a-la Fire Emblem or X-Com, and chess movement mechanics... Honestly, even if it only lasted for one match or two, I would watch tf out of that, it's dastardly ridiculous.
X-Arm is still missing something.... Hmmm. What about multi member teams instead of one on one. Then add in football to the mix. If your team has the ball, you'd have to drag your opponent along with you and they could literally fight over the ball. If anyone gets knocked out, the attached opponent would spend the rest of the match dragging around their dead weight. Just Ballpark suggestions so far, but we could be on to something.

There should have been a lever (or a steering wheel for the sake of safety) in the middle of the table. Who manages to flip it to one side, wins. That way it can actually be judged and it also allows for interesting strategies to be developed by the contestants.
Most INTENSE thing I've seen in modern day fighting besides the original MMA fights from the early 80's that was called "TUFF GUY" and it started here in Southwestern Pa. I had the privilege and honor to work with one of the title holders Dave "ROAD CREW" Jones. There was a special documentary on SHOWTIME about it. If there was 10 guys fighting that night and you were one of them you had to beat EVERYONE one at a time. You beat the first guy they'd send in the next until you either won by beating everyone one of the other 9 contenders or you got beat and I mean BEAT 🤜👊🤛.
The way to settle grave offenses between the common spanish people 200 years ago, was to bury the two disputants to the knees and arm them with clubs...and they had to beat the opponent to the death... There were other different kind of duels involving blankets and folding knives.
The moment the match starts the arm westling aspect of this competition gets thrown out the window. Its just a couple of guys bound together with their left hands and to the table pummelling each other. Why do they even bother with the arm wrestling in the first place is beyond me.
I think the sport would've done better if they would've tossed the arm wrestling concept all together and just let it be what it is, which is just 2 guys beating the shit out of each other tied arm to arm. You actually get quite a bit of leverage over someone when tied together like that, plus not being able to really get away from your opponent could defiantly add a interesting change from the norm but shoehorning in arm wrestling made it make less sense because not only was there NO arm wrestling was actually happening but also if have the option to punch your opponent during an arm wrestle it immediately becomes so much of a better strategy that there's no point in pretending anyone is actually going to go for the pin.

There were other different kind of duels involving blankets and folding knives.
Thanks for sharing this strange find.
The moment the match starts the arm westling aspect of this competition gets thrown out the window. Its just a couple of guys bound together with their left hands and to the table pummelling each other. Why do they even bother with the arm wrestling in the first place is beyond me.
That was different. Ridiculousness to the extreme.
