  • Kingston natives, Althea Forrest & Donna Reid burst into global superstardom in 1978 with their smash hit, Uptown Top Ranking and seemed to be headed for a long and successful career. But barely a year after breaking into the big time, they had left the music business altogether. This video traces their journey surprise celebrities to their disappearance from the spotlight

The *"I'm Still In Love With You"* was a massive riddim in the late 70s. I would've been around 9 years old at the time but boy, it was everywhere. It was around the same time the *"Death In The Arena"* riddim made a massive comeback thanks to cuts from Johnny Clarke, Linval Thompson, Jah Buzz, etc. 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

The mere fact they remained tight friends all these years is comforting to their fans old and new.
So many times winning and beloved partnerships are broken apart by rivalry or jealousy, depriving fans of what could have been more hits and fruitful collaborations.

I was so happy to see this tune in the UK charts and on the Top of the Pops, could not help but learn this tune word for word, even as a young child I knew history was being made,
Junior Murvin - Police and Thieves was another cross over tune that was in the UK charts :)

What it is, is what it is!!
They're worth their weight in gold and more. They came out with a blast and were an attractive pair then, and still is now!! Long life to them both and continual health, strength and successes for every good things they ventures. P.S.
In their earlier heyday, I heard that Jacob Miller was in a relationship with one of them but maybe wasn't completely approved because of his rebel affiliation. So I've heard.

I'm at a want to actually identify another great track from these girls. One album and one notable hit, not enough to be genuine superstars much like another female Reggae ensemble, Brown Sugar from the UK...Credit to them though for making the best out of Alton Ellis' riddim and contributions in promoting Reggae internationally.
