    You're brave to try ninja for the first time at a backyard course like this! They are always so sketchy after a couple years of sun and rain. If you're ever in northern CA and want to try something a little bigger, I run a huge indoor ninja gym - drop me a message and we can train! It's the one in this magnus vid: ruclips.net/video/LIcbm_NbOTI/видео.html

      This was my first build. Started it last year. There aren't many ninja gyms available so I decided to build my own in my backyard.... Not bad so far, considering.

      @@lelandferguson1164 OH man, I didn't see how my comment would read from your perspective.. I'd probably be offended too. I truly meant no disrespect! I started training at homebuilt backyard courses too (Campbell's in Santa Cruz, Huewe's in Clovis), and I still love that grassroots feel. It just a reality of outdoor wood builds that they will degrade; no fault of your own. Your setup is great - such a huge volume of obstacles in a compact space, and much safer than most with all the padding you have down. Please let me extend the same offer to you: if you're ever up in the bay, drop me a line to come by any time. And actually I'd love to train at your gym too next time I'm in SD, if you'd have me.

    • @ianbroadbooks1429
      @ianbroadbooks1429 4 года назад +8

      I just went to a ninja gym for the first time last weekend. I’ve been climbing for two years. Days are the wrong units to measure how long ninja obstacles take to learn. Months or years would be more apt. These weren’t even a lot of the hard obstacles. On top of strength necessities, there’re huge technical elements as well

      An average climber should be able to do most of the obstacles. Where climbers struggle is in the dynamic obstacles

    @n3v3r1s4 4 года назад +22

    As someone who has trained gymnastics as a kid but then stopped, and got very sedentary before I started getting back into basic shape again in recent years, I loled throughout this video 😂
    See, while your strength is very impressive, it's interesting to see how dynamic movement isn't something you're used to (yet), in fact in many of these situations your instinctive reaction is more climbing technique (must tense that core for stability and energy conservation whenever feet arent landed!), but you struggle how to swing and lache and stuff like that (and it reminds me of how I've tried some extremely basic gymnastics tumbling recently, and promptly developed a rhomboid spasm so, you know, very relatable =P ). It's definitely a very different type of technique, it's just a matter of learning it (your basic strength is definitely good enough for these specific obstacles at least), I have no doubt you can do it if you put your mind to it hehe.

    • @lelandferguson1164
      @lelandferguson1164 4 года назад +1

      Yes it's basic gymnastics training at the core level, but most of us as adults have forgotten what it's like to swing naturally and properly.

    Another average climber here who has also tried these few times. Most of this stuff becomes way easier if you just go much faster and/or use your momentum more. You come off as some badass showing off how strong you are, but it is actually become you completely suck at using momentum and doing them the easy way :D
    Like the devil steps, if you just go as fast as you can you are strong enough to do bunch of laps there in a row lol. Or with the rings, I think you are actually strong enough to do the hardest variation there which would be crossing aye.
