Making a Bowdrill Set From Scratch

I love using a bowdrill, especially as I am self-taught, and I also like watching others use one too. As I mention in the video the sights and sounds which generate smoke and flame are eye catching, but the fact is that there is a lot of preparation to get to that stage: 90% perspire for 10% fire.
This video goes through the stages needed of gathering the bits needed. The only material supplement I brought from home was a tinder bundle, I prepped some grass to put in the middle but as we'd had a lot of rain I didn't have the time window to prep and dry a whole bundle. The centre was foraged so that is the bit that initially combusted.
