Hi, I'm new to this channel. Very interesting content. What is the clicking for? What does it do for the bird?
It lets them know the exact thing that is being rewarded. Clear communication of THAT right there what was done in that millisecond is what the handler wanted. Then you can give them a treat to reward. Beginning stages of training are just associating click with reward. Without the clicker there may be times when you are too slow to get out the treat and the bird (or any animal you clicker train as it can work with just about any social animal species) might no longer be doing the action and get rewarded for the wrong thing. It just makes it clear communication.
I HIGHLY recommend you go to the channel and binge watch EVERYTHING! You’ll find lots of videos on target training and why the clicker is important.

It's the bridge before giving the treat. The click signals that the behavior was done correctly. As long as you click at the correct moment the behavior is done then the parrot learns to do the behavior consistently. And a treat will follow.

What do you recommend for training treats?
In general tiny pieces of nuts or seeds. There’s a video on their channel showing you how to find your bird’s current (because it does change) favorite treat.
You can put different treats in your hand & see what the parrot chooses.
Does your bird not listen to you 😂😂😂 I have a cockatoo so he really would rather not.
