- Not taking any chances this time after hydro-locking one Jeep this year already... Guess it's time to slap a snorkel on the Gladiator before we do any really expensive damage.

I just took the insulation out if it gets wet it can end up sagging and then looks nasty and gets pulled into the belts n pulleys. Yes it happened to one of my xjs back in the day. So I just take it out
That is a nice kit. I thought you were going to have to cut a hole in your fender. I am like you that jeep is to nice for that. To me the breather looks fine because there is other black pieces on the Jeep,but painted would look good as well.If it were me as much as you guys like to off-road I would extend all of those breathers and mount them on the firewall.Probably some hose and clamps would do it.
FYI, the high snorkel part normally stays black, it is the cowl part that the people have painted. As for the evacuation hose, I replaced mine with a longer one to have an even easier access to it. It is now right there, sitting below the fender liner. Also, the only thing that was in your way to close the hood was the clamp screw connection. Most people position so the connections rest on the side of the tube and not on top.Personally, since the fitting is so darn thight, I chose not to use the clamps since there's no way in hell water can seep in from there due to tightness... And, the force of the clamping is responsible for making the tubes warp because of engine heat.
I would paint it and leave just the grilles black on the side and the top. That’s how I’ve seen it and it looks great but I’m actually liking the all black for now. I tried relocating the clamps and it didn’t help for me personally, maybe I did something wrong but it fits now lol but I hear you on the no clamps. They do make it warp

Personally I’d leave the snorkel the way it is. Just my opinion. You do what makes you happy. I love the look of the black mods on my jk.

I wish lol maybe one day but for now I won’t fit in the garage if I do 40s and a lift to clear them
@Smokin Monkey plus with 37-inch or larger tires, you'd also need a ton of other very expensive upgrades in your steering, suspension, axles, brakes, drivelines, etc! That would be a great video series though...
If I can afford it one day I would love to go down that rabbit hole but I already know it’s looking like a second mortgage

Howdy from Houston TX, how soon before tj is back on the road, i have a 04 tj myself

Cool mod. If I were doing it I would paint match the bottom only. How hard is it to change from high to low snorkel? If its easy I would consider leaving the low on until I needed it then switching it out the day I was taking it off road. I like the mopar trifold top you have. I was going to get the one made by bac but now I may get the one you have.
It’s 4 bolts to switch it out so not hard but I kind of prefer the look of the high mount

The stock air box is still there using all the stock components so warranty shouldn’t be affected. They also sell a mopar snorkel so I wouldn’t see it being an issue
Some People call me a try hard because I have two trail jacks on my Jeep. I call that hating. 😂
I feel one is more than enough but whatever makes you happy I guess. I prefer bottle jacks myself
@@SmokinMonkeyOG main reason I like trail jacks are if I need to be pulled sideways the same time I’m winching. Another reason I like trail jacks are for spreading or opening car doors that have people trapped inside. Ya never know. I drove wrecker for a very long time. I’ve seen some things. 😂

Yup works great. Zero wind noise and keeps it clean for when I need it. No mud on the light blocking it from off roading all day then just take the cover and wash it before you put it back

@@SmokinMonkeyOG how did that happen ?? Your vent hoses must not have been extended for that cause stock tj air box is Danm near the hood and I’d never suggest that deep the gladiators wheel base is so long that your bound to break shit off-roading big thing like that and just costly aswell

Vent hoses? Lmao you don’t hydrolock by sucking water though a vent hose. You do it by getting water directly into the intake. I posted the video of you want to see
