Kirstie is brilliant with her ideas and I agree a new bedroom was not what was needed "Now". They could always do the Loft transformation in 5-6 years time and have a huge Master suite and bathroom installed. That would make the house perfect.
I grew up in a house half that size. We managed… sort of… with the 7 of us… that said good luck to everyone who can afford to buy something where no one feels crushed in.
Yes but when done well it adds value and you recoup the expense in equity or resale. Historic properties had different priorities and lifestyles to accommodate. It is often inevitable if you want to grow in a property and don’t want to move. Which is also expensive.
Yes to this! I dislike the gaping kitchen layout, a table would be a perfect intermediary surface during preparation, and good to be close to the food and sink while eating with little kids
I agree. Having the sitting space facing those sliding doors would be great; you can enjoy the view. It also gives a separate area to entertain guests and there is even enough space to add 1 or 2 armchairs as extra seating.
I have only just seen this one, must have missed it when it was on the TV but although it's totally transformed a property that was disjointed the table would be so much better positioned in the kitchen and then the sunshine and light would be in the seating area. The other thing to consider is that with the settee being there the children will be too close to pots and pans and things that go burn in the night 😆 🤣 I bet they have sold up and moved on now anyway so all hyperthetical
Annie Lark I don't think they acted spoiled at all. There is nothing pretentious about that house, either before or after. And that couple and the whole family seemed very sensible and kind.
I don’t like the sofa in the position it is, you’d have to keep the kitchen immaculate for it not to feel like you are sitting in your breakfast/dinner dishes. Highly impractical.
Not remotely impractical. In my country nearly all homes are open plan with kitchen, dining and lounge as one huge room. I would find separate pokey rooms claustrophobic.
Oh yes, the classic older British house layout with the toilet just off the kitchen (before) and now just off the dining/sitting area. And probably costing like half a million. Got to love it. But it was an improvement. Also it's good form to date things, C4. Little note on description saying when it was broadcast, when the build was done.
It's really good when they have little kids actually. The parents would be spending most of their time downstairs, cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, etc. While they would watch over their little kids taking bath without having to goes up and down stairs. They only goes upstairs when they sleep.
They are able to socialize while preparing meals and keep an eye on kiddos. They were already spending most of their time in the 2 rooms, now they can be more comfy. Formal living rooms are not how today's young families live. Parents often share meal prep.
@@serenakoleno9338 sure, most people have a combined space for kitchen, dining and living room. However, I've never seen (and I hope i never will see) a sofa that's pointing directly at the stove. Looks awkward. Especially that their house is not a tiny city apartment with 40m2 and not much choice of where to put things.
Convert that loft into a parents bedroom (if you can afford to do it) and this frees up all three-bedrooms downstairs for the kids for now. Then redo the room open up downstairs. Then save up for the loft bedroom for the teenager daughter in a very few years.
I like the space created but feel the seating would be better facing the doors and the table in the kitchen. I wouldn't want little ones chasing around in the kitchen when I am cooking
That built in cupboard was lovely. What a loss. I hate the remodel, and I love modern design. It's horrid. They lost the architectural treasures and replaced it with stupid stuff like a couch in the kitchen. Ridiculous.

That is not a particularly big house and in the UK, kitchens are traditionally in an enclosed room at the back of the house. Some people build a back extension to house a much bigger kitchen with dining space. American style open plan is not really a thing.
That house has more than enough room for a family of 5. But most people today are incredibly spoiled and entitled. They have itchy fingers to spend money they don't have... Consumerism at its "finest"...
I’m struggling to see where that $20k went apart from the doors. That flat pack kitchen is only $1,200.max yet could of redesigned the layout and put an island in, even a mobile one.
@@Kevin-sm8pn Building regulations & surveyors. What this show never says is that you need them. You can’t just knock an inside wall down which affects the structure of your property & your neighbour without getting permission from the local council (government) and you will need to employ a surveyor. This affects your insurance as you have to inform your company of changes made to the property.
The kitchen is ugly. Collectkon of nooks with a too low fridge and no table. The dining table needs to be in the kitchen and well design living room where the new big windows/doors are. Bad interior design but can be easilly corrected.
Wow...there are so many families sleeping in cars cos of shortage of affordable housing and these people own their own 3 bedroom home in a beautiful area and they act so spoilt 😩😭😭😭
Agree. If they got rid of the stupid plastic toys. Which we all know kids get fed up with in no time. If they invested in wooden toys on shelves, they could rotate toys when needed.
Great to see Kirsty and Phil doing Love it or List it! They are multi talented, indeed!

Well done to Kirsty. I never would have thought of doing that. She really has the vision.
The sofa in the kitchen and the table near the toilet 🫣.
Wonderful!
That’s a really nice spot. I wouldn’t move either. Two kids could share for crying out loud.
Great use of the space they had! it works for them for now and that is what counts!
I grew up in a house half that size. We managed… sort of… with the 7 of us… that said good luck to everyone who can afford to buy something where no one feels crushed in.
Its a lovely reno that gives them what they need for right now, the rest like the sofa is cosmetic. 10/10
The house was great to start with. But Id be happy to live in the reno.
me too! the ground floor living space is gorgeous with ample natural lighting and views !
Better layout, yes, but counter space is still almost nonexistent in the kitchen.
After location, layout is one of the most important factors when buying a property. It’s extremely costly to change.

They spent the money in the right place to increase the value and sellability.
I'd rather have a kitchen table in the center of the kitchen and another living space by the massive doors, but that's just me.
Yes to this! I dislike the gaping kitchen layout, a table would be a perfect intermediary surface during preparation, and good to be close to the food and sink while eating with little kids

I think the space isn't enough for 5 people to sit near the kitchen.

I think a kitchen island would be nice
They just need to sort out the attic and make it an area for them or the kids to play/ relax etc.
A lovely transformation.
Not much to look at outside still, but Kriste hit a home run here ! She has a gift for easing everyday family living
Lovely, love the kitchen and patio doors.
Lovely episode, great series ' Icecream for the mind'!................. Very good foir 'chilling out'............ Thank you
I liked the bathroom better before...

Perhaps it's just me but I'm not sold on the sofa in the kitchen 😅 like.. Why would you like to sit there looking at the stove?

Stunning!!!
Terrible, why would you put a sofa at the kitchen? Hideous.
Amazing change

Convert the loft, yes BUT move the ground floor bathroom into one of the bedrooms freeing up that space for a bigger and better kitchen.
Open plan is ridiculous The heating costs, cooking smells.
There was no tea in those cups 😂
Its a NO for me although the basic idea of opening space by combining 2 rooms is a must and gr8 idea.

This is a lovely family. Why do you hostile trolls trouble yourselves watching a program only to leave a bitter, jealous remark?
Needs a moveable kitchen island in the space.
Great job!
Is the paint child friendly ie wash friendly
What's the scores on the Doors Phil
Sofa in kitchen ? Why ? I'd have listed it right away .

Good Day!
Why do they always pretend-drink tea or coffee on these shows?
Surely someone can make them a nice cuppa for the chat at the end…
Never. buy a wooden toilet seat.
I wonder where they are now🤔
Wonderful renovation.
The old dining was much nicer.
Like I love looking at listings online and even in Hugh houses the kitchen is shoved into a corner, why

4700 was on structural alterations
Labor? lol

They "act" nothing of the sort. Cease with the ugly bitterness, be happy for someone for goodness sake.
