Hybrid Heaven mentioned!!! so neat to see a game that merges that niche sorta gameplay with dungeon crawling (the most elite genre obvi)
I didn't think I'd like it when I first saw it, but I love the grey Dark Souls vibe, and the combat looks surprisingly interactive. I don't know I'll ever play this, but it looks like something others would enjoy.
I really like that sequenced combat. Reminds me of Beneath Oresa in some ways, or how Darket Dungeon's combat was always impactful, despite being a short couple frames.
Oh man, Hybrid Heaven was such a wild experience.
Combat looks interesting already. Since movement costs energy, you can move at the end of your turn to waste the enemies energy following you. Just something I noticed
Needless to say, the beast was stunned.

You say Hybrid Heaven, but seems more similar to Vagrant Story.
Vagrant Story is the best game ever (imo) and Hybrid Heaven was such a cool concept. I really wish we saw some sequels or spiritual successors to both these gems.
Vagrant story was cool and original but it has that weird japanese game vibe where some mechanics are punishing and weird for no good reasons. Like how weapons delevel against a particular ennemy type if you keep using it against other enemies, forcing you to use many weapons. Or how it has random stat roulettes on level up.
Has nothing to do with Vagrant Story. Sorry but I don't see any similarity.

When you got into the first fight I didn´t think this would be for me, but the more I watched the more intrigued I got by the combat system.
Is there a story to why the sword looks like the product of a junkyard find?

well at the beginning of the video he did refer to the game as post-apocalyptic in some way. So probably that.

I don't like the stuttering attack animations.
Agreed, looks like jank for jank's sake. The animations need to be a bit slower (for the attacks I saw, anyway), and they need to return to their starting stance slower.
I feel it's like that because it's more of a menu game. The animation is fluff, and offers no graphical insights.
I loved everything I saw about this, hope it is not a rouge like and just a dungon crawl.

My first impression of the combat was a bit disappointed with the frames of movement, but that quickly went away when I saw how interesting the combat was and how detailed all the little touches on the weapons were. This game has real promise.

honestly was VERY confused right from the get go when I saw the tight hallways and style of combat. Tight hallways and changing cameras ALWAYS means either getting stuck in the wall or your (or enemies) bootyhole.
But it looks pretty interesting. Not something I'd ever play but I'd watch someone play for sure.

I played a lot of Hybrid Heaven, and I don't see the similarity. The movement, levelling, moves, and fatigue system in Hybird Heaven is just so different. Beyond mechanically, it as a sci fi story about aliens.

i tried the demo and it was NOT this 'easy' for me. lmao
i was aiming for backstab dmg, i tried to stun, but every time they'd lose guard, they'd just do a spell and gain it all back. i had skills to get my guard back too but they just take it right back while im chippin away their guard again too x-x

Strategy turn base Dark souls?
looks like an unreal engine creation... should find the mod where you can 'cut' items and people, so if you're cleaving something and it's the death blow, you can have the engine show that cut, bits flying off, etcetera, without having to make a custom cut scene or standard animation, just let the engine do its work. diablo was originally going to be a turn based game, then some purse string puller said 'live action'.. and the developer groaned, agreed, settled down to make it so.. and that evening figured out a way to make it work, and everyone loved it, including the devs.
I understand maybe there's a niche or gameplay mechanic that would work better as a first person turn based, which this kind seems to be.. but that would generally be a strategy based gameplay where there's a set of resources and a real difference when using them one way or another. if it's just clicking 'attack A vs attack B', there might be a different mechanic introduced, like a circle with a light zipping around it, and different parts of the circle are different actions, so you're playing a mini game of clicking the desired action vs another action... and maybe character development can include boosting certain skills which increase the size the skills takes in the circle, or the size of the circle, so it takes longer for the pointer to zip around it, allowing a longer period to more easily selet a specific choice, etcetera.
and then, maybe, I'm just describing something that would make an entirely different game altogether. I'm just thinking out loud. :-)

So that's how you fight in melee. You take turn walking behind each other and hitting from behind. WTF?

Ah today i play that game....yes this unbalance hits hard,unfair,not enjoying.
I like when youtubers always have different game version then me to play.
Cant even beat 3-4th enemy because less dmg or poison.
Sword:50Durabilty to 0 by few hits.
Poison need bit of fixing and ability to block hits or avoid them not sure why you cant even i can do that:)
