Bob Marley cant draw with them man am from the 50s ok joe even burning spare bob cant draw against them man powerfull singer respect to bring them man back respect again thanks bro joe
Yes, so true Joe Higgs is really the God Father of Reggae Music because he is always there when everything was created. Honestly, this man should have been one of Jamaica's National Hero's because he helped so many Jamaican Artists and Musicians to become so successful in life. Yes, this is so crazy that such great legends only got their recognitions after they are dead.
I remember seeing him at small club in Nanaimo on the BlackMan Know Yourself tour. There wasn't more than 40 people there.I remember requesting a song (yelling it out)just as his band started. He quickly cut the song and went into a 10 min speech about black history staring at me the whole time then proceeded to play blackman know yourself as requested. Amazing.
He used to live in LA and frequent the clubs. I saw him from time to time always had a Heineken in his hand. I had some good conversations with him. He was a very nice guy and he worked with some of the local bands
Glad to see attention given to the great artist Joe Higgs. To clarify the history, his original singing partner was Roy Wilson, not Delroy Wilson, who was a different singer.
Big up to a real 💯 🙌 real music master of reggae music 🎶 no the god Father of reggae music nuff nuff respect to u my dad u put reggae music on the map and most of all ur music lives on on and on u why reggae music 🎶 is here to stay because when reggae music it's u ....u don't feel no pain just dance to the rhythm str888 1❤
Gone but never forgotten R . I .P Joe , never forgot his roots and taught anyone famous or just someone who wanted to play a little, Respect from Ireland 🇮🇪 sleep easily you deserve it ❤
So underrated. Joe did so many great Ska tunes in his early days. Not too mention his amazing progressive albums in the 70s. Life of Contradiction is an absolute masterpiece.
Oh yes indeed..Life of Contradiction (1975) is a superb piece of work...Its follow-up Unity is Power 1979 (or is Unity is strength? My recollections are a bit hazy at the moment) was also noteworthy..... And Family (1989)
@@drawingdownthestars "Walking up and down, Looking like a clown....Searching for you Baby"" 😄😄😄Yeah !! Great track..What struck about Joe Higgs is the consistently good reviews he had from Reggae critics. Didn't have too many albums for one who's been in the business for 50 years, but this guy NEVER had a mediocre album release...

Thanks for your wonderful account on Joe Higgs. He deserved a lot more credit than he received in his lifetime. However the quality of talent in both the producers and artists in Jamaica at that time was numerous. Some of the artists you named, including Jimmy Cliff and the Wailers. However don't forget the other producers who were just as influential and some even more so than Joe Higgs. People like Coxsone Dodds, Duke Reid, Byron Lee, The Kongs, The Chins, and Winston Riley among others. Saturday in Jamaica was my music day where I would visit many of these people in Kingston(circa 68-77) from South Parade to Orange street and places in between. Everyone was willing to talk and exchange musical ideas. I was only a youngster, but those were the days. R.I.P. Joe Higgs, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, BUnny Livingston, Winston Riley, Clement Coxsone Dodds,Pat Kelly, John Holt, Bob Andy, Leslie Kong, and Vincent Chin.
Blessing Bigg R.A.S....another great video of an icon. Joe Higgs...truly a musical hero. Praises due to Joe for all his work. Big ups brethren...cheers from California

Guidance, Rasta. I definitely Give Thanks for your channel & learning much about him today, including his role as Reggae Fadda & Artist Dada. I knew he was influential & even of complaints of sometime shady ways & harshness but not that he effectively sublimated his ego to ensure that a multitude thrived in his field. Blessings to him & his. Rest well, sir. 💚💛❤
The very first track i listened to from Joe Higgs was Upsidedown...Great sound..Could still have easily passed up for a nice 60s-70s-styled R&B track... And of course there's also the song, A So We Go banned for its criticism of Government...One of the Greats.. RIP
He’s a legend. I love Joe Higgs. Does anyone out there know if there’s a bar on Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One albums? For example, Jackie Mittoo studio albums on streaming platforms are a terrible mix up of his worst recordings, many just streaming service generated best of recordings that represent his music at its worst. Someone needs to lift this copyright off so we can appreciate proper Studio One albums eg Mittoo has an album called Reggae Magic and many others that just aren’t available except for on LP.
That's true...Tosh covered the song without consent...The matter was dragged to Court with Joe Higgs actually winning the case. But strangely, this Legendary Master didn't perceive a single penny till he passed away.

It wasn't Delroy Wilson,.
Delroy wilson was not part of higgs and wilson . That wilson went to live in America and was older than delroy
