it's amazing, it needs work of course with the dynamics, and stuff, the library I mean, but it's an amazing thing so far.

The fact that this is free is monumental.

@@brianbergmusic5288 exactly, it sounds better than a lot of not free libraries and without touch it, just write and play.

The Hebrides are definitely some of my favourite Mendelssohn pieces, sound great in musescore

Given that all this is free it's truly remarkable. It's not a hundred miles off from the high-end library mock-ups that I've heard. It would be a great aid to composers pitching for a movie, and I think it's good enough to make scores for lower-budget work, documentaries, and TV for example. It would pass muster for pop arrangements too. For serious orchestral work, it's not quite there yet, and all the mock-ups I've heard so far have suffered from dynamic inconsistencies. Nonetheless, a truly monumental achievement by Musescore, and in ways a step up from the free BBC Symphony Orchestra. Hats off to the programmer too, excellent effort. As someone who's been around since before the invention of the synthesizer, I'm astounded that the technology has reached this high so quickly.

idk this library feels a bit sluggish to me, like it's trying to do too much. it works for wishy washy film-score type things, but when it comes to concert music, i actually prefer the classic ms sound for my workflow. it definitely doesn't sound nearly as good but its far more precise. this is definitely a step in the right direction but i have my doubts that it will ever feel quite right when things like noteperformer have been trying to perfect this for years.

@@rubenramos4281 my only qualm with this is that this sound font could dissuade beginners from writing rhythmically because of how it opinionated it is towards slow, film-type things. i believe musescore has a certain responsibility to avoid misleading its users as an open source software and the software of choice for beginners nowadays, but that could just be me, and of course the old sound font has its fair share of problems too.

      NotePerformer is the best

Pretty good by typical midi/score to note standards. The giveaway as always is the ending of phrases and note cut offs which are always too abrupt. They give the game away, and the dynamic differences are too harsh, but this is a lot better than the usual rendition of score to performance. The set up and detail is so important.

Pretty good...a lot of detail missing...but ok. a bit of latency here and there...but it certainly get the general idea across. It is certainly workable as a composer's aid. Not for audio to be published, imho, but as a composer working on a piece it would certainly produce a listenable draft.

one thing that is a bit annoying to me about the new library is that in trying to make it sound more real, they include little "flaws" which is fine for some things, but others it absolutely isnt. I was writing a piece that requires the clarinet to play a little run starting on B6 ending about an octave lower. the same run was repeated then on C6 and finally on D6. for whatever reason, the library decided that starting a run on C6 meant that it was more realistic for the clarinet to absolutely butcher the articulation and volume on the top note. as a clarinetist, i know this is not the case. it was a fairly exposed run so it just sounds awful. dont get me wrong, the new library is incredible, but little things like that are quite annoying. anothing bug (i suspect) i noticed was that some percussion (like the triangle) would come in wildly off time. sometimes up to a half beat late. not sure why, but there is absolutely no reason timing should be that variable. They made huge strides with its initial release over the old playback system, but they still have a long way to go.

The sound are quite good, but i feel the dynamics is not as good as as it were a real symphonic orchestra, i have in my memory the music and the score , some articulations doesn't sound as they should sound, it is possible that it needs a little bit to work in the mixer, but to be a BETA version I think it sound good with its VST instruments , buy the way it is a great job for what you have done , congratulations. I will use this software when it is complete ready, meanwhile I will continue working with NOTION 6 and the VST instruments with VSL and EWQLO, and others with KONTACK
