This is what I like about chooch reviews and videos . He is not bias from a particular brand or model (like some gotway fans reviewers) . He will find where each wheel shines or lack .. thanks for the video chooch!.
I find that even a gentle carve is essential for keeping the wheel from developing a death wobble. Plus, it gives me a better feel for the wheel's rotational inertia on different surfaces, with different tire pressures, and at different speeds. When I first started ramping up my speed, carving was the skill that totally changed my perception of how to ride these things. I think as riders get better, the carve can become more and more subtle, until it's just a light bit of pressure being added to the peddles when it feels like they need it. Like everything, big motions when starting out turn into smaller and smaller motions until it's just tiny changes in muscle tension (aka. mind-control).
11:20 I also like carving because it reduces stress on my feet. If my feet are always in the same position holding half of my weight each then they get really worn out. Carving takes the pressure of one foot then the other and gives each once a chance to stretch out and it lets me ride longer without my feet hurting.
@@Pilpup nah, just dont crash it at high speeds if you dont pad it up like i do with a lot of my wheels. High speed crash may damage the saddle assembly
Man, I'm so jealous of you cruising down the mountain like that. That looks like fun and very therapeutic. Also good tip about the tire pressure. Good video.
Your videos always give a great sense of speed and flow. I want one of these bad, hopefully can get my hands on one before it gets cold on the east coast
When you get around to your tutorial on making side pads, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the pros/cons of different "approaches" to side pads, including those that are large enough blocks (e.g. a few inches wide...) that you can "lock in" the front of your foot btwn them and the pedal. Although I can certainly see the benefits of such pads in helping you take jumps and helping prevent "lift off" during rough terrain, I'm curious what you think about various approaches from a safety perspective, too.
you don't need huge pads, it would be dangerous because it would make dismounting very quickly hard, if the wheel malfunctions at high speed, you'll want to remove your feet as quickly as possible if falling, and not be stuck to it. small pads, like half an inch or maybe an inch is plenty, the strongest grip comes from squeezing the euc with your legs to keep your feet planted on the pedals. most of the time its not necessary, you can just keep your feet planted by having bent knees and being your own suspension, but on rough terrain or big bumps it prevents feet from lifting. real suspension helps a lot too.
Osimmac exactly what I was thinking nothing to get you feet stuck but something for your ankles to grab for jumping up curbs when necessary. Think I will make something simple with foam padding.
Here's a video just recently made that highlights one of the many "approaches" people have had in making pads for their EUCs. Since this seems to be a very "open" opportunity for EUC users and 3rd-party companies alike, getting chooch's thoughts on which approaches make sense and which might be unsafe or just "snake oil" would be greatly appreciated! This is the unit I’m looking for. Really liked the Kingsongs suspension but it seems this needs to be tuned to the individual for air pressure and then it’s fine. It’s built better from what I can see anyway

Just got back from a 40-mile Mountain Road ride on the V11... oh my God unbelievable. May I ask you what jacket that is? I need something with more visibility... by the way I absolutely love watching your riding...super inspiring!
I’m not sure if this works....but would it be better if they said that you put enough air in for your weight, so that the pedals are ‘x’ inches from the ground? I know that would be more difficult to do solo, but would be a better measure of how much air you put in?
How do you know you’re not going too fast for a cutout?? I had a cutout on low battery a few weeks ago as a noob and now I’m afraid to really lean into any throttle, I have a v11 on preorder
at 9:50 chooch said carving is fun and to slow you down going down hill. so why not go straight and lean back a bit. the fastest way to travel from pt A to pt B is a straight line, So why curve?
I’m guessing because just going straight down a hill at high speed, you’re always on the brake which he’s saying could stress the machine. Carving shifts some of that kinetic energy, and slows you down naturally, without as much use of the EUC’s brake capability, just like how carving while skiing or snowboarding slows you down.
@@Sal_The_3rd skaters carve to push forward. EUC does not need this push to go forward. Also its good to brake going down hill to regenerate e power to the battery. So carving serves no purpose: it slows you down and wastes battery power ,,,,, probably just a bad habit to confuse the traffic.
williamCmd I think you’re missing the point of your own question. He was talking about how the old EUC would malfunction with consistent heavy braking, such as down a long steep grade. “Carving” shifts that kinetic energy, therefore needing less braking. Same with skiing and snowboarding where you are constantly dealing with going too fast (and not skating...)
@@Sal_The_3rd so why carve on level road ? besides slowing you down carving also wears out the tire faster. Can anyone give even 1 benefit of carving ?
My first real unicycle!(first one was a cheap plastic one as a kid ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4e2fa6x27dF7shCelntq0ZIKt4N0jELI I never learned to ride)So, this is a true learner, and for a C note, exactly what was needed. After a few weeks, I'm able to easily ride up and down the street. The Good: Solid frame. Has absorbed numerous spills through learning and still solid. Look - great looks, after 6 weeks of bashing Weight - it's really all tire, but as I fall I can easily grab the seat so it doesn't slam the ground. Size - Very adjustable. I'm 6', 33" inseam. I put it mostly up, but could go a bit higher if I needed to. The Bad: Not sure if it's out of the norm, but seat got scraped up quickly. Pedals - they are a bit uncomfortable and I can't get the right feel on my feet. But, they are solid and haven't been damaged at all as I've seen in reviews on other cycle's.- To address one comment about the seat connection not straight. Huh? Seat is on a round pole, you just turn it and it's straight. Either of the bad I expected to replace once I improved. I'd recommend to anyone else in the learning phase.

I’m not sure if this works....but would it be better if they said that you put enough air in for your weight, so that the pedals are ‘x’ inches from the ground? I know that would be more difficult to do solo, but would be a better measure of how much air you put in?
Hey Chooch, when you say “I’m running on 80 psi on each side” you mean up and down chambers or left & right? Thank you!
How do you know you’re not going too fast for a cutout?? I had a cutout on low battery a few weeks ago as a noob and now I’m afraid to really lean into any throttle, I have a v11 on preorder
would u recommend this as starter
yea man!
man Im still torn between this and the gotway rs u recomended
Chooch, ...awesome vid! I’m 145lbs. With this in mind, should the V11 suspension be at 80 and tire pressure at 18 psi? Thank you!
Will get back to you in a few years. Sit tight
@@Tomos13😂😂
which city is this?
going from gold hill to boulder colorado, cheers!
how faster it is
at 9:50 chooch said carving is fun and to slow you down going down hill. so why not go straight and lean back a bit. the fastest way to travel from pt A to pt B is a straight line, So why curve?

Man you a pro awesome!
I just let some air out of my chamber........smells like I had Italian food last night lol
Super bad ass
Chooch! Thanks for another great video. Are you going to review the Veteran Sherman for us. I already had it in the shopping cart, but I still can‘t make up my mind: MSX? MSP? Or Sherman? I need your input, man.
Impressive!
Sold on the word hoverboard!
would like to see same ride with the sherman
Nice ride. But you forgot to edit your shadow in vid.
