I love when Kirstie says "she's more shocked by the red socks (that are on Phil's feet)." I love watching the recent and older episodes of Kirstie and Phil :) !!!
I am bowled over that the gorgeous Prestwick house was rejected. Bowled over. But différent people want différent things. The house Catherine and Andrew picked was the best they were shown. Personally, I would have left it as it was, not being a fan of big open plan living spaces; I like the intimacy of separate rooms.
Coming from Manchester myself - that couple who are adamant about a house in Didsbury highlights one of the major problems with many young people today. They seem to want to aim for the top, even if it means potentially putting themselves in financial trouble later down the line. Now in July 2023 with interest rates being what they are people will understand where I’m coming from. What has happened to the days where you started modestly, and worked your way up……I did 5 moves before I bought my final house.
It isn't rocket science to make the LEAST number of moves from first house to forever house as possible. 99.9% of the time the only way to do that is starting in a smaller, older house in right location and just improving and extending in situ as your needs grow. One should not AIM to make 5 house purchases if at all they can avoid it! Each move is around 5% of the purchase value on average, deposit not included...!
That townhouse @ 25:00 was absolutely beautiful and had everything you need - garage, off road parking 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms!!! Wish I could buy that now lol
Kirsty said the house was in "very good order". The vendor was under no obligation to reduce the price, but did so as a very kind gesture after meeting them [being a kind person, showing loyalty to first buyer as not wanting to cause disappointment]... I Think they now see the vendor as a soft target, it is definitely another try on... when people want to exploit for whatever reason, they harden their attitude to justify their action: amazing how quickly revert from gratitude at displacing the first buyer, and having an unexpected $1750 knocked off the price, to now expecting more [with a non-explanatory "needs work" excuse]. This is why we have agents, some people are just too nice and are easily pushed around, espec the vulnerable elderly. Its a shame the vendor opened a pandoras box by offering to part refund, when no need to do so.
Seriously- I’ve stayed with friends in different states around the USA those houses are like dolls houses- not every one lives in large houses, nor is everyone property obsessed- a large house doesn’t guarantee happiness. I sold my three story, five bedroom, 3 living room house and purchased a small two bedroom cottage, living off the grid in the bush (forest) l am the happiest l have ever been.
thats really cheeky: offered vendor 231 to outbid the other party the vendor was loyal to. when vendor met couple he kindly reduced the price, when he didnt have to. NOW the couple are expecting a further reduction in price... if i was the vendor i would kill the deal, theyve got a nerve expecting for a second reduction in price... they see an opportunity "to take advantage" of an overly kind person.
This comment is a bit unfair. The party the vendor was loyal to put in a lower offer as well - who knows it may have been low for the exact same reasons, i.e. the issues pointed out in the survey. There's no taking advantage of anyone - you offer what the house is worth and maybe the vendor should have disclosed the issues before accepting the offers, knowing they'd have to re-negotiate?
I agree. They outbid the other offer only to get a reduction in price for no reason. After inspection, they wanted another reduction. Once was more than enough.
I had all my insides removed 15 years ago,so I totally understand and agree with you .I'm now not on any meds and have been so much happier well done bee ,please do not feel guilty as you could not help yourself live every day with smiles .you are not alone .xx
that's why so many people in other parts of Europe build their own homes. It's mind boggling how much some of these dumps go for. We spent two years looking for a house outside of London. It's a nightmare. You would think one of the richest countries in the world would have much better living standards.
Agree . Having been bought up is SE England where the houses are tiny and claustrophobic i moved to Washington state and got very spoiled by the house sizes and now i dont think i could ever move home unless i can afford a lovely big house .
I get the issue of safety when exploring a new area. Especially since the girl is a runner and will run by herself through wooded areas. It’s hard for men to understand that fear.
Turning down a house because she thinks it too "grand" for them right now - in 5 years when she's ready for an upgrade, she won't be able to afford it!
As much as badly done modern properties are a turn off, at least the windows aren't pretending to be something they're NOT. I find myself grinding my teeth when I see those faux-diamond-shaped-leaded-glass-window-panes on houses built in the 1930s, '40s, etc. They would look to be perfectly in place in an Elizabethan cottage, but absolutely inappropriate on a house built in the 20th century. (One feels as if behind bars). THEN... we have the latest version: Faux-windowpanes, masquerading as sash windows. ENOUGH WITH THE FAUX!!! There is a LOT to be said for HONEST architecture. Stop TRYING to be something you are NOT. Be proud of what you are, in all your simplicity. (I know, I know...WHO am I talking to? ... the air).
There was an edit flaw at the end when Phil is making the call for the final offer. At 43:39, they each have a full glass, at 43:43, the men have full glasses, but her glass is now empty, at 43:47 Phil's glass is almost empty, and at 43:51, his glass is now full. I'm disappointed that the whole phone call has been staged. I know most reality shows do re-create scenes, but I thought that Kirstie and Phil's show didn't do that.
im curios as to why she didnt do her usual "give me a number that would take it off the table.." move. as to the other cpl, whatever it was that swayed the seller to them in the end, it was the personal association that persuaded them to consider a lower offer from the other person. that other buyer put in time wooing the seller, if you will, generated fond feelings. it happens all the time. they meet, they greet, they speak here, they speak next week. now the seller knows some about their life & are more willing to accommodate, its not strange at all. i do wonder how it is they meet
Why, oh why do people put shutters on windows when it's obvious the are just stuck on. They wouldn't cover the window and they are obviously upside down!?
I can understand a vendor wanting to sell to people they have met and liked. When the day comes for me to sell my house, I will insist that I meet the potential buyers and make sure that they understand and appreciate the special features of the property.
Why not put an offer in for the house in Sale? Although its had an offer, you never know what happens. People cant get the funding, cant sell their present house etc etc......
"1 bed flat for the 2 of us", yeah well, that is how it should be. You are sleeping together, you only need one bedroom unless you are going to have kids soon. Some people sound like they hate each other and they want a huge house so they dont even see each other all day XD
Coming from a country where old properties tend to be avoided in favour of newbuilds, I am intrigued by how people in UK have not many other choices other than buying old properties and redoing them. That sounds like a nightmare to me.
I'm finding it funny to hear people refer to outbuildings as "outhouses," as in North America an "outhouse" is an outdoor toilet without plumbing. This episode isn't the first time I've heard this... :D
please take your shoes off???? question mark ??? speaking of shoes, this is literally the first time ive seen her in something other than those red shoes. the red shoes are cute & they never clash, but damn!!!! she gets good value from those, not doubt about that. these blue ones are cute, too.
save $$$???!!! hell no, not this time. they lost $$$. money that this cpl could earn if they played their cards right. vintage anything is on fire right now
Manchester or greater Manchester is a huge place. I look out of the front for my house and see the city, the back see the Pennines. The peoples are so friendly and helpful, on the outskirts of the city centre areas.
I do lol... as twice someone brought something very unpleasant in on their shoes... people spit...dogs pee and more ..etc on the street... the best hygiene is no outdoor shoes in the house...
Removing shoes should be an expectation going into any home. For many reasons, like respect for the flooring, keeping any outside 'things' out of house.
"I don't know the area." Meanings A) It's not in the area I want (that I can't afford!!!) B) Haven't done their homework. C) Perfectionists often unable to make a decision.
Or D) They already found a house they wanted Don't forget, Kirstie did say that they were unfamiliar with the first area as well but because she fell in love with the house, the area became less important. She brought up the area on the third house because she wasmt interested in the house because fell in love with the first house.
Kirstie is one of the rudest and arrogant people on TV. Phil could do this show on his own and nobody would miss her. He is helpful knowledgeable and funny.
It's to make the TV show more interesting for viewers.... does not necessarily reflect her real life personality. Same applies to every other reality show on TV.
I love when Kirstie says "she's more shocked by the red socks (that are on Phil's feet)." I love watching the recent and older episodes of Kirstie and Phil :) !!!
Love that Edwardian home with the gorgeous stained glass windows.
Same! I live in Prestwich and now it would be worth about 475k. Wonder when this was filmed
This is so far a favourite episode. Non fussy couples and chess moves in negotiations. Would love to see a follow up of how they renovated the houses
Coming from Manchester myself - that couple who are adamant about a house in Didsbury highlights one of the major problems with many young people today. What has happened to the days where you started modestly, and worked your way up……I did 5 moves before I bought my final house.
The problem with Manchester are the people, too many scruffy people from low social economic background. The whole place is rundown
Imstant gratification from overindulgence and trophy for everyone
Totally agree- keep working your way up the ladder- it’s a marathon- not a sprint
Two lovely devoted couples. Stay true.
Cool places. Adorable doggy in one of the final scenes.
I really enjoyed these lovely couples journey.
How heartwarming
The camera work in this series is brilliant, everything looks beautiful.
This show makes me happy! Lol
Lovely episode and the couples know what they are looking for. I just dont understand why they sit on someone's bed! A chair, a sofa but not a bed.
They aren’t dirty so it’s not hurting anything. I probably wouldn’t but I wouldn’t be bothered if someone sat on mine.
I wouldn’t even sit on a friend’s bed without asking. One time Kirstie stood on someone’s dining table. I was shocked.
I agree. You’re not buying the furniture, so why are you “testing” it out? If you were the home owner and saw that, how would you feel?
That townhouse @ 25:00 was absolutely beautiful and had everything you need - garage, off road parking 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms!!! Wish I could buy that now lol
If it had been staged they would have loved it. In its empty condition they couldn’t see beyond that
No period features, non-descript house.
It was a huge no from me, soulless and a sense of Feng sui not being ideal facing a road junction
Claude and Sarah what a terrible situation to be in. However, I'm so pleased they got it in the end.
Love your vlogs! Your humor with both each other as well as all your clients is so fun to see. I’m hooked for the long run. Keep them coming❤.
Glad Phil corrected the Didsbury is ‘up and coming’ to ‘up and come’!!!
Second time watching. I love this one. Lots of humour, super sweet couples, great outcomes all round.
thank you for posting this show... another good one!
I had two houses where I could stand in one spot and vacuum the whole kitchen without moving. And I loved both houses.
Excellent video and lovely couples.
more great results, Kirstie and Phil really deliver ... and such lovely young couples

Catherine is absolutely beautiful! Not familiar with this city so it’s great to see different parts of England!
Loved Loved the fashionista Kristie's dresses in this episode!
Same here!

Great episode.
My feet were hurting watching Kristie in those shoes!!! Lol Off they should go to Good Will!! Lol ps pretty color though ❣️
Phil to Kirstie.."You better get out of there before you strip the house bare!" LOL. Just LOVE Kirstie & Phil! Best show ever! Greeting from Canada!!
Absolutely LOVE this ❤
I enjoyed this episode thank you for uploading 😁

This remains one of my favorite episodes. Glad the home-buyers both caught for what they wanted.
Did Kirstie ever get those period features? 😂❤
I will take that as a warning and semi in a heartbeat! Just beautiful!
Loved the episode! Catherine has a doppelganger btw- in Mira Rajput (Kapoor)

Love your show. I particularly love your shoes Kristy and the red socks were a fashion statement Phil!
Awesome everyone is happy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💚❤️👏👏🥰🤗
After watching these shows, I realize how spoiled we are in The USA! These bedrooms are so small to me! So are the Kitchens!
small carbon footprint eh?
USA?? isn’t New York part of USA 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Agree . Having been bought up is SE England where the houses are tiny and claustrophobic i moved to Washington state and got very spoiled by the house sizes and now i dont think i could ever move home unless i can afford a lovely big house .
Brits are famous of having smaller houses, that is not how the rest of europe lives
Your walk in closets are often bigger than some of our bedrooms. I was blown away by US sizes but UK living is always more size limited
Love this show.
I get the issue of safety when exploring a new area. Especially since the girl is a runner and will run by herself through wooded areas. It’s hard for men to understand that fear.
I wonder if it would have helped if they went and met the sellers
(26:22) I SO agree with this young man! It is a poor example of modern and... what did she say? "Shabby"!
Turning down a house because she thinks it too "grand" for them right now - in 5 years when she's ready for an upgrade, she won't be able to afford it!
I didn’t follow their reasoning on that either. ‘We’ll spend roughly the same money on a lesser house because we’re not ready for a better house.’
How's Phil Not Aging? Started watching them 2003 and 20*yrs later, they both look exactly the same!!!
I think he has buffed up a bit :)
Curve ball for Sarah and Claude😳

A lot of townhouses where i live in canada. I hate them ! Loads of stairs and a tiny garden . A flat (condo) is way nicer
The lovely Katherine looks exactly you like Demet Ozdemir...❤
She is very beautiful
What year was this ?
im curios as to why she didnt do her usual "give me a number that would take it off the table.." move. as to the other cpl, whatever it was that swayed the seller to them in the end, it was the personal association that persuaded them to consider a lower offer from the other person. that other buyer put in time wooing the seller, if you will, generated fond feelings. it happens all the time. they meet, they greet, they speak here, they speak next week. now the seller knows some about their life & are more willing to accommodate, its not strange at all. i do wonder how it is they meet

Claude is HOT !!!
Indeed 😂
🙋♀️❤️. Your famil t sure fits a lot in each day! Im tired!😂
some times thers 3 5 or more in a rm.crazy
The biggest question after this episode is did Kirsty manage to get her hands on those unwanted features 😂😂😂
Didsbury was up already in the '70s. TV people in east Didsbury and students in west Didsbury....😅😅😅
When did this air?
Interested too
2014
Why not put an offer in for the house in Sale? Although its had an offer, you never know what happens. People cant get the funding, cant sell their present house etc etc......
This pricing is 9 years old.

In UK old houses are well built they just need some renovation, new builds are much more expensive, even smaller and very bad quality.
I'm finding it funny to hear people refer to outbuildings as "outhouses," as in North America an "outhouse" is an outdoor toilet without plumbing. This episode isn't the first time I've heard this... :D
There was an old outhouse (toilet) that was included in the outbuildings.
Didsbury has always been expensive. If you have £500,000 thats fine. East Didsbury is full of TV people and West Didbury too expensive...
"He wants to accept the lower offer of them", fair enough, but he shouldnt have kept showing the house to other people then.
Narina 😂
