Wow, thank you for making this guide! This has got to be the hands down best guide I have come across. I think I will be picking up Dungeonborne as a staple after this.
LOL OH. The section on Heirlooms uses the devs reveal trailer footage for Heirlooms, so they had really high ore counts probably to test its functions. I started this edit between The Final Playtest and Early Access Launch so I used what footage I had to explain its functions since I could not access the game. If you want counts like that, you can sell gear for gold via the auction house, use the excessive gold to buy up cheaper blue and green gear when its selling low and smash it into heirloom materials as a way to covert gold into heirloom crafts.
Hey i am very curious about something. You said the swordmaster is the best class when you have no gear, BUT every skill consumes swords and they are not that easily available to pick up. And then again, what do i do ? Stash swords just so i can use my skills, and then equiping them every time the cooldown is up ? Am i missing something here ?
Its one of the best classes to start on because of all of its forgiveness. SM is an elf, so they can cloak when crouched hiding from AI and players, healing while cloaked and having some of the best mechanics in the game like 2H sword with parry, The E is a damage reduction AOE sword that protects you and the Q is natural range not needing to buy a crossbow. In the event you die, its costs you nothing to have all this utility again. This is SM base kit. That being said if you make it out, the swords can be purchased from the Merchant so just make sure you are making enough gold to buy the kit back if need be and remember you can always INT a naked class to wipe them back to default with their swords.
*BEGINNER TIP:* From what I could test there is matchmaking based on gear, so keep going in with grey gear for a while until you get the hang of it, then go in with what you find, but don't craft or buy the best gear you can because it won't give you an edge, it will only match you against better-geared and more experienced players.
I don't believe there is gear based matchmaking. I have seen plenty of 30 gear level players while being only sub 9 gear level. 0-9 is "Casual' while 9+ offers you "Classic" mode with harder enemies and more rare loot spawns. If you queue into that at the lowest level you'll see purples anyways. But if you go casual there is not much reward to risk such high status kits unless you are boss hunting IMO so I think in general you'll just see more grey just because of that. I could reach out to the team for more concrete information, but I do not believe its the kind of system you mentioned.
So another note to make. Armor groups. Plate - Fighter, Deathknight Leather - Swordmaster, Rogue, Druid Cloth - Priest, Pyro, Cyro. Each of these groups give certain kinds of bonuses as equipment base stats. Plate. Gives Max life and Physical damage increase on almost all pieces. Its really straight forward Leather - It a mix. 3/5 will give max life, but there is no phsical damage increase instead its crit damage increase. The gloves give a unique bonus + weapon damage, and the boots give a bonus to movement speed (which is unique only to leather) Cloth - Another mix. Some pieces give elemental damage, others give just damage. Some give max life, some give resistance or crit chance instead. There is also secondary effects on the weapons as well. Grey bonuses that come with the weapon itself. Example one handed swords give crit chance, daggers and crossbows give crit damage, two handed swords give damage. Maces give max life. Staves give elemental damage. These bonuses apply to the whole kit weather you have them in your actual hand drawn or not DO NOT LEAVE A WEAPON SLOT EMPTY. You will be missing out on stat gains as well as bonuses.

Amazing beginners guide. I'm hitting 25 hours of playtime soon but I have been struggling with the PvP part of the game. Heck, even the skeletons and goblins cause me some trouble, losing my health and usually not having any healing, when I go in with default broken gear. I really think that this game should have more support classes, a bard maybe? I hope that they add more classes/skills in the future I am excited to try this game
The only thing I want to know is - I was thinking to remove second set of weapons to increase my movement speed. Is it beneficial to sacrifice potential switch in combat style + little stats for extra movement speed?
It can be but the slowness is applied once the weapon is in hand. For example a crossbow will slow you drastically in comparison to Daggers. You can get your fastest movment speed from "torch running" but a less noticeable way to traverse at that same speed is running with a consumable out 🤘 Hope that helps

@@Caveman125 combat is better in dark and darker but both are fun. Lot of potential with this given how itemisation works.
Great guide but disingenuous to suggest this isn’t a clone of Dark And darker. It is and that’s fine.
It's absolutely a dark and darker clone, but they made the game actually fun with significantly better gameplay, artstyle, environmental design, onboarding/new player experience, and progression.
The quality difference between this and the game it "ripped off" is insane lol
@@bunnyp9029I can absolutely disagree with you.
The combat and healing in this game are way better than dark and darker. Dungeonborn creators put a lot of thought into this game and even gear is better too.
