    This confirms it for me...
Listening to EJ at the BBC Hyde Park thing tonight... it's only just occurred to me that for the past 35 years he's sounded exactly like a pub-singer version of Elton John. His inflection is crazy. He doesn't sing any more, he just barks the phrases like a constipated seal. I know voices change in pitch and tone over time, but each singer chooses the style of their vocal. And he seems to have chosen a bad karaoke / tribute band style. I've seen him live, bought all the albums, etc. But for gawd's sake give it up, love.

I gotta disagree w/ yall. Yall are suggesting this man to stop singing his own song that he loves to do just cause he doesn't reach the notes like he once used to. I applaud him for still wanting to perform

whrobins431 I'm not suggesting he stops singing.... I'm suggesting he does it at home. I'm not saying it's because he missed a few notes, I'm saying it's because he missed every note.

I disagree. The man is on stage pretty much every single night, and people keep coming. The band is always on point, and the fact that his voice is different to how it was 40 years ago is part of the appeal. The songs have evolved with him. He ain't no Mariah.
