Me too! It was such a memorable experience!! Guys, Paul also coached rockentry and be sure to check out the video here: ruclips.net/video/r-c4XCBNYY0/видео.html.
Le mec est un amour en plus
The route you’re climbing at 0:09. Is that Pizza Dick at Primo?
Dude you are literally the most positive coach ever I lost count how many times you said "very good!" lol
Hey Paul that's a sweet crewneck sweater! Who makes it if you don't mind sharing?
Me: Damn that left foot looks so minimal and slippery...
Paul: *stands on it with his flat vans*
Haha I helped film that day and Paul definitely crushed some climbs in his vans
Haha, rockentry and I were so baffled by how Paul did it.
I mean, they're Nike's, but yeah. Skate style shoes.
Yeah, that's one of the first things I noticed. He's such a beast that he can do it in his Nike flats, what most of us struggle to do with proper climbing shoes.
So glad I got to climb with you! Such a fun time:)
So glad to meet you in person and see you crushing difficult climbs in the front row seats!
You’re a beast Lizzy!
Nothing like watching someone send your proj in tennis shoes 😂
Exactly 😆🤣😆.
Paul's advice on slab:
Step on volumes with toes and maximize the contact area
Micro-adjust the foot position to stand higher on volumes
Pody position + balance > Both hands gripping a hold
Paul's advice on overhang:
Match hands to avoid big dynamic moves if possible
Take long rests between attempts to make them count
Yep, these are the 5 tips I learned from Paul that day!
Additionally on overhang: USE. THOSE. FEET.
I too am guilty of doing this, relying on my arms too much and tiring myself out way ahead of time by not taking a few seconds to figure out where my feet will go during the climb.
that sinking feeling when you know you can do it but you no longer have the hands to make it for today and it's gonna have to wait.
I've still surprised myself sometimes even when feeling like that. If you figure out ways to use your feet more and stay more stable then you have less sudden load placed on your hands and can still conquer things (depending on what you're trying to do of course)
That’s exactly how I felt haha 😂.
Paul's encouragement is amazing. I'll send all my problems in plastic, rock and life from it! 🤣
No joke, I performed way better than I expected myself to when Paul was there both times. It's definitely a privilege to be coached by him!
@@GeekClimber I can only imagine! Sick climbing and great video. Thank you.
The guy’s climbing in Van’s like it’s nothing
I've been binge-watching every video with Paul Robinson coaching people and he seems like the most wholesome and supportive guy ever.
Paul Robinson is an insane coach. I love watching these videos
i was really surprised when i saw rockentry filming, so cool that you guys all get to train together!
Great video! Love the instruction here! I would hire Paul just to say "Ok, come on, good" while I climb
Me too 😆.
That was a great coaching session. I learned so much from both Paul's videos. Can't wait to go try what I learned at the gym.
It's crazy how much more it is for us to learn! The learning never ends haha.
What an awesome teacher! 👏
Great Content! Thanks!
great to see your progress and the tips from Paul!
I think I started to plateau a little bit and it was very timely to have the opportunity to work with Paul again!
I love the boost he gave you at 8:02 😂 Paul is so supportive!
Paul is definitely the most amazing professional that I I have ever worked with!
Awesome session!🤘 Micro-adjustments: something I have thought about quite often and makes so much sense when on volumes; definitely see the results from your foot placement! Nice! The cave climb, you had it! 🙃 Great efforts. Probably a more common practice that we want to get back to the climb vs a long (5 min+) rest? Hmmm. Will try it. Still funny watching Paul in sneakers casually climbing. 😆 Lizzy is so fluid and well balanced on the slab. 👍
Your videos are really great for learning to climb. Thanks!
You’re welcome! Glad you find them helpful!
Trifecta: Rockentry, Lizzie and Geek all in one video!
The dream team! I will try my best to make more of this kind of collab happen in the future!
Geek Climber great news! Awesome to see everyone in each other's videos
Aw dude that’s awesome nice to see people learning in action
Paul is so positive ! It's actually contagious !
cant wait for the next video with the training plan
Great development work on that overhang
What a great coach/teacher!
I just rewatched the old episodes. What a coincidence. Really happy.
Haha, me too. I am so happy that I can show improvement!
Had to rewatch it to see rockentry's camera setup! Oh yeah and the climbing technique too :)
Little jealous over in TN.
I am super grateful to have the opportunity to be coached by Paul!
super cool. thank you!!!
Glad you like it!!
I like how Paul does the slab problem with this skate shoes on. Even tougher than old mountain men who at least had their mountaineering boots.
I cannot comprehend how he managed to step on the small foothold with street shoes, haha.
Good job !
cheering you on from behind my laptop screen at 4:30 while sipping on my morning coffee haha awesome man
I would love to be friends with literally anyone in this video such great people
my man, this is very inspiring
It feels great to improve after all these years haha.
Loved this! And loved the Lizzie pop-ins :)
Lizzy is awesome! Super strong as well!
great instructor!
Love it. That’s the gym I climb at - Evo in Louisville, CO
"Wow, that red problem looks an awful lot like the one at Evo that has been kicking my... IT IS THAT STUPID RED ONE!"
I was just at this gym a few days ago! I was visiting my friend in CO and was originally intending to check out a gym in Boulder, but decided to go to Evo instead. I really liked it there. I'm visiting again in the summer, I can't wait to show my daughter the kid's area in the gym.
And I see the yellow V5 that I really liked at the 6 minute mark. :-D
This gym is truly incredible. I wish I could've stayed longer in CO!
Hurry up and post the training video. Super excited to see what he had in store for you
I promise you I will finish editing the training video next week! So stay tuned!
Great coach
Pretty funny and good tips!
Gooood. Veeeerrry gooood.
amazing!!!!!!
Rock climbing/bouldering looks like it'd be a great exercise and fun. I know you're a SWE, i'm a EE. Love problem solving, puzzles, and this is just a real life puzzle with fitness
超細心且正向的教學耶,這教學的過程看起來超舒服的 真棒
@rockentry on the B cam. nice
"You can do this, oh he's dead" haha.
I wish I had a coach like this locally, great stuff.
Good stuff. On the cut loose after the dynamic move to the jug early in the steep problem, you seemed to be searching for where to put the feet back on, even at the last attempt. You could have cut down the time without feet on with a clearer action for that specific bit, it seemed to me.
You are exactly right haha.
I have my first bouldering competition in a couple days, so I’m trying to study up on technique!!
Saw your comment late but I hope you did well in the competition!
Thanks! If you score by points, technically I got fewer points than everyone else, *but* I tried all of the problems, even the ones a couple grades above my level and I get to work on them this week at the gym, so I’d say it’s a big win for me! ☀️
damn Paul's coaching is next level
Hallo, Geek and Paul. Greetings from Prague. Thank you for your supurb video. I don´t know, what is your situation about posibility of climbing indoor in the U.S., but here in the Czech rep. everything is closed because of the COVID and even as a beginner I have a very deep withdrawal of a climing... Maybe if I sometime fly to the Colorado, I know where to go...:-D
ok this is rly helpful. thx
Glad you find it helpful!
Damn, Paul seems like a very nice guy. Also how tf does he climb and use those footholds using his Vans?!?!
Honestly vans are not bad for climbing. Obviously nowhere near as good as climbing shoes, but they're flat, super light, and the rubber on the bottom is pretty grippy. There are worse shoes to climb in.
Lizzy’s channel rules. Always thought it was a hidden gem.
I think rockentry and I successfully convinced her to come back to RUclips!
Geek Climber for sure😄 thank you Joel!
You are one of the coolest guys I watch and I thoroughly appreciate you. How do you get into climbing?
Visit your local bouldering gym, rent some shoes, and try all the easy boulders :)
Just have fun.
Riley Walton The best way to get into climbing is to just start. Some gyms will have an “intro to climbing” class. If you can find a gym that offers one I recommend
I got into climbing because of my college hiking club back in Asia. Climbing was so niche back in the days that it was just part of the hiking club, haha.
Geek Climber that’s super cool! Yeah there’s like one place to climb where I live and it’s a couple hours away, so climbing where I am is difficult
please always remain so humble, genuine and down to earth
Ok so what i mostly learn out of this video, is that i dont take enough rest
Zeinfeim Reldu'ulthaarn takes about 3min for atp via phosphagen and about 5min for atp via glycolysis to recover, though atop those are accumulated byproducts thus the energy may be there after 5min but harder to utilize.
@@Cacovangor ngl, i didnt understand half of what you said, english isnt my main language, and there are words in your comments i dont see enough in day to day life to be accustomed with them
Zeinfeim Reldu'ulthaarn my apologies. The two ways you make your muscles work take about 3 and 5 minutes to come back, but over a climbing session you cannot make as good use of your muscles even after a 5 minute rest.
Haha, it seems so obvious but so many of us are guilty of making this mistake!
@@Cacovangor thanks a lot for simplifying the english lvl of the comment !
Ok so yea even with break and 5m rest it is harder and harder to use a muscle as well over the span of a session
But thats common sense isnt it ?
It would be strange to be able to FULLY recover just whenever during one session aha
Thanks for the info none the less, but i stil need to rest more, 5m is still better than 2 ;)
Taking breaks is the hardest one for sure xD
Really easy to get in the zone and just go to the wall time and time again
Totally agree with you! It’s so obvious yet we all make this mistake.
I like this videos
he did the slab in sneakers :D
Wow, that was amazing. Lizzy was 'flagging' when she demo'd at the beginning?
She’s too strong!
lol i was so confused I thought I watched this exact video yesterday but it was rockentry
PharmB
He’s in this video. You can see him filming at one point in the background. It looks like a collaborative shoot.
V4/6c+/7a is my current working at grade.
Keep on climbing!
When Paul sent the slab in his sneakers 🤣💀
I wish Paul was my coach
I need Paul to teach me 😂🧗♂️
I could watch Lizzy climb for hours
You gotta check out her channel then!
I want some of those Nike climbing shoes!! LOL
I thought it was quite funny that on the steep wall on the last try your moves were quite messy and all I heard was "Good, good, Perfect! YEAHH good" :p
Gotta change your channel name from Geek Climber to Buff Climber soon!
is that rockentry with the camera at 4:00?
Lizzy!!😍😍
Is awesome!
gonna start training in tennis shoes...
😆🤣😆
one thing he forgot to mention: be faster, dont hesitate!
hesitation magnifies gravitation
I think you are actually right!
Everybody: don't do it
Geekclimber: ok I'll do it
Ehat is the paul robinson's shoes?
that camera guy looks so familiar lol
MUST BE NICE TO BE LIGHT MARCOS !!! Lol
It's been 1.5 years O_O
Time flies like crazy, man!
Couldn’t you try a heel hook (on your right hand) on that white boulder, to avoid the big swing ?
I’m not sure as I’m not watching this on a big screen 😅
Knee up to your face and leg extended sideways...
that's what I thought. I feel like he's still looking strong whenever he comes off too, I think the problem there is psychological and not physical. The holds are all so juggy and so you can just use your legs to generate force
rockently is the camera man?!!!
EDWALDO!!!!!!!!!!
Paul Robinson: good, good good good good good good good good good good good good good good
😆🤣😆
this is how many times paul told: "VeRy GoOd"
👇
Drinking game: take a shot every time he says “good”
6:09
How much do you weigh?
Around 145 lbs.
6:08 it is wednesday, my dudes
6:09 🤔
Let me write a few notes, as a climbing coach.
Slab boulder's first step probably could be a right foot and left foot do an inside flag, this way you don't have to change feet.
On the video you did this problem only once, then change to the other boulder. I would recommend to repeat a few times, because the rythmn speed, precision, flow of the first try is usually not perfect.
On the second one you could have been faster at the last try, if you memorize better beta. You climbed quite slow and hesitate about some moves which are seconds on the wall. Think about the tempo of Adam Ondra!
Hope my words were usefull!
Great video, as always!
Keep climbing!
Great video but seeing him do it in trainers is a little depressing (very impressive)
What happen to his haircut
My barber screwed it up for this one.
Lizzy is such a good climber and clearly has the optimal genetics for climbing. I wish I could be so tall and skinny 😂😂
Tall is surprisingly unimportant. Very few pro climbers are tall. Skinny is just nutrition. A huge amount of climbing is good technique. I’ve seen small children and fat old men (fewer of those) climb routes where I thought I was lacking in strength.
The chick is hot!
bro the eq on your audio sounds pretty terrible on this video. Way too much peaking.
We spoke too loudly because of the background gym music. My next update video will definitely have the audio improved.
So weight on the heels....
For stepping on volumes!
stop yelling in my ear --- educational video though for sure
We spoke louder than usual because of the background music. Will improve the audio quality for the next one!
The same Paul Robinson who lies about his climbs lmao
?
Kajetan Mlynarczyk look into it if your curious
