- Sooooo, hello my Friends!!!
It's been 6 months since i upload my last video.
I didn't expect that my break in planemaking will be so long.
At this moment finally i can say - yes, i'm back!
In today's episode i'm gonna make something special - classic strike block plane with intermittent boxing. The plane is purposed to work on the engrain surface. As you know endgrain surface of the wood is the most durable for friction, so the sole of wooden plane can be damage quickly. Because of that i'm gonna use small pieces of boxwood, and glue them into the sole of the plane. Notice the grain direction of the boxing, they will be perpendicular to the sole, that detail will keep durable of the sole for years of using.
For this project i'm gonna use:
- piece of smoked black locust for the body
- log of boxwood for the wedge and the boxing
- padauk and maple veneer inlay (just for fun)
- my hand tools
- my hands
- my head ;)
I hope you like how the plane will works!
At the end of the video i got small surprise for you :)
Thank you!
If you have any questions or sugestions just write a comment.
Enjoy!
Btw. Sometimes you asked me about plans of my planes, but i'm really sorry, i have them only in my head.. Maybe some day i'll put them on the paper or digital version. Today i don't have a time for it.

Witajcie moi przyjaciele!
Minęło 6 miesięcy od przesłania mojego ostatniego filmu.
Nie spodziewałem się, że moja przerwa w planowaniu będzie tak długa.
Dzisiaj wreszcie mogę powiedzieć - tak, wróciłem!
W dzisiejszym odcinku zrobię coś specjalnego - klasyczny strug typu strike block z okresowym boksingiem.

Very beautiful as always!!! I'm glad to see you're putting videos out again and looking forward to your next one!!!!! I had just looked yesterday if I had missed a video. I knew the last one I seen you had hurt yourself and was concerned that it might have gotten worst
Thanks a lot! Don't worry, everything is great but i have no time ..
All the best for you :)
I’m definitely going to try the spline trick! You know just for fun! Look great!
What angle is the iron mounted at?
35 deg bed and 10 deg skew
I was going to say that's a beautiful plane that I'd love to have/make one day and now all I have to say is all my Christmases have come at once this year,. Bardzo dziękuję Stavros.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I'm envious! Congratulations, Andrew!
Lucky dude! Enjoy that masterpiece;
Congratulations Andrew .... I am almost jealous. At least I was able to witness this master put his mark on it and then create this beautiful piece of art. Cherish it forever!
Happy planing Andrew!
He's Back! More masterpieces incoming.
Hey Ross ;)
I love this guy. I have been waiting for more of these videos since he moved. I am completely fascinated by someone who actually makes them by hand, even the uncommon planes. Awesome stuff man. Thanks for putting in all the hard work.
Thank you Darric ;)
Beyond my absolute fascination with the layout of these works of functional art, I love that you do not mask the sound of construction with a soundtrack.
Nothing more soothing that listening to tool maker/woodworker making hand tools "sing". THANK YOU!
Yes! I can't stand video makers who need to talk every single minute in a half hour long video. I love when Stavros gives us all the information written on wood.
Have to agree.
Well, that's what you get when both your tools and your skills are sharp.
incredible craftsmanship and a pleasure to watch.
Great craftsmanship. A truly beautiful piece.
Thank you George!
Ty chory perfekcjonisto! Przecież tych strugów nie wolno używać tylko postawić na półce w salonie! :D
The level of perfection is amazing, a true craftsman at work. All hand work, no "machining" of components.
Thank you Tom :) i used my old bench grinder fir work with the blade but i didn't want to show it again ;)
Love the saw/rasp cutter things you have. Also, never thought of making a scraper out of an old chisel..... Might have to try that some time. I do plan to make my own wood hand planes eventually. I do have a LOT of wood..... Wood-Aholic anonymous.....
An absolute artist. I love your videos. Just bought an old derelict wooden plane today. Going to try using the iron to make a plane. You have inspired me.
That was awesome. I am so glad to see that your leg is healed and your move went OK. Great piece of work, thank you Stravos.
Thanks a lot mate!
Oh wow. That's awesome that you gave it away. Incredibly generous of you.
Beautiful design and craftsmanship.
Thank you :)
Uncommonly beautiful, was a joy to watch.
Thank you Chuck :)

I could watch your masterful creations over and over Mr. Gakos. Welcome Back!
Hey Jeff :) Thank you!
Okay, so you seem like a master craftsman that is starting his own wood shop from scratch. Incredible skill, just building your tools!

Już się martwiłem, że nie wrócisz. Zdrowia i przyjemności!
Cześć Patryk! Dziękuję i wzajemnie :)
Nice to see you again. You need a sheet of thick plywood under the workbench. In order not to disrupt the heat exchange of the body.
Thank you Dan :) The floor is not finished yet..
What an elegant piece of work. Beautifully crafted.
Thank you!

Hey Emiliano :) thank you!
So glad to see you're back at it. I'm fascinated by user made tools. I hope to one day begin crafting my own planes.
I will love to see you create a website to organize your videos and also write up information on angles, how to select wood blanks, grain orientations etc.
Would be a great help to those of us who aspire to craft traditional tools.
Thank you Joe!
I'll do this one day :)
Regards!
